Indestructible Spirit (Kancolle AU)

Leave it to Kongou-sama to be the best Big Sister among the kanmusu.

And I do not regert making her MAI WAIFU....

Also, Tenryuu made me laugh. I want to see more of her and learn why she dislikes Goto.
Why does Tenryuu dislike this Goto? I figure the answer to that can be found in her kindergarten; specifically Hibiki.

Hibiki obviously embraces her dual nationality and, while she is still loyal to Japan and her sisters, is still proud of her service with the Soviet Union. Tenryuu and the other Akatsuki sisters obviously care and love the white-haired destroyer and allow and encourage Hibiki and her love of all things Russian.

Now imagine how Goto must react to Hibiki and how often Tenryuu has to go to bat against the Commander and his Nationalistic attitude.

The thing is though, I think Goto might understand Hibiki's case. She was given to the Russians as a war prize, whereas Indy never served with a navy other than the Royal Navy

Kongou's grin had faded into a soft smile, "We DID, dess. You are our SISTERS, Indestructible. We love our sisters, and wanted to do something to make you feel at HOME, dess. Is it good?"

Kongou is love.

Without the Kongou sister's hijinks and heart I honestly think things would be going a lot worse for Japan against the Abyssals. Morale is, after all, a vital part of any war fighting force.

Lest we ever forget, BURNING LOVE! also gives you super powers. Like the power to slap shells out of the air and save young destroyers from deadly despair.

Never underestimate the power of BURNING LOVE! and never forget that even though she's being all British about it, this power sleeps within Indestructible too.

Not necessarily if you think in quantum shipgirl terms. Since Kongou struck the side of the shell with the back of her hand, I think of it in terms of the shell striking at such an angle that it ricochets off her hull and into the ocean. Kongou was able to position herself like that in time because she's just that good.

Also: @Skywalker_T-65, I guess you missed my earlier question: Akaga, Zuikaga, or love triangle?

No. If you look closely, you'll see that she summoned an AT Field. A green hexagonal shield. The focused, impenetrable barrier of her soul. And in case you're wondering how Kisaragi didn't do that, she never had her head in the game to begin with. Or she didn't somehow unlock it.

Or it could the the physical representation of the 8 INCHES of armor she had, aka shipgirl magic bullshit, considering the Abyssals have the same damn thing. But theirs cover more.

Yeah, I'm going with the ships' armor being represented by magical force fields.

Nah. It's totally the power of BURNING LOVE!:p

Thing is, those Abyssal battleship shells might still be able to penetrate 8"of armor. So you have to take into account the angle of impact...

It's a Ri-class in the video (AFAIK), and they have 6-inchers. According to Wikipedia's article on the 6" Mark 16...
The 105-pound armor-piercing shell fired at 2810 feet per second could pierce up to 5 in (127 mm) of hardened armor plate out to 9,200 yards; the 130 pound AP shell introduced just before World War Two fired at 2500 feet per second could penetrate out to 15,700 yards.v
We don't know how far away Kongou was from the offending ship, but if she was at the average distance, 8 inches would be more than sufficient to bounce an AP round.

Magical shipgirl bullshit is what it was emphasis on magic.

Kongou and sisters due to their upgrades in the 30's barely Qualify as Dreadnoughts.
Dreadnoughts are ships with belts at least 8' thick and Guns 14' or more.

To quote a character from a completely different crossover fanfic that has nothing at all to do with Kancolle, "Soul. Magic. Bullshit."

Either that, or Kongo just rolled a natural 20 on her Armor Deflection roll, not counting modifiers. :p :V

With regards to the omake itself... it induces so much feels... help.

Actually Kongo could have handled eating a sixteen inch shell a hell a lot better then Fubuki who had already suffer heavy damage. Add in the fact the the shell was probably High Explosive, cause AP does shit against destroyers look at Taffy three(that literally why they survived so long), which would have done nothing to Kongo.

Seriously the USS San Fansico took a fourteen inch high explosive shell from one of Kongo sister, either Hei or Kirisham I forget, on her five inch belt. It blow up instantly make no more then a scratched on her paint.

Destroyer have little to no armor, thus is why they are called Tin cans. One good it with the weakest type of projectile will damage them. A 3 inch gun will damage them, let alone a shell carrying one ton of high explosives.

Plus as much I say that the Kongos are battlecruisers, which they are, they can still take a hit and keep on coming for more.

Unless they are Magazined but that fucks up any ship.

Braver than Fuck though either way she tanked a round that might have killed her if she was unable to deflect it.

Admiral Hammond: We need someone to lead this outfit. Someone who will laugh in the face of the enemy, even when it's inappropriate.

Because Kongou/O'neill comparisons will never get old.

They were refitted into fast/light battleships in the 30s with the requisite extra armor.

Yes I think that Kongo and O'Neill should never met.

They still only had eight inches of armor belt at the waterline. HMS Dreadnaught had eleven at the waterline. Hell the Lexingtons battlecruisers design had more armor then they did, and it was sloped.

Even after their refits the Kongos still had less armor then current Battleships.
