Hyrule Warriors

If you were doing a movie or an OVA, you wouldn't even need dialogue.

Anime dialogue has a tendency to lead to justifying fanservice. When all you have are your visuals, you can't just add in a hotsprings sequence because you need an excuse for your female lead to pout.

Make that FOUR to one! Though won't lie the sports bra plus skirt and leggings combo is not good.

Maybe you should try watching good anime.

Get some Mushishi, Hyouka, and Shinsekai Yori in your life.

Jojos.

Ahem. Studio 4c (I think that's their work) are pretty reliable. But I'm not feeling it. Besides I'd want scenes like out of the original Zelda manual with The Nose, the voltron meets superbook design and clothing, and etc. Kid Icarus's animated shorts worked for Kid Icarus but like Zelda itself I'd want the anime to be a bit of a throwback, like the comics from the guy who made Cyborg 009

Counterpoint: Samurai Jack. Yes it's western animation, but it proves that you can have a fantastic animated show with little dialogue and music.

Samurai Jack had a lot of tone and implied characterization Zelda tends to lack. It did a lot of showing instead of telling and was great at it. Zelda not so much. Link is a blank most of the time.

It's unlikely, but I'd like to see Tetra in Hyrule Warriors.

I just realized that outside Link, almost all the badass characters in the Legend of Zelda series are female.

The Wind Waker-styled games had Links with tons of personality, while still being mutes.
From what I've seen of the Skyward Sword cutscenes, that Link emotes a fair bit as well.

Some new info from Aonuma hyrle warriors isn't part of the main timeline but is set in an alternate dimension like majoras mask.

Within the Zelda canon, there is the timeline, but there has always been the sense of the main story and kind of a side story. Like, Majora's Mask might be considered part of that, though it does exist as part of the timeline. With Hyrule Warriors, there is a link between the two, but it exists as a separate dimension, so it doesn't exist as part of the main canon. Lately I have been thinking of it similar to The Avengers. Maybe if you force it in somewhere, but that's not something we want to do. The universe of Hyrule Warriors really is sort of a different universe and it is connected to the timeline of the Zelda series, but it is connected to several different games throughout the series. If you try and force this into it here [Aonuma places his hands in the air indicating different levels of the timeline], then…that information might not be complete. We really don't want to put it in the timeline because it has links to the different parts of the timeline.

So Hyrule Warriors is "Ultimate Zelda" ala Ultimate Marvel?

Makes sense. This way if it proves popular they can always come back to it. If it doesn't then they can just ditch it without worrying about having it effect the three "Main Timelines" that they are focusing on.

Also it is confirmed that the character we saw in the Wii U trailer is indeed Link.

Aonuma wanted people to focus on the other elements of the trailer, not the Character, who he see's as representing the player.

And now that the whole "is it a female character" stuff is over people are already speculating that this means that you can "customize" Link in the next Zelda game ala Western Style RPG's so that each players game will have their "Link" be fundamentally different given how people tackle the "nonlinear" nature the game is promising regarding it's dungeons.

...that doesn't make sense to me.

How about just saying it's an Ultimate Universe? That would explain the hiccups.

That is what they are essentially saying, just in more words. Remember Ultimate Marvel has crossed with Earth 616 (Mainstream Marvel) on multiple occasions, yet it still remains a "separate" continuity.

That is what Hyrule Warriors is in essence, we are just seeing it during a "crossover event", rather then stories taking place solely in the setting itself.

And remember that Ultimate Marvel was an "experiment" the same way that Marvel Mangaverse was. If it did not prove popular it was going to be ditched (the same way the Mangaverse was).

That is in essence what is being done here. If Hyrule Warriors proves popular it is likely to be revisited. If it does not meet expectations it is probably going to be dropped from "future projects".

Keeping it as a separate continuity just makes it easier to do so.

And remember the one rule of these kinds of forums "Not everyone knows about the fandom you are talking about so it helps to explain a little".

So I couldn't just say "Ultimate Marvel" and have everyone know what comparisons I was drawing.

Edit:

My Zelda Recs, Ideas, and Discussion Thread has been uploaded to the Fanworks section here. Feel free to use for your Legend of Zelda needs.

And I really should get back to work on developing that "Fallout: Hyrule" idea that I have posted in there now that I think about it.

I curse the fact that I keep getting distracted by shiny new things!

Lot of playable female characters, another mode
Apparently Hyrule warriors will have lots of playable female characters and another game mode.(I can already see the shipping wars and fan art commencing):p
Hyrule Warriors will have a lot of playable female characters, another mode coming
We've only seen four playable characters in Hyrule Warriors thus far, but there are plenty of additional reveals to come. And apparently, many of them will be female. One of the folks speaking on the latest Treehouse stream mentioned that "at least half" of the roster consists of female inclusions.

Also on the stream, it was stated that another important mode for Hyrule Warriors hasn't been announced. There should be a lot of reveals to look forward to!

Since one of the villains seems to be based on Volvagia, I'm hoping at least one of the playable characters is a Goron.
