Hugh's Perfectly Normal Mafia Game Where Nothing Weird Happens Whatsoever

@Shadell I want you to ask a question that four players of your choice have to answer, something about a theoretical role action that you can come up with. Give them a scenario or something to dive into their thought process. Or something else, you'd prefer to do, just asking for a chime in when you can.

@ComiTurtle @-Rosen @NinetyNineLies @Logos

You're told you have a roleblock power. However, on use, the target dies night one and night 2 with a kill color that is not your own. How would you plan to use it night 3?

@RoachTV @Chiperninerm You two have some of the earliest votes, is there someone else you want to vote?
Well, at the moment... not really? I mean, looks like we're out of the meme phase so I suppose I'll move my vote somewhere else, but it won't really mean much at the moment since there's not a lot of info I can glean yet.

[X] Vote Wies

Help me out a bit, is there anyone here so far that you feel has been particularly towny? It's early days yet, but has anything caught your eye?

Honestly? Would say Nic is a good bet, if only because I'm always wary when he gets really deep with the role play cause he likes to slip things through.

Outright stating there's a mafia day one made me raise a brow, if only for the other options like cult or something completely left field given its a bastard game. Though will also state he's still a townish read, just the least of, which is about standard for nic.

Logos, he stole my number 5 spot!

Also that's a really weird question to be asking, the SK isn't likely to just give that up. Though suppose there's the possibility they might not know who they're killing/have that ability.
Perhaps it might even be better to ask for the wrong information. "Hey, if you're a doctor, who would you save?" Then end up seeing that person be killed: obvious conclusion, the doctor is the SK!!!

This seems like a bad mentality to have... I mean, it's not like Hugh would just make a game that's just opposite world hahaha... right?

If it's X-shot, save it. Not enough info to be more than a speculative shot, and N2 on will be higher value due to having something more than D1 socials to go on. If unlimited shot, speculative is fine.

In that case, either Nictis because I'd peg angel as more likely to be a third party than perfectly normal town, or one of the low activity players on the theory that more activity is better for town than less. It's not necessarily that likely to hit scum, but without a shot limit taking another shot in the game is pretty much always going to be better. Same logic as shooting down no-vote on D1.

Considering this is explicitly a bastard game, after the second I'm running on the theory that the roleblock has a kill attempt rider and testing it. It doesn't change targeting logic much though, since before and after I'd want to be hitting scum with it.

The scenario might imply having a false faction on your card, and I might ask explicitly about that in the role PM, but for the most part I'm inclined to discount that possibility even in a bastard game. There's bastard, and there's unfun.

THE POSSIBILITIES NARROW. SOME ARE VANILLA IN ALL BUT NAME. BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU SHARE.

No one catches my suspicion yet, although that might change after a few rereads.

Thanks for answering!

That is fair.

Heh

Hmm, that is an interesting question. Why not asking who is more like evil rather than towny? Would that not be a more fruitful field to browse through? Genuine question: why do you want to know why is towny? How would that aid you with this game?

And my answer is: still not much to label someone as "townie" but so far I like NinetyNineLies' vibes. There is something loose in his playstyle that feels like he isn't hiding anything.

I ask that question because I didn't have faith that any answer to the "who do you think is scum" question would be worth anything beyond insight into the answerer themselves, given how early we are into the game. On the contrary, I think it is possible to gain some insight into towniness early on, because (at least for my mentality) everyone starts out somewhat nebulously suspicious, and it's easier to say someone's actions are more towny than scummy. That's why I think it's more fruity, at least at this point in the game.

As for the second questions: I feel like the answer is obvious enough that the question seems somewhat disingenuous, but I'll play along. I want to know who is towny so that I can read their posts at face value, so that if someone builds a case against them I at least can have an idea that that person might have ulterior motives, and most importantly so that I don't vote them out so that we can win.

Now of course you could argue that if I were scum, I'd want to know who is towny so that I can try to disseminate misleading info about them, so I could build a case against them, or if town clearly trusts them, just kill them in the night phase. But then... if I were scum, I'd probably already know who were my teammates, or if I were SK, I'd already know I was likely on my own, and I'm working against both town and mafia. What is important for scum is knowing the roles of the town... but that's not what I was asking.

I'm not a particularly experienced nor the most intelligent player, so I might be wrong about aspects of this. But that's my mentality.

I'm not shooting Nictis N1 without an actually good reason and RPing is not one of them, N2 is another story but I'll cross that bridge if I actually get there.

Yes I'm basically claiming vig here but I'm going to restate I am an incredibly conditional vig with a condition that basically requires me to claim and direct my shot or I'm at the whims of the lord god almighty RNJesus himself, and he can fuck me pretty bad without trying so I'm just going to be open and pray people actually read what I say.

THOSE WHO READ ARE OFTEN BLIND. IT IS ONLY THOSE THAT ACT WHO CAN SEE. BLIND YOURSELF, THE ANSWERS ARE THERE.

That is very valuable to me, tho!

As for the second questions: I feel like the answer is obvious enough that the question seems somewhat disingenuous, but I'll play along. I just think that both "who do you think is mafia or town" is not such a productive question at D1. Like you said, a lot of people are still somewhat nebulously suspicious. Hence why I asked people about their votes which takes a bit more commitment. Still usually difficult to get something concrete, but it does give insight in how the answerer thinks, what their priorities are.

Now of course you could argue that if I were scum, I'd want to know who is towny so that I can try to disseminate misleading info about them, so I could build a case against them, or if town clearly trusts them, just kill them in the night phase. What is important for scum is knowing the roles of the town... but that's not what I was asking.

Or, if you were mafia, you could ask it to get a good as possible feeling for who is townie and then to kill them in the night. Of course mafia knows who is mafia and thus can make safe guesses at who is town and what possibly another faction. But to know which townies get trusted a lot is valuable knowledge.

I'm not a particularly experienced nor the most intelligent player, so I might be wrong about aspects of this. But that's my mentality.

And thanks for giving me an insight into that!

Is that not a good thing? If the things they slip through are trustworthy hints, why would you be wary of that?

Interesting.
