How to Train Your Endbringer

"Scheisse," Krum said.
unless krum just poured a drink or something over himself due to his suprise this curse doesnt make sense
now if you gave a bit of context i (or another native speaker) could likely help you find a more fitting curse
even if i kinda wonder why krum would curse in a forgeign language instead of his own native tongue?

What is his native language?

Edited because of confusion. Then put this invisible line here for giggles. .

Taylor is a lot like Hagrid, if she sees a giant fearsome creature or monster her first thought will always be "i am going to pet that". And thanks to the support from her friendly endbringer pals she WILL pet anything she wants to pet.

Max Anders talking to one of his underlings: "Hebert is not the boogeyman! She's the one you send to hug the boogeyman! She once hugged 3 Endbringers with a pencil! A f****ng pencil! Who does that?!"

Orbital Avada Kedavra artillery support, why has no-one ever thought of this before now? Genius!

Yes. This is what the story needs. Dragons with superpowers!

He had a oh shit we are going to die moment.
I have no idea why he would curse in German though.

since he is playing for the bulgarian national quidditch team i would assume bulgarian

Maybe it's more of a European thing, but soccer players often are in teams in non-native countries... If I recall correctly while Krum is Bulgarian his school and his role in HP is as a Middle European from a dark-ish setting... We don't know what the shared language of his school is, 'German' might be a reasonable guess...

National teams don't field non-native players, that's only for league clubs. I guess Quidditch could be different though.

yes but you cant just literally translate a curseword and have it make sense
sure 'Scheiße' is also a curse in german but it wont be used in the same way as 'shit' is in english

not if its the national teams then they are only able to play for their own countries
there are even rules on how long a player has to have had a nationality before he is permited to play for his new nations national team

its not known where durmstrang is exactly beyond the fact that its cold
and while its possible that german is the shared language of he school, a reflexive curse like krum uttered would usually be in ones native tongue...

Viktor Krum is supposed to be Bulgarian, except Rowling isn't that good at Bulgarian last names, so the effect is basically as if an English character was named "Victor Offa".

My personal experience is that which curses you use reflexively depends a lot on which ones you use most often, and thus tends to be the ones you use when in company of friends and/or family. So if Durmstrang does indeed have German as the main language, and if it's a boarding school that Krum spends 9 months a year at, then I could easily see him using German swear words. It would also help explain away arguments about the manner in which 'Scheiße' is used, since German is not Krum's native language and he might lack the sense for when to use a word. I'll note that it's not uncommon for me to use swears from other languages than my native one, nor is it in my experience uncommon for groups of friends to develop a jargon where they intentionally use words in situations where they don't really make sense. One of my close friends has a fondness for using the word 'Krankenhaus' (hospital) as a swear, just because he likes the sound of it. That's just my two cents though - I don't really care about how Krum swears.
