Holding Out For A Hero: An Original Superhero Quest

[X] Go for the weapon hand.
-[X] Use All Out: Determined.

Recklessly endangering innocents. Not inclined to talk things over. Dangerous and deadly. It doesn't add up to a nice calculus.

Yeah plus Sonya was never Batman. Like ever. Although she really will try as a Vigilantee we can be expected to take out people like this.

I'm a little worried about what the offical Capes will think as well as the Police and Public but I doubt many will really care for Artillery.

Guys - I think if we go for the head we miss even with going all out if it's a +5 to difficulty when we're missing by one and all out is only +4

Hmm.

Ugh.

EDIT: Could we go for the weapon arm at a lesser penalty?

Say, 3 points harder? Impose a penalty to rolls using that hand and literally disarm the enemy.

I would much rather miss and keep our defences up than hit, but leave ourselves exposed.

[X] Don't use all out

If we can't hit not getting hit ourselves is a good thing even with our armor we've taken damage this time.

Alright, looks like we're not using all out. Now, let's see if it was worth it

Napalm Grenade Part 4
You grab your sword and charge at the woman. If this fight keeps going, she's going to get someone killed. If not you or Sunspot, then your neighbors. And if not here, then somewhere else. She needs to be put down. But the sound of metal hitting concrete alerts Artillery and she leaps out of the way. Sunspot just barely redirects the flames to avoid you, and hits Artillery's armor. Artillery shouts an expiative and fires her energy pistol at you. You take a step back and a bolt of light of concussive force sails past you.

The blast smashes through the brickwork of a nearby house, collapsing the entire wall. Windows that were nearby shatter from the force. You take a second to look in the house, hoping that the people inside are alright. You see a fancy looking living room, and The Trett family's oldest daughter bolting out the back door. You don't see anyone else in the house.

In that time, Artillery fires it at Sunspot. A bright blue energy blast fires from the pistol. The blast hits the cape square in the chest, sending the man flying backwards, through a second story glass window of one of your neighbors. Flames from his hands still spewing, it catches the wooden sections alight.

She spins around and aims the pistol at you. On reflex, you summon your barrier one more time. But this time, it isn't the smooth barrier you used to block her shotgun before. You feel yourself using more mana this time, and instead of the smooth barrier you meant to summon, a hexagonal, glass-like barrier forms right in front of you, just an inch from Artillery's hand. Before she can react, she pulls the trigger. The blue bolt hits your barrier, and is reflected back at the shooter coated in a white light. She doesn't even have time to change her expression before the white bolt of magic hits her square in the chest.

It's almost like someone tied a string to her midsection and she's being pulled back by some invisible force. Her goggles fly off. She hits the driver's side door of a nearby van, causing it to bend inward, her head going through the glass. She slumps to the ground, battered and barely breathing, armor melted in some places. But even then, she looks at you with nothing but anger once her gaze can focus.

"Fuck..." She says through gritted teeth. "You... you just got lucky, bitch. *Ow*... this doesn't prove a damn thing..." She tries to move her arm, still holding pistol.

[] Subdue her.
[] Kill her.

Would be nice to have some words on how the laser hits her.

so subdue or kill?

Thank you Agent!
On one hand we have a good chance for a successful capture. On another, we can ensure that she never hurts anyone again.

It's a time identify the Vigil some more.

[X] Subdue her.
Hero is RIGHT there. And yes that might mean getting arrested but at least it'll make working with us more palatable.

[X] Subdue her

Honorable Knight of Hartford.

a good plan name and a good nickname I think.

"Who are you?!"

"The Honorable Knight of Hartford"

[X] Subdue her

I have no problem with killing in combat. That happens. They knew the risks. Especially if you're up against someone close enough to your own power you don't have the luxury of playing nice. Swords are not soft.

This is no longer that. She is no longer threatening anyone. She is at our mercy. Now we have the luxury of attempting to bind and restrict their movement so they can't hurt people any more.

Killing in cold blood wouldn't jive with our previous decisions, nor the written reaction to the death of L-something or other. Lucious? Whatever, we're not killers. We're a mother and an artisan. Just take all her shit and tie her up.
