Holding Out For A Hero: An Original Superhero Quest

[X] Just fly up. There's no way she can hit you if you aren't close to the ground, right?

Wow... It's been a while.

I'm sorry for not updating this quest for... a long time. I don't know why I haven't been updating this quest. It started as having a bit of writer's block, then before I knew it, a month and a half has passed. I'm sorry that I haven't been more diligent in keeping this quest going. And, if there's still interest, I'll make sure to keep updates up more consistently.

If anyone is still interested, then please roll 3d6 to dodge.

Now, for a quick couple of character Sheets and some rolls.

Temple Chop Shop Raid Part 5
Temple flies straight up. his specially designed hood staying over his eyes as he lifts himself up off of the ground. The plan was to gain some altitude and stay out of range of whatever Myra, the bear woman, could attack him with. Given that she could be described as a brick with teeth and claws, most of that would be short range. Myra stares at Temple, then goes back into the garage. But as soon as she enters, she exits, holding all manner of heavy equipment. One by one, she tosses objects at Temple.

A toolbox smashes Temple's face. Nails, a hammer, two wrenches, and Temple's teeth fly everywhere as the hero is knocked out of the sky.

Temple jerks to the left to dodge the toolbox, sending it sailing to parts unknown. His Precognition could only let him see a few seconds into the future, but it was invaluable when it came to knowing where attacks would be. As Temple gets higher, Myra keeps throwing objects. Tires, a prybar, even an air pump all come soaring at Temple. He ducks, bobs, and weaves away from the objects as they keep flying his way.
As Myra is throwing tools at the Hero, Bobby Renyolds, technopath and car thief takes stock of his options. She's going to run out of things to throw eventually, and then that Hero is going to come down and kick someone's ass.

He waves his hand at the car, and the engine starts. A click confirms that the doors are unlocked. A quick hop in the driver's seat, and gets ready to drive away.

------------------------------------------------

Inside of the house....

"Well, maybe if you made some real money, we wouldn't be having this problem!" Jessica Hendricks shouts at her accomplice/husband William Hendricks. The air in the room had gotten cold as she started to tap into her powers. The chop shop that they had been running had been making money, but not as much or as fast as she would have liked. She'd been working her ass off finding sellers for the parts, but the parts William and Bobby were getting weren't selling for enough.

"Hey, we work out asses off every day stripping cars down. I'm the one getting driving all over the city selling these things. What the fuck do you do all day? Sit on your ass, bitching at me! And half of what we make goes up your nose!"

"Don't you talk to me like that! Don't you fucking talk to me like that! As least I'm not-"

As the two of them continue to argue, neither of them notice a creeping shadow slip underneath their door. The unseen shadow rises out of the ground behind the shouting man. It was six feet tall, taking a vaguely humanoid shape. It has a head, though no discernable hair or facial features, a torso, and four limbs, though it's hands only looked like hands if one didn't look too closely. It stands behind William and it's forearm morphs into a blade. But it stands there. Jessice sees the shape, but aside from a brief pause when it started to form, she didn't let it break her stride.

"Well FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU, YOU GENUINE SHIT! YOU CAN... What are you waiting for, Blackout! Just get it the fuck over with!" Jessica shouted.

"Wait, wh-" Is all William manages to croak before the blade pierces through his chest. He looks down at the blade, now covered in his blood, then back up at Jessica who is wiping blood off of her face with a look of disgust. With a single motion, the being behind him pulls the blade out, leaving William collapses on the ground in a growing puddle of blood.

Jessica look at the fallen man with annoyance. "Ugh, I think some of it got in my mouth... Why didn't you stab him sooner" She wipes the blood off of her face with a look of disgust. A mouth starts to form where the shape's face would be. There weren't any lips, or tongue but that didn't seem to prevent them from talking.

"I was wondering when he'd notice" they say with a shrug. They shake some of the excess blood from their blade-arm "Looks like he didn't. Too bad for him, huh"

"Well, he never was that bright. Once the life insurance goes through, I'll give you your cut" Jessica walks to the kitchen and takes a sandwich bag with a bit of white powder. "Still, I thought you were only here for backup." Jessica says. She starts to pour the cocaine into rails, chopping it up with a credit card. "Aren't two other guys supposed to actual be doing the hit? Robbery gone wrong'll sell better with the cops than a Villain murdering"

"There's a Hero outside. Took 'em both out, so I had to do it. If you want something done right, huh?" Blackout made a sound that sounded like chuckling.

"Yeah, " Jessica says as she gets out a straw. She snorted a rail of coke in one sniff. But before she could finish the second rail, she realized just what Blackout had said. "Wait, a what is outside?!" Jessica shouts, storming back into the living room. "There's a Hero outside and you didn't fucking say anything?!" She shouted.

"Yeah. Hero. One of the new ones, I think." Blackout says unperturbed at the rapidly dropping temperature and the face that Jessica's breath was coming out as a mist. "You know, you should mix gunpowder with that stuff later. I heard it gets rid of chest pains."

"GRAAA! Fucking c- forget it! Just forget it!" Jessica shouts. "Do what you want. I'm getting out of here. Let Myra deal with this shit if she wants."As Jessica gets ready to go out the back door and, hopefully, disappear into the woods, William's finger twitch slightly.

------------------------------------------------
As Temple continues to rise, the objects come at a less frequent rate. Though none could get high enough to hit Temple in either case. Several hundred feet in the air, Temple was out of range of anything that Myra could, literally, throw at him

Myra is shouting something, but Temple can't hear her. But peering into her mind, she gets a basic idea. A lot of rage, aimed at Temple right now, but it seems that the rage is there just in general. That's when an expensive sports car, a bright red Prosche tears out of the garage. It swerves, nearly hitting Myra as it heads for the road.

Myra grumbles and heads back to the garage, the Porsche Speeding off into the distance. As she comes back out, she's carrying a large rifle. Her large finger barely fits between the trigger guard and the and fires. Temple barely manages to dodge the shot, but she quickly corrects her aim and gets ready to shoot again...

Temple swore as the vision played in the back of his mind. He should've known he couldn't stay up here forever. He should've- no, he knew he would be getting into situations like this before he even got here, but he was getting a lot less confident in his abilities...

But every Hero had to start somewhere. And it was practically their job to go into overwhelming odds. Corporal Steel and Jetstream are both fighting their asses off on other missions, and so was he. And... he said he'd be able to take on these guys before he was sent here. And his bosses would probably be disappointed if he left without making any arrests.

[]Retreat, and come back when the cops are ready or when half the heroes in the city aren't injured or in another state. (Roll Will to overcome "Can't Say No" Quirk)
[] Go down and fight her, even though it puts him in danger.
- [] Pull Myra away from the garage and force her in a fight.
- [] Use Telekesis to throw the Porsche at Myra.
-- [] Use Telekenesis to control the peddles and steering wheel to run Myra over. (Telekinesis -2)
- [] Go down low enough to hit her with Psychic Blasts
- [] Try to Mind Control Myra into giving up. Temple isn't trained in Mind Control, but if it works, it takes her out of the fight immediately. (Telepathy -4)

(Optional) -[] Use Extra Effort for a +2 to your Psychic related rolls. Spend 1 Fatigue Point

[X] Go down and fight her, even though it puts him in danger.
-[X] Pull Myra away from the garage and force her in a fight.

Well guys, I'm writing my next update, but before I do, I'm going to explain a bit about the next update.

Hitting 0 HP isn't necessarily the end. If a character hits 0 HP, they will roll a Constitution Check. If they pass the check, they will remain conscience. If they fail, they will become unconscious/dead. They will keep rolling CON checks every time they lost their total amount of HP. (EG someone hitting -13 HP or -26 HP) This can continue several times depending on how narratively important the character is.

However, if someone rolls a critical success on their CON check like William did, they will be alive, conscience, and stabilized. Meaning that, They will no longer take any sort of Bleeding damage unless the condition is inflicted again, and they are, well, alive and conscience. However, if they lose enough HP, they will still need to roll another CON check.

Anyway, as for the rolls. I'm going to need two Telekinesis Checks. One for getting Myra away from her weaponry, and one for the actual fight.

ALright, I'm almost gone with the next post. I just need some rolls.

In the meantime, another character sheet for one of the opponents

Temple starts to descent. As he feels the air pass him by as he heads back to earth, he knows that he couldn't do much from up here. As he descended, Myra lifted off of the ground a few inches. "What the... you piece of shit!" She yells as she tries to dislodge herself from Temple's telekinetic grip. But with nothing physical to push against, she's stuck. But even lifting her up for a few seconds was taking it's tole. Temple could feel beads of sweat falling down her forehead. With another rough pull, Myra is yanked backwards. Myra falls backwards, slamming into the ground.

About 20 feet in the air, Temple gathered a ball of psychic energy in his hand. The ball was white, some of it was opaque, some nearly transparent. Myra starts to pick herself up from the ground, looking at Temple with hatred in her eyes. Once the orb is formed, Temple fires the sphere at Myra. Myra doesn't try to dodge. She just crosses her arms in front of her and took the brunt of the blast. The bear woman pushed back a few inches, but she stands firm.

"Is that all you got, little man?" Myra says, smiling enough to show off her sharp teeth. Temple fires off another blast. Myra shrugs the blast off again. "I'll tear you apart!" Myra shouts. The bear woman starts to charge. Temple fires one more blast, this time, the ball of Telekenetic energy hits Myra square in the chest, but the 500 pound woman didn't slow down. Faster than someone her size should be, she closes the distance in less than a second. Still in the air, Temple thought that there was no way Myra could reach him.

But the vision hit him before Temple could react. Myra jumps up. Temple tries to fly up to avoid her, but Myra grabs his ankles and pulls him down as she falls.

"AHHH!" Temple yells. For a few seconds, he loses control of his levitation, and the two superhumans plummeted to the ground. Myra lands hard on her feet, but Temple slams no his back, Myra's hands still wrapped around his ankles. "Lights out, Hero." Myra says as she pulls Temple closer.

Myra glares the claws on her hand, and plunges the claws into Temple's head. The claws pierce his skull, and go through his eyes. Temple's life fades before Myra manages to dislodge her claws from the man's skull.

Temple fires another Telekenetic Blast at Myra's arm, knocking her arm a foot to the right, embedding her claws in the ground. Myra pulls back and tries to strike at him again, but Temple uses telekinesis to move himself out of the way. "Hold still and die like a man!" Myra seethes before trying to strike him again. But this time, Temple stretches his arms out and aims right at Myra's face. He fires one last Telekinetic Blast at Myra. Myra's head snaps backwards as the sphere hits her in the face. While she's still reeling, Temple lifts the heavy criminal off of him and floats backwards. Fear and exhaustion cause him to breath heavily. He was about to gather his energy to attack again, when he hears a massive crashing sound from behind. It sounded like Stampede crashing another robot through a building. Wood and glass crashing. Temple could sense a lot of emotion, fear, anger. A lot of emotion, but not much thought, so he had no idea what was going on. Myra's eyes widen as she looks at something to your right. "Woah!" Is all she can say. For a moment, Temple wanted to look back, just to see what was going on, what could possibly be behind him and if it could be a threat.

[] Don't look.
[] Look back.

Fright Check Explanation

Well guys, sorry for the short delay. I'm almost done with the next chapter. But first, I need a Fright Check roll.

For a Fright Check, a character rolls their Will. If they roll under their Will, they are will avoid freezing, panicking, or having any other psychological effects. But if they roll over, they roll another 3d6, and add how much they failed their fright check by.

4- 5: Stunned for 1 second
6-7 Stunned for 1 second. Roll Will to come out of Stun.
8-10. Stunned for 1d seconds. Roll Will to come out of Stun.
11-13. Stun for 2d seconds.
14-16 Stun for 2d seconds. Roll Will to come out of Stun.
17-20. Stun for 2d seconds. Roll Will to come out of Stun. Acquire a new Mental Quirk based on what caused the fright check
21-22 Panic for 1d minutes.
23-24: Acquire a new Phobia
25+ Faint

I'll post an update tomorrow, but fir right now, I need someone to roll a Will roll for Temple. If that roll is above 12, then roll another 3d6

Alright, just a few more dice rolls, and I can finish up the post.
