Holding Out For A Hero: An Original Superhero Quest

Temple Chop Shop Raid Part 7
Temple looks at Myra, and gathered more telekinetic energy in his hand. There was something going on behind him. Something that Myra clearly wasn't expecting. But more importantly, her eyes were off of him for a second. Temple throws another psychic blast at the bear woman. The pure white blast hits her square in the chest.

Myra charges the man again, and again, Temple flies upward to avoid her, then to the left to keep her from grabbing his leg and pulling him down.

Temple charges up another blast and aims it at Myra's face. The woman shields her face from the blast, but the blast never comes. In that brief second that she was focused on protecting herself, Temple flies above her and, places a hand on either side of her head.

"What are you..." Before she could finish the sentence, Myra's eyes started to become unfocused. The edges of her vision were starting to blur. Normally, Temple could only read minds. But like all psychics with telepathic powers, he could control them. In theory. Mind Control was extremely powerful, and extremely illegal for anyone who wasn't a Hero. Even as a Hero, he was only given some training in it, with further training restricted until he had been a Hero for a few more years.

But right now, Temple had to bring Myra down, and was using all of his psychic power to try and get Myra to go to sleep. Which is why he didn't see Myra grabbing him until her hands were already around his torso. Myra threw him to the ground in front of her. A pain shot up his left shoulder as it hit the ground and Temple let out a cry. Myra was above him, trying to shake the psychically induced fog from her head.

"Oh... you think you can worm your way into my head, little man?" Myra said. Her voice was low, and filled with a an absolute hate that hadn't been there before. Before, killing him was just business. But Temple could sense the anticipation, the pleasure she would get from his death. "Just for that, I'm gonna rip your throat out With. My. Teeth." She flashed a grin, showing a row of long and sharp teeth and let out a loud, bestial roar.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Jasmine can only stare at the pillar of stone piercing through her heart and pinning her to the wall before she collapses, dead. She looks up to see William Hendrix slowly climb up to his feet. There was still a gaping hole in his chest, but by some miracle, none of his vital organs were touched.

"You..." He tries to say. "You ungrateful…" He looked at the head body of Jessica Hendrix. He was more angry over the betrayal, than the fact that he had just killed her.

"Huh, I must be getting old. Usually that works."

William turns around and sees Blackout, with a similar pillar of stone piercing their heart. But there was no blood rushing from the wound. No moans of pain or any sign of injury. They tilt their head as they look at William.

"What the fuck are you..." William says.

Blackout didn't answer the question immediately. They just stepped forward, Their body was writhing and twisting around the sphere impaling them, until they were completely free from it. "Does that really matter?" Blackout asked.

"Well, I'm gonna kill ya either way, so I guess not!" William said. Suddenly, t
he house's foundation started shaking. Blackout didn't try to move as a column of rock and stone shot up where Blackout once stood. Carrying the shadowy form of Blackout, the column crashed through the ceiling. Through the floor above, and through the roof and kept going. Wood, roof tiles, even a rug were launched through the air. A shingle nearly hitting Temple as he launched another Telekinetic blast.

Blackout reduced themselves into a dark shape and flew through the air at the criminal. As soon as the shape hit the ground, they lash out at William's legs. The man used his arms and through himself over a nearby couch, with the sharp tendril barely missing his legs. But William tumbled onto the floor, in front of the couch. Blackout, leaned over the couch, their shape forming

"Do you want me to finish you off now, or just leave you to bleed out?" Blackout asked, half mocking and half almost genuine concern.

"Eat this, shit for brains!"

This time, the column hit Blackout's head. A screeching sound came from Blackout as the column dragged him towards a wall, followed by five more. The tide of earth crashed into the wall. Sending several large, cracking it. Some of the cearth kept pinning the shadow down, while the rest crashed into it, again, and again. The pictures handing on the walls collapsed. The windows above cracked and shattered. Until the wall gave way and collapsed. Wood and brick crashed to the ground as the wall gave way. And the shadow was nowhere to be seen. William started to pant as he used the couch to push himself up to see his work. There was a hole where the wall once stood,

William started to lift himself off of the floor to survey his work. There was no sign of a body anywhere. No blood, red, black or otherwise. It looked like that Blackout had run away. "Huh! Is that all you got you freak?!" William called out with a large grin plastered on his face.

"Not even close."

William tried to turn around but a black tendril wrapped around his neck and yanked him to the ground. The ground that wasn't the wood floor that sovered the rest of the room, but was a pure black shadow that was Blackout. As William stared upwards, six tendrils rose from the floor, three on either side, with a seventh rising from above him. In a last ditch effort, William moved a large stone the size of a hubcap in front of him. The dark tendril pierced through the stone with little effort, and sunk into William's chest. The man could only scream as the other six tendrils rose up, ready to tear him apart.

-------------------------------------------
Temple lifted himself of the ground with telekinesis, and propelled himself back before Myra's teeth could close around his throat. Pushing himself upright, he fired another Telekenetic Blast, hoping to blind Myra again. But this time, she out her arm up and took the blast, before charging again. Temple fired another blast, this time catching Myra's legs, causing her to stumble, and once again, Temple flew behind her and placed a hand on either side of Myra's head.

"Gotosleepgotosleepgotosleepgotosleep…" Temple muttered as tried to put Myra to sleep before she could try to . Myra swiped at Temple with her large paws but he leaned to one side, making the hit go wide.

"Youuuuu shiiiiiit…" Myra said. Even as she was reaching to throw him off of her again, her voice was starting to slur. As she grabbed Temple again, her grip slipped off. She
fell to her knees, then collapsed onto the ground, snoring heavily. Temple took his hands off of her head, his body was still shaking. He did it. This was the first time he had been out alone on anything but patrol, but he'd taken down out another Super.

That was when he was able to see the state of the house. There were several columns of earth jutting out of the roof. A wall on the side of the house was gone, with more earth spilling out of the hole.

Before Temple could wonder just what had happened, the tower of earth collapses back onto the house. With the power sustaining the towers gone, gravity took back control, sending the earth crashing back down to the ground. The rocks were bashing the roof and the dirt covered the area around it as if a small sandstorm was blowing through the house.

Temple stops as he sees a shapeless mass of shadows slink out of the destroyed home through the dirt. As the shape comes into the light, it takes on a humanoid form. At first, Temple thinks that the dirt is just distorting his vision, but as t he shape comes out, he sees that there aren't any details. All he sees is a black, humanoid shape, covered in blood. Temple recognizes the being immediately. He's never fought them himself, but he's known about Blackout. Blackout a mercenary whose been active in Hartford for the better part of a decade. They would often work for different groups, whether it's individual villains like The Giant, and The Crows, or groups like the Mobs. Even when one employer would get wiped out by a rival or gets arrested by a Cape, Blackout would slink away, only to be seen working for another employer.

What the fuck were they doing here?

"Well, that was a lot messier than it should've been..." Blackout said as they kept walking before finally noticing Temple. They turn their eyeless face towards the young cape.

"Huh, looks like I wasn't the only one working today. You're the new Cape, aren't you?" they say. They then look on the ground, to the two mobsters that Temple knocked out. "You can have them if you want. I was just supposed to babysit them, and I ended up doing all the work. Can't find good help these days, can you?" They then reach into... their own body. A small hole, about the size of a fist opens, and they take out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

"Well, I've done my job. Though if you're here for the other guys, they're already dead. Jessica hired me to kill her husband, and Willie got to 'er first. Still, I've already got paid, so it's no skin off my bones" They shrug, and put the cigarette in another hole near their face. It closes to perfectly fit the cigarette before they light it. "You smoke, kid?" They ask, the cigarette not seeming to affect their voice.

"N-no!" Temple said. Honestly, he was proud of himself that his voice didn't crack. Blackout was wanted for at least a dozen different crimes. Murder, Intimidation, Kidnapping, Extortion and who knows what else.
Taking Blackout down, it would be great for the city. A blow for at least half a dozen criminal organizations that he could remember. But, he only had a vague idea of what Blackout's powers were. Temple knew that Blackout could turn into shadows and form themselves into weapons. But anything beyond that... Dammit, he wish he paid more attention when he was reading Blackout's dossier.

Still, what Temple does know if that Blackout hasn't killed a Cape yet, but there's no reason that they wouldn't start now...

"Good. Nasty habit." Blackout said as they light the cigarette. "Though I guess the kids are vaping now-a-days." They say with a bit of disgust. But Temple was still weighing his options. If there was a Villain that was too tough for you to take on alone, you were supposed to call for backup. But Jetstream was in another city chasing down another speedster, so she could be in Guatemala by now for all he knew. Steel was handling a hostage situation so he wouldn't he able to make it. Saber was at a funeral, so she might be able to make it in a few minutes, though. But by the time backup got here, Blackout would be leave, and Temple doubted that he could follow a living shadow in a dark forest.

"Wait, you aren't planning on righting me, are you?" Blackout says. "Because, that would be... ill advised..."

The time was now. Temple had to make a decision.

[] "You're under arrest, Blackout! In the name of the City of Hartford, surrender."
- [] Try to read their mind to sense any weaknesses.
- [] Write in your strategy when he resists.
[] Just start fighting him. Violence is going to start soon, so you may as well be the one to start it.

- [] Write in your strategy.

[] Let him go.
[] Call for backup and follow Blackout. It's the right thing to do, even if it's likely that you'll lose them.
[] Have a smoke before you report in.

Uhh, Blackout just went 'lol' to everything earth-boy threw at him, and while Temple MIGHT be able to beat him via Mind Control? I'm not liking my chances when he's dinged and more importantly, VERY tired.
Lick your wounds, take the pot you've got, and let him go. Bosses won't like it but the side of Good is reeling right now, and it's better to take a small win then to gamble and lose big.

Not to lean anyone one way or another but... there's a reason why I have Blackout's HP as unknown rather than representing it in numbers. Because of their physiology, determining whether an attack hurt Blackout, or how much is difficult. But I'm not going to put any character in a fight that they don't have a chance of winning. it is possible to take Blackout down. Whether it's figuring out just what his weakness is, or, well, just hitting him with stuff and seeing what sticks. Trial and error and all that.

Blackout merits backup. I doubt we could attack him in his lazy or nicotine although that might be fun for temple later.

Looks like everyone's done voting. Since there's a tie, I'm rolling a dice to see which option we're going with

Post Mortem
Temple looks on as the shadow slinks off into the darkness. He was desinately going to pretend tat the last 30 seconds didn't happen, because letting a villain go without so much as a fight… well it didn't look good on him. If anyone asked, he never saw Blackout. But he had to report something right now. May as well g

"TOC" He said into his earpiece to Tactical Operations Command. He had to report sooner or later.

"Requesting mission report. How'd things go over there, Temple?"

Temple looked around. He managed to capture one of the criminals, but one got away, and two were dead, and the house nearly collapsed.

"It… could have been better."

----------------------
Later That Night...

It was another late night at the Hartford City Morgue. Unfortunately for the coroners Doctor Bentley Harper and his assistant, Bradley Lancaster, it was a busy day. Harper had learned to not complain a long time ago. There was always something going on in the city, always another gurney being brought in, and it was his job to find out what was behind their deaths. Usually it was to help catch whoever was behind it.

But this time, it was just another thing to record. The woman on the autopsy table was in her mid 30's. Black hair with strands of gray. Several track marks in her left arm showed she had been injecting… something into her bloodstream until shortly before her death. A bullet had been removed from her shoulder, a souvenir from her recent escape attempt, as well as two more recovered from her chest, Where they came from, Harper didn't know. Her organs, most of which were now Her name is, or was, Dr. Amelia Hamilton, otherwise known as Dr. Lussiac. She had a short lived career as a Villian before she was killed earlier today in a fight against The Vigil, a Vigilante that had started operating recently. The police reports were filed, and all that was left was to determine the cause of death.

Lussiac had been shot at least once, and fell/was thrown off of a moving semi truck, so either it was shock following the gunshot, or massive trauma. At least, that's what Harper was betting on. But one of the officers said that he found The Vigil casting some sort of spell on Lussiac shortly before she died. He said that it was a healing spell, but they would need to bring in a specialist in to make sure. Besides, unless The Vigil was big on law and order, making sure everyone got a fair trial, there wasn't much of a reason for them to heal Lussiac.

Given the crimes that she had committed that day alone, half a dozen police officers killed, the Police Chief assassinated during a funeral. There wasn't a wet eye in the city when Lussiac bit it. No one knew why she did it yet, but he was sure that the techs would find something on her computer. For now, he just had his job to do. And while they did it, they were discussing something very important.

"I don't watch any of that new crap. Everything is just mass-produced studio drek. " Dr. Lancaster asked as picked up a scalpel. They had removed most of her organs, as was procedure, take a sample for testing before they put them back in the body.

"Brad, your favorite movie was literally made by pasting a pair of unfinished scripts together." Harper said as he looked at his younger assistant. "The suit she" he pointed to Lussiac. "was wearing probably cost more than that movie"

"Hey, 'John Doe Must Die' is a treasure, and I will not hear a bad word spoken about it" Lancaster said as he prepared to cut her lungs. "Besides, it was sincere! There was love in it!"

But as he was about to saw through Lussiac's head, a bright yellow glow started to appear in her chest. Her stomach, which had been cut open for the autopsy, was starting to heal, the two flaps of skin that were peeled open started to close themselves, until only a 'Y' shaped scar remained.

Lancaster could only stand there, mouth agape as Lussiac's fingers twitched. Her legs, which had been shattered in the fall, were knitting themselves back together.

"Run!" Harper yelled, himself already sprinting for the door. But Lancaster stood there, frozen in fright. As her face started twitching, he started to whimper. Lussiac didn't have any powers. And no one in the city could bring the dead back to life as far as he knew. This shouldn't' be happening, but there was no denying what was going on right in front of him.

Then, her eyes shot open.

"GHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Came a scream from the former corpse of Dr Lussiac as her body seized and she bent in a way that threatened to break her back again.

This time, the doctor finally let out a scream and ran, but the woman on the autopsy table didn't notice. She hadn't even noticed he was there in the first place. All she could do was stare at the ceiling

Dr. Lussiac was alive again. She started to look around. The last thing that she remembered was falling off the truck. About how she was lying on the side of the road. About how she had lost consciousness. And somewhere between then and now, she ended up here.

She rolled off the table and fell to the floor. Her entire body was numb. She felt empty. Literally empty. Like there were physical parts of her missing. But this was not a hospital.

Then she looked on a table and saw them. Clear containers that had organs, her organs in them. They were all labeled with her real name. Her kidneys, her liver.

Her lungs, her heart.

She looked down at her torso, and saw the 'Y' shaped incision, or rather, the prominent scar left over from the incision. She looked down at it, then at her organs. She should have been dead. She started to stumble out of the morgue grabbing a pair of surgical scissors from the tray or surgical tools. She didn't know what was going on. Maybe she was dead. Maybe she was a ghost. She wouldn't have believed in such things a few hours ago, but, apparently, a lot had happened since then. All she knew was that she had to get out of this building She was 5 feet from the entrance when the door opened.

"Police! Drop your weapon!"

Lussiac looked at the room's lone entrance to see a police officer. He had an anger in his eyes as he pointed a gun at her. "I said drop the fucking blade! " He shouted.

Lussiac charged at the cop. The officer brought his arm up to block the blade and swung Lussiac around, slamming her into the wall opposite of the room. He followed up with three shots. The third missed, but the first hit right in the chest, and the second hit her right in the neck.

But as Lussiac stumbled backwards, against the wall, but she didn't try to breath even with the hole in her neck.

In fact, she didn't need to breath at all.

"Wha- what the fuck?!" The cop said. And Lussiac was thinking the same thing. Something had happened. Was she Powered? No, she'd been tested when she was a kid. Was it a reaction with the chemicals that she had made? No, that couldn't be it either. Even if anything she made could simulate death, she'd have died when her organs were taken.

This was… fascinating.

Maybe she could look into this more. But first, she needed to get out of this building. She raised her scissors at the cop, who was still too stunned that this woman had taken

He was only stunned for a second.

A second was all she needed.

So I'm not mad at Lussiac being alive - aliveish.

I'm just cackling because that's a perfect critical fail! Just between the villain coming back to life but also it happening between organs removed and organs replaced....

And I do think that either Valkeryie and or Vigil will be having questions asked because ah that's not usual.

Right?

I'm so glad to see her back though. Things are about to get interesting all over again.

Honestly I think it's a combination of whatever yellow chemical she out in herself and a metaphorical ton of magic

But as he was about to saw through Lussiac's head, a bright yellow glow started to appear in her chest.

Yellow glow

She reached into a pouch and took out a syringe filled with a yellow fluid. Taking the cap off of the needle she injected herself with the painkiller. A second later, the pain in her arm lessened to a dull thud. She could function like this, but she couldn't sit on a truck bleeding like a stuck pig forever.

Yellow painkiller

"Oh no. You aren't getting off that easy" You reach out and try to stabilize Lussiac. To close her wounds so she doesn't bleed out. You don't like her. But she deserves her day in court. She deserves to go on trial for what she's done. But when you cast the spell to heal Lussiac, nothing happens. Her wounds don't heal. Blood continues to come out of her legs, and her shoulder wound.

"What the…" You say, looking at your gauntleted hand. This spell should work. You've used it yourself just yesterday. You cast it again. Nothing. Blood is still pouring out of Lussiac's gunshot wound. Lussiac looks up at you trying to cast a spell to save her life. The dying woman doesn't say anything. She just composes herself, resigned to her fate. "Looks like it really is my time…" This time a fully powered healing spell. You cast it, and it doesn't seem to do anything.

"Come on!" You say between gritted teeth as you charge up more power than you've ever used in a healing spell and cast it on Lussiac. Your hair is starting to stand up on end. You feel a pressure behind your eyes as you put more and more energy into the spell

2x of stabilization rates for bullet bleed out and unknown trauma

1x full heal

1x hydro pump of healing magic until apparent death

That last one basically gives our qm a lot of leeway. Sonja isn't a hedge witch. Lack of control and knowledge has always been her problem not lack of power

Right?

I'm so glad to see her back though. Things are about to get interesting all over again.

Yeah - for all that Lussiac is a maniac she's fun. Also I really want to continue the argument over justice - and if Lussiac has a decent reason to go on a revenge rampage- she really didn't have to go murder crazy on uninvolved bystanders

Are we still doing omakes or are waiting for the story to advance a bit?

You get in position, sheathing your sword and shield. You hear the footsteps get closer and you take a deep breath, anticipating the fight that could come if you mess this up. As soon as the man opens the door, you lunge forward, faster than the man can react. In one motion, you punch him in the face, pull him closer, spin him around and use your left arm to choke the man. He lets out a short gasp and tries in vein to pry your arm off of him so he can slip under, but your strength makes his efforts fruitless.

Yup.

I didn't want to just have a crit fail be. Your powers don't work." And crit fails shouldn't always be you failing at that skill. It can also be you using that skill to make things go horribly right.

As for Vigil and Valkeryie, they both have powers that, in theory could lead to this happening. Val with her blood magic and Vigil with her... magic magic.

So, you know how some of the criminal NPCs have the Disadvantage "Active Warrants"...?

Not quite. Mummies get chemical preservatives.

And were eaten by people who were trying for medicinal purposes, but that's neither here nor there.

The organ removal and jarring is part of the ritual
Technically, the organ removal wasn't necessary for this to have happened. Lussiac just happened to have her organs removed when the magic kicked in.
Are we still doing omakes or are waiting for the story to advance a bit?
That's entirely up to you. I'm going to need to update my Pokémon quest, so I'll need to pause this one for a few days.

I'll fix that once I finish playing Organ Trail.

Well. We can kiss that pop-idol contact good-bye. And consider our goodwill with the cops to make them slightly slower in chasing us.
But reviving what may become a major villian? Hahahaha...We be screwed if we get caught. I don't see Vigil responding well to learning she was the one who revived Lussiac. Worse yet? This becomes an EXCELLENT example of why VIgilantism is bad, and People with Powers need to be cracked down on. That sort of thing kind of tends to be an easy Villian maker in the making.
What I HOPE, is that this goes hand-in hand with some sort of recruitment drive-we can ditch our identity as The Vigil, which will suck, sure, but if Temple's any indication we should be getting into messes big enough and Valkyrie is proof that they're willing to deal with people with...checkered pasts. So SOME good news there.

Admittedly I think the big thing there is that honestly we have the advantage that I don't think anyone fully believes that someone with how many missing organs just stood up again.

So it's less brought someone back from the dead being what they think happened on purpose (especially as Vigil is the one credited with killing Lussiac) and more that Vigil isn't exactly going to stop on by and answer questions of what the heck just happened. So doing so by force is kinda necessary

Later That Night
Later that night

Corporal Steel, real name Emmitt Carter, was staring at his computer at the dossiers of several potential recruits. All of them at least passed a psychological evaluation and background check. Normally, this would go to Starhammer, but he was still in California fighting wildfires, so evaluating potential recruits fell to the next senior member, him. There were about four dozen people in the list and most of them weren't going to make the cut. Marigold could summon weapons, From switch blades to laser cannons. But she seemed more... enthusiastic than accurate. Lenard had experience in SWAT and it looked like he was dedicated. But he was starting to get older, and he didn't have any of the powers or physical skills to make the cut in being a Hero. Staff Sergeant Ballater… he was an army man like Carter himself. He had teleportation powers, good combat record... but there were some serious allegations made against him. And the allegations were made to go away in a... suspicious matter. It was a red flag that Carter could see coming a mile away.

The final decision wasn't his to make, but he could offer input and recommendations at this stage in recruitment, and so far, he'd have to give a hard pass on half of the people here. As he looked at another dossier, his phone started to vibrate. Taking a sip of his now cold coffee, Carter looked at his phone's caller ID.

C. G.

Carter almost sank into his chair. C. G. Charles Gallagher. He was the Head of the Local Department of Superhuman Affairs. In short, his boss's boss. In the 13 years he'd known the man, he never called with good news. "Director" Carter said. He didn't bother to ask what he needed, since Gallagher would tell him anyway.

"Lussiac is still alive" Charles Gallagher says without any preamble.

"You're shitting me" Carter says. He felt an anger rise up in his chest. She was supposed to have been killed earlier today. Vigil had killed her on the highway. And even though it wasn't right, he was glad to hear the news, even if Jetstream probably would've liked to get her hands on Lussiac first and toss what was left in a cell for the rest of eternity. Hell, he'd want to do that to after what she did to Sanaz. "What happened? Did the EMT screw up and declare her DOA?"

"No" Charles says. "She... she was on the autopsy table, and..."

Emmitt didn't like this. Charles never paused like this. Emmitt braced himself for whatever came next.

"Her organs had been- several of her organs were removed, Carter" Gallagher said, as if he couldn't believe it himself. "Removed, packaged, and ready to... have whatever coroners do to organs done to them. In the middle of the autopsy, Lussiac's chest wounds closed on their own and she knifed another cop on her way out."

"Jesus..." Emmitt said. He wiped the sweat off of his bald head. "Do you think that Vigil had something to do with this? He was casting some sort of spell on Lussiac." He didn't want to assume anything. From what he had read, Vigil had been working against Lussiac for some time. It was unlikely that what happened was intentional. But that didn't rule out an it being unintentional.

"We don't know" Ghallagher said. "Some people who use magic can put themselves or others in a dead like state and revive them, but having one or two critical organs cut out, and you're dead."

Carter slumped in his chair. The migraine that had been reduced to a dull thud had come back with a vengeance. It looked ike if something went well, something else had to fuck up. He stopped a hostage crisis and Jetstream took down a criminal that had been operating all around the state, so Sanaz got hurt and the villain who hurt her may have literally come back from the dead. "So, how are we gonna play this?"

"The Mayor's office wants this dealt with quietly." Gallagher said. "Lussiac wasn't around for long, but she left a mark, and the Mayor has enough problems without villains coming back from the dead"

"We can't keep this covered up forever." Carter said. "Lussiac is about as subtle as a brick in a window. She's going to strike again and we don't know where." And if they were going to deal with anything quietly, the only person on the team who could probably do it was in the hospital right now.

"I know" Gallagher said. "I told Hellerman that myself. But it was more of. "I'm negotiating with the Mayor's office. See if we can't get something to get out ahead of when, not if, Lussiac strikes again. We're gonna say that Lussiac was mistakenly declared dead on scene and escaped either before the autopsy. In the meantime, we're retaking some of our investigators from the Ghast case to find Lussiac. When we find her, we're sending you in first. Your new suit is going to be outfitted with a new air filtration system that should resist her chemical attacks"

Carter sighed. Ghast, one of the 3 heads of the crime families that called Hartford home, was a dangerous man. He had the smallest amount of territory, money, and men to work with, he had been recruiting a more Powered people into his "Family", and he had been expanding his territory. Bringing him down before he got even bigger had been a priority.

He sighed. He knew better than to argue. Maybe he could pull in some favors from some... associates he knew to help.

"Anything else?"

"You'll get more information in tomorrow morning's briefing. For now, when you're done, get some rest. Your patrol starts in 4 hours." With a click, Gallagher hung up. Carter sighed as he minimized the list of dossiers. He was going to have to tell his team, or what was left of it, that Lussiac was still alive.

"Shit."

I'm uploading the next post that will advance the story soon. But before then, I need to finish converting Sonya's character sheet into the new system
