[X] Say that you created an AI that wanted to meet another AI which is why you are here
The masstagging is irritating
[X] "My AI asked your AI out on a date and since I can't be more then 100 meters away from its vessel without dying I had to come along."
It is all true anyway.
Nope, the vote tally program is smart enough to ignore quoted votes.
Mostly to me it just plain is not snark. It is literally what happened. It doesn't matter if it's true. Being snarky right after we were warned that we would be shot if we were is just so unbelievely and terminally stupid that I am having an immense time comprehending why the fuck people feel the need to do so. No really why? We were outright warned that if we did that same exact shit with Weiss that she would have stabbed us in the throat. We could say the same exact thing without the snark.
How hard is it to just not freaking snark when our life is in danger?
Mostly to me it just plain is not snark. It is literally what happened.
This is not some conspiracy to steal or copy their AI, Jaune is not some evil mastermind attempting to take over the world, and most definitely not a gray goo apocalypse.
Jaune is just some kid currently way over his head. The guy already has a gun to his back and is hyper aware of any hint of power.
So we tell him the truth: Bracket asked Penny on a date. Jaune cannot function without Bracket. What is so snarky about that?
Honestly, it doesn't come off as snarky to me at all. They have the logs. They saw what happened. This is just Jaune blurting out exactly what happened because he's panicked and bad at social. It doesn't matter if it's true. Being snarky right after we were warned that we would be shot if we were is just so unbelievely and terminally stupid that I am having an immense time comprehending why the fuck people feel the need to do so. Yet these people are professionals. They are not going to take it personally because they have been trained not to.It's not an uncommon occurrence that you tell a person something slightly bad to him straight because he told you to do so and he is sensitive enough to take it personally even though he literally just told you to give it to him straight.
It's not an uncommon occurrence.
Yeah, the Transistor asking about Penny's specifications came back to screw us. Go figure. On why the gunman went straight for lethal:
Part of that crit fail is that they found the chatlogs, but only... partial chatlogs. Rather, they found the chatlogs, and only had enough time to decrypt parts of them. This would have been the case anyway, but the crit fail ensured they found out exactly what parts they needed to take Penny and the lads' constant conversation in the absolute worst way possible.
Besides, so did Weiss. It's a matter of making sure that he has control of the situation, and you can't do anything to escalate it. It's a matter of control.
I assume part of this will be used as the in-character justification for going computer shopping later this week. Why the Transistor's sensors are buggered six ways to Sunday:
What Penny's doing, whether on purpose or not, is sending out so many random signals that she's... basically acting as digital chaff. It's how the gunman got the drop on you- she's drowning out so much of the station in random static that your sword's... basically been rendered blind.
The Transistor isn't infallible, it was never meant to be, that quest would be boring as fuck, but something on Penny's level is what it takes to trip it up.
... For now.
On the state of voting:
I... can't weasel you out of this one.
Ok, first, votes actively calling his bluff are just fucking stupid, seriously, y'all should know better than that! Why would you escalate the situation, even assuming Jaune could pull off cool and composed long enough to do that convincingly? Calling his bluff only works if you can act like you don't believe it in the first place!
Anyway, aside from that, none of the other votes so far are suicidally bad, they're just risky as all hell. Even without a -3 penalty.
So far, the leading ones, which are basically the truth in snappy one-liner form and slightly more sincerely, are the least risky votes so far, for obvious reasons. But... come on, calling his bluff? Even I know that's stupid!
Yeah, trying to call the bluff was always stupid, but I wasn't thinking clearly at the time because I desperately wanted to get an option that didn't read like Jaune was mouthing off before the bandwagon became irreversible. There's a reason I changed it later.Ahem. Recording everything? Good idea, happens anyway, but good job thinking about it. Overall... I can see why the winning plans are winning- blabbering your way out of being threatened with a weapon currently has a 100% success rate for you, but that's... a lot riskier here. I'm not saying I disapprove of you gambling like that, that would be the largest stone I've ever thrown from within my palace of glass, but it still is risky.
Take the risk, don't, not my choice.
Anyway, so far "My AI asked your AI out on a date and since I can't be more than 100 meters away from its vessel without dying I had to come along." is winning, in second place is the exact same vote but less glib, and everything else is trailing so far behind those two that I don't see anything but one of those winning without a massive push. Voting closes tomorrow at 7 pm GMT. That's just under a full 24 hours to turn the votes around if you really want to.
Lying to him, if just by omission, and then threatening him by saying everything is being recorded after the GM just said Priority #1 for us is DON'T PISS HIM OFF seems... unwise.Yeah, the Transistor asking about Penny's specifications came back to screw us. Go figure.

[X] Plan: Better safe than sorry
-[X] "I'm just here because a girl was lonely and needed a friend, I haven't done anything wrong."
-[X] Warn him that everything around you is being recorded, that will hopefully keep him from doing something rash.
-[X] If all else fails, look to Penny. Blue made her sound like a good person, so she wouldn't let you get killed.
How was my second attempt, edited here after what you've pointed out? Cautious, but honest and attempting deescalation.
Aura isn't permanently active. As a different question entirely to the thread in general, why would our Aura not protect us from getting shot?
At least not in this quest, I haven't kept track of how it works in canon."Flare your Aura, reach for your sword, or speak without being asked a question, and I put a bullet through your heart."
Aura needs to be actively activated to do stuff, and doing so is rather noticable and will just get us shot before it's active enough to defend us from said shot.As a different question entirely to the thread in general, why would our Aura not protect us from getting shot?
Status Effect Gained- Threatened- you have a gun against your back, of course you are. You're not thinking straight, you're kinda hyperfocused on the gun- no penalty roll, just take a flat -3 to social until the threat is resolved.
Actually, couldn't we just avoid that risk? The -3 only applies to Jaune.Ahem. Recording everything? Good idea, happens anyway, but good job thinking about it. Overall...
