Hogwarts Sect of Witchcraft and Wizardry

It's a pity that we didn't get the 73 (or 133, depending on if the +30 to each success bonus would have been counted or not) spiritual points that the second Boon would have provided if it had won the vote, but the important thing is that we did well, won the game and got 3 sect points out of it. That's huge!

Rather than use 2 of them split, how about we pool them into a single action, even just to see how much of a better reward they give compared to a single point? If it's exponential (the QM used the words "better magnitudes" in his explanation), it might be worth saving up in the future, as well.

[X] Plan Double the Points, Quadruple the Gains?
-[X][Training] Spiritual cultivation x4
-[X][Social] Christmas is coming up soon, and you have some gifts to acquire. You might not have much in the way of funds, or shopping opportunities, but you'll figure something out.
-[X][Social] Given how often magical portraits seem to come up in your brief time at Hogwarts, perhaps you should learn more about them. A tiny part of your mind also whispers that it would be cool to bring your doodles to life.
-[X][Social] Your little end table at the hospital was filled with well-wishing cards from your friends, but one stood out from the rest. You don't think you've ever talked to Tracey Davis before. Go and thank her for the sentiment and try to find out why she cared.
-[X][Points] 2 points on the 2nd option

Focusing on Spiritual cultivation will give us a pretty much guaranteed milestone, with good chances for a second one. It's also possible to get a sect point, if we roll well and we get top score in it.

As for the social actions, as usual, there are too many interesting ones for too little time. I went with the Christmas gifts because it's not gonna present itself again (pun intended), with the magical portraits because I've been interested in it ever since the gallery update, and Tracey's card because it's polite and we learned the concept of "face" so dear to the genre, and because it promises to reveal juicy information.

-[X][Social] You've had enough time to settle in, and you still remember the girl who shared your mother's name from the sorting ceremony. Locate one Daphne Greengrass and introduce yourself.

You should specify on which social action you'd like to spend the sect point, @Edkose (Edit - Never mind, I see that the format makes it clear it's the Christmas one). And could I convince you to assign 2, instead? Same for you, @KreenWarrior (2 on the same action rather than split). It'd be useful to know how much better the rewards are compared to 1, which we've already tried and resulted in the Boon vote.

-[X][Social] The only Ravenclaw you haven't properly met yet is Sue Li, and you're determined to fix that. Track her down and gain some insight into the mystery that is Sue.

More interested in Sue Li and Tracey, but Daphne I rather wait until we get better at our skills just in case considering her family's type.

Love this story, I do hope you explain the whole worldbuilding for cultivation's coexistence with non-magical scientific society, how they over time resist cultivation's power/influence over normal people if it replaced magic around the world.
Can't help but think China suffer some massive disaster that destroy the country and scatter their cultivation groups all over the world merging or replacing local magic.

I'm all in on the art social option, it seems like it has the best synergy with the boon we got at the start of the quest.

"The greatest creations of mortals don't hold a candle to the works of immortals. You've always had a creative impulse and a certain artistic flair, often finding solutions equal parts clever and elegant. You enjoy crafting and seeing your work bring you success."

Hmm, I considered it but I feel it's best used for exploration for more opportunities, so it wouldn't fit with my current plan.

Hell, given that, if we can get a familiar, it's a major investment, I went ahead and edited to spend all 3.

I don't know if that's how it works. Unless I'm misunderstanding the system, all sect points do is guarantee a mechanical benefit. It's social rolls that, if they are high/low enough, provide narrative options.

-When we rolled 90+ for the flying lesson, we were invited to join the Quidditch team.
-When we rolled 90+ for the exploration of the castle, we discovered a painting world.
-When we rolled less than 10 for the Halloween feast, we had an encounter with a troll.
-But when we used our sect point on one of the Quidditch actions, all we got was a one-and-done boon that boosted our trainings.

I think we'd need high rolls to get a familiar or an opportunity, if I'm understanding what you mean with that. I could be wrong, though. Could you clarify, @Karf ?
Edit - Oh, this made me go and double check the social rolls and, unless I'm missing something, I noticed that we only got two of them, last turn, one for Divination and one for Quidditch. Was that right?

I assume that we got less social rolls because we could only take one social action last turn, because of the quidditch

I don't think it's guaranteed. I just think it's possible, and a shot worth taking.

From the vote to decide whether to join the team or not:
[][Quidditch] Yes
Mechanically, you will lock two social actions for November, February and May.
I read this as we'd still have 3 social actions, as any other month/turn, but we could only pick one (in last turn's case, Divination) because our remaining two would be locked for Quidditch. That would still imply two rolls, otherwise what Quidditch does is actually take away one action. I'm cool with it, if that's what it actually means. I just didn't think it was.

High rolls would certainly help, but I do try to tailor any possible rewards towards what people in the thread are interested in.

There's also a difference between a pet (Hedwig, Scabbers, Crookshanks, etc.) and a properly bound spirit (for example Zhengui from yrsillar's epic). The former is attainable and could grow to be something more over time, the latter is reserved for the care of magical creatures class, and getting one at this stage would require massive effort.

Edit - Oh, this made me go and double check the social rolls and, unless I'm missing something, I noticed that we only got two of them, last turn, one for Divination and one for Quidditch. Was that right?
Sorry, the Quidditch roll got lost somewhere in editing, it was a 36, but since most of the post is driven by the combat rolls anyways, it would have made little difference. I.e. you'll particularly shine, only for the snitch to decide the game if you roll 90+ but the enemy wins or you get a minor injury for a low roll, while your team still carries the day should the dice dictate a win.
