[X][Plan] Plan More Socials

[X][Social] The central hub of immortal activity in London is Diagon Alley. Now that you're much more knowledgeable about the world of Qi, you'd like a second look at the place. Perhaps put a number to your actual wealth and do some window shopping

[X][Social] Hermione has invited you and Dad to meet her own parents, to tell the adults comforting stories about your time at Hogwarts and set their minds at ease.

[X][Social] You've managed to bring a doodle or two off the page - literally, in some cases - but you'd like to strive for more. Find a model and really put your skills to the test, both artistically and in the realm of Qi animation.
-[X] Dad

[X][Social] You've got Dad to agree to a weekend trip to the countryside for you, visiting Mandy's clan and reservation.
[X][Social] Although the streets of London aren't exactly Hogwarts, there's still adventure to be had. Bring your new familiar on a tour of the suburbia, who knows what you might find - perhaps there's a fragment of the magical right in your backyard.
[X][Social] You'd like to visit Kew Gardens with Dad, to refresh your hazy memories of the whole family doing something together. Additionally you suspect that there may be herbology research taking place there under the noses of muggles.

Sad Kew gardens isn't getting more love. Gotta get time in with dad as much as possible since relating and connecting with him seems like it'll be more difficult as we keep growing in strength.

Edit to only be the plan name.

Apologies for doing this now, I hadn't actually thought this plan had a chance. I haven't changed what actions are done, just updated the order as per zinay's post below.
@CedeTheBees and @KarmaA you might want to just vote for the Plan name so the tally properly compiles, unless you preferred the old version for some reason?
For Arithmancy(token),Divination(token),Arithmancy(token),Divination(token) we get 81.0%/96.7% chance to reach 550/350 in Arithmancy and 63.4%/90.4% chance to reach 550/350 in Divination. The last action has a 61.1% chance to reach 115 progress for charms or a 9.3%/40.1%/70.8%/88.5%/92.1% chance to reach 5/4/3/2/1 meridians

The choice currently seems to be between a drawing our dad action and a 5th tokenless Divination that raises odds from 60.7%/89.5% to 82.5%/97.0%. I'd urge the voters for Plus Runes to consider approval voting for Beginner 2 Divination Optimized, since it's closer to it than More Socials, but I like that particular doodling social, so either plan winning is fine to me.

I think a better argument can be made for More Socials winning or Beginner 2 Divination Optimized winning, rather than them tying. You either say "votes for More Socials before the edit should count, so it wins", since at least some of them are actually not any different from KarmaA's, or you say "those votes don't count, so B2DO wins". I'd definitely say the former, because let's face it, the two versions of More Socials are basically the same, and the only point one might raise against this is that some people might not like long/apparently needlessly complicated plans.

@Karf Is this another tie or does @KarmaA's pre-edit vote still count?

Agreed, there seems to be 1 more vote for the social plan, since they are as close to identical as possible.

Also my apologies, I won't be at my PC for a while and I'm not rolling the dice on a phone. Expect slight delays.

Pool size is 7, die to roll is 23.

Elements are fire, earth, metal, water, wood in that order, respectively 1 2 3 4 5.

Every 4 consecutive sets of different elements causes another die to be rolled, as per the rainbow brush.

All actions use tokens.

Arithmancy 1 elements, arithmancy 1 pool, DC13.

Divination 1 elements, divination 1 pool, DC15.

Arithmancy 2 elements, Arithmancy 2 pool, DC13.

Divination 2 elements, divination 2 pool, DC15.

Arithmancy I -> pool: [wood 1 , water 20, earth 15, earth 18, fire 15, earth 16, water 9]

Divination I -> pool: [metal 21, metal 12, water 10, wood 17, metal 7, water 11, metal 1]

Arithmancy II -> pool: [water 13, earth 4, wood 12, fire 15, earth 8, wood 22, wood 20, wood 17]

Divination II -> pool: [fire 20, earth 18, metal 12, metal 3, fire 13, water 20, fire 20]

Same. So super high chances for Arithmancy and decently high for Divination, to reach Beginner 2.

We only got 1 die, which rolled a success, thanks to the Brush, but both Arithmancy actions have a good chance to produce 400 progress points, which would trigger Rex' main mechanical benefit, giving the following actions (the Divination ones) 1 wood pool die to roll each.

All in all, pretty good turn.

Speaking of the little bugger, @Karf , Calcification doesn't have a "I" attached to it. Is that a mistake or meant to be that way?
Meant to be. Bits with roman numerals after them get upgraded, bits without don't.

Also, on the subject of the mossball's skills, while I usually keep things close to chest in case I want to change something later (and this still very much applies), here's a heavily censored peek at his skill tree.

Including the possibility of getting 1 or 2 more die from Rex' basic benefit? That's a lot higher than I thought, either way... nice!

yeah, with 5 dice, there's something like 94% odds to trigger the benefit. each of the 10 successes also has a 5% chance to trigger the other benefit, and while 6 successes has a 77% chance to get to 550, 7 successes has something like a 98% chance. given all that, im not surprised that the odds are so high.

Secret Vows III
I very much enjoyed the scenes with our dad, most of them cute and tender. The talk about him dating someone was particularly interesting, because in the story Rei usually reads as an adult to me, but during that part, while not quite her age, she read more like a late teenager, I felt. Given the topic and the background, it made perfect sense. I also appreciated the straightforwardness that seems to be running in the family, although it might have contributed to making the scene/ending a touch too short/abrupt for my tastes.

The visit to Privet Drive was okay. My main criticism is that, to me, it felt too much like some things were happening because you were trying not to affect canon events that you want to keep (Dobby and follow-up), rather than because it made sense for them to happen. I imagine that a 90+ roll would have possibly shaken things up on that front (we got close with an 87), and I'm not complaining that there were no massive divergences, anyway... just that I felt your hand on the scale, so to speak, more than the natural unfolding of events. Secondly, I kinda wished you'd have showed Rei's actual reaction to the full discovery of Harry's living situation, because I feel like that would have been more compelling and informative, character-wise.

Beside that, I liked the jokes on Dudley and enjoyed your depiction of Vernon, not quite as annoying as he generally is, most likely explained by Rei's presence reining him in somewhat. On this note, this was the first time she's behaved kinda smarmily in a social situation, which was interesting to read (not sure yet whether good or bad), while some mischievousness had already been on display earlier on, even in this same update, during Dad-day.

So, unless it's a complete mislead, it looks like Dobby is taking away all the letters addressed to Harry, just like in canon, where he did so because he knew Lucius had plans to use Riddle's diary for him. It remains to be seen how much of that remains true in this quest, and whether it'll also lead to Ginny or someone else's possession and the release of the Basilisk. Either way, I can't wait!

Thanks for the update, @Karf !

Thank you for sharing this - knowing that Care is an interlocking Skill Tree is really important for our future picks.

I'm getting 94% odds for divination.
Out of curiosity what's our chances of getting 750 in Arithmancy? It'd be cool to effectively get to Apprentice (even if we can't use it yet) on something we effectively picked up on a whim over the holidays.

Based on the image:

-if we take Woodwind Tricks and the paths it opens, we'll eventually reveal 9 nodes out of 19 unknown ones by taking 7 milestone-equivalents.
-if we continue with the paths we're on (Natural Springy Ball II and the Calcification one that was opened by version I), we'll reveal 10 out of 19 by taking 8 milestone-equivalents.
-if we take the Water Retention paths, we can eventually uncover all nodes except 4 early ones (so 15 out of 19) by taking 12 milestone-equivalents. Those excluded could be uncovered by taking 4 additional milestone equivalents: Woodwind Tricks I and II, Natural Springy Ball II and Calcification (which reveals something that for some reason wasn't completely censored, called Soil).

Not sure how useful this info is, but here it is. Generally speaking, the more we uncover, the more informed our decisions will be and the easier we'll be able to go for a synergistic build, but of course, uncovering stuff requires taking milestones, which means we're already making a build. Also with so many moving parts and unknowns from the rest of the system, there's only so much we can do, anyway, so... *shrugs*

I would go with Natural springy ball II and Water Retention I In order to discover the first two Tier III choiches. Then go with the lowest tier 3 and Calcification in order to get the road to the first Tier 4 and 5 choiches unlocked. In order to get the last tier unlocked, we will have to get everything else unlocked, so... It's just about the order we want to follow, not about the final result.
