New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

Sun Yi [DEAD] - Good Seed Background
Name: Sun Yi
Age: 17
Species: Goatman
Status: Healthy
Current cultivation: 1st Heavenstage of Qi Gathering
Impact: 0

Description: Some say Sun Yi is the best and the worst the Goatman legacy can offer. Perfect mix between Goat and Human providing him with natural advantages over regular mortal humans. Has a human frame fully covered in fur and a goat head. Sadly he will never blend in with humans like someone that had only small horns for example being an obvious outsider everywhere and might even be considered a monster by the unknowing only in the tribe lands will he fit in physically.

Past: Sun Yi was born and raised in Sandstone Horn Tribe one of the larger tribes that had oasis potent enough to produce decent harvest of spirit plants semi regularly. His are parents humble 3rd and 4th stage QI Gathering brewers that processed some of what little excess spirit plants the tribe produced to barter with the rare caravans passing through tribe lands.

On one such occasion at the time 7-year-old Sun Yi started playing with the couple of kids that had arrived from Xin Kingdom with the trade caravan. While the kids were open-minded, the same could not be said about grown-ups. Sun Yi overheard them talking that this caravan was barely worth it and sacking the filthy goats would have been more reasonable but the bleeding hearts of Golden Devils had eliminated that as an option. Followed by excessive amounts of nasty cursing and racial slurs. That opened Sun Yi's eyes to what outsiders thought of goatmen. His people were thought to be hardly worth anything, and he hated that. He wished to change that from the bottom of his hearth but, there was little he could do back then.

After that revelation, he did his best to help his tribe in any way he could. From doing odd jobs to helping to grow the few mortal plants that could survive their harsh home. And while none of it was his passion the hard work and the rough housing of other kids that layer turned in to light sparing as he grew up helped him condition his body.

That proved useful when the tribes as a whole held a contest for mortals. Seeing that it was his last year before taking up his parents offer in learning spirit brewing and no longer being a mortal he decided to enter the competition. He did decently well and while he lost to the guy that won the whole thing he was content with his performance.

Later in the year Sandstone Horns were approached by Amber Mountain tribe elder. Apparently the winner of the tournament had died because a poisonous critter raised by blood path cultivator very early in their training and of the other top performers in the contest only Sun Yi had both the spark for cultivation and the true genuine wish to improve the standing of the tribes the Amber Mountain elder was looking for.

The Goat elder was willing to sponsor Sun Yi and pull what little strings he had to send Sun Yi to Golden devils capital for better and safer training as he had learned from his mistakes. Thought the offer only could be valid if Sun Yi was willing to test elders new experimental scripture and send progress reports to him regularly. While at first worried by the word 'experimental' his parents gave their blessings soon enough after some reassurances from the elder that the scripture is supposed to be safe only being tweaks to eliminate the last of the incompatibility in the scripture used by bulk of goat man solders.

Character concept: A youth given the opportunity to excel to eventually make things better for his people as a rising star. Hopes to prove the true worth of Goatmen to allied outsiders.

Turn 6 goal: Earn Contribution points and look for clues on simple QI spells that even Goatmen could use in theory.

Realm goal: 11th Heavenstage of Qi Gathering (going for a wizard build and pure QI is useful for that I imagine)

Big Goal: Increase the Goatman worth as vassals/allies in the eyes of Golden Devils and the rest of the factions under them.

Cool thing: Paradox of beastmen scripture - Made from studying what little scraps Goat Tribes as a whole collected over their species existence. This specialized scripture is the result of generations of hard and dangerous work to provide an alternative do to the incompatibility Goatmen had with cultivation methods designed for humans and beasts alike. Invaluable and high quality scripture for beastmen but as worthless as mundane rocks for humans and beasts same as their scriptures are less than effective to beastmen. Might still have some minor kinks to iron out, but they would be more about genetal refinement of the scripture than dealing with inherent incompatibility.

Notable things:
Paradox of beastmen scripture (Cool thing start bonus)

Omakes: None

Notes: Thank you @occipitallobe for looking it over. He shows up after trails so no rolls for now. So do I add him now and just put no rolls or somthing or wait till turn 6 tab is created?

Also sorry, just to clarify. If we make it past this turn, we're no longer affected Karmawise? So resourcewise we'll be without the debuff ?
We have 4 Maluses/Curses: Hundred-Year Trials, Impoverishment, Deadly Tribulations, Bad Karmic Luck.

Heaven expended the Bad Luck that tips the scales on rolls and events but we're still Impoverished until we grind it down with income.

[X] Staurakios Palaiologos - The stolid master of disciples. He is unwounded, but is unconscious.

On second thought, we are in dire need of new Elders to stabilize the loss we just took and the Master of Disciples serves better in that regard than simply buying more time with Kleisthenes.

I really need a disgusted or anger reaction for this. Best i can do is Informative.

I would say Bhrigu has not been an easy character to write, and getting him right has been a nightmare.

However, he's a key theme that I wanted to explore.

Xianxia typically has the 'evil young master kidnaps or tries to kidnap MC's dao partner/girlfriend/etc to rape'. This is normally treated as a sort of brief interlude where the MC gets mad, increases cultivation/performs a plot, proceeds to faceslap the young master (to death) for the presumption of trying to steal his woman and goes on his way.

But in xianxia from a non main character perspective, these young masters (of whom Bhrigu is essentially one) have to be succeeding the rest of the time. Occasionally they get cosmic justice in the form of protagonist fist, but the reason it takes what is effectively deus ex machina to stop them is because they're otherwise unstoppable! Young Bhrigu is me saying 'ok, in a xianxia world where 'kidnap and rape' is a common thing, what does that actually look like?'

And it turns out it looks like a guy who gets superpowers, kidnaps and rapes someone, this ends up with the extermination of the woman's entire family for defying him, and he keeps doing it. Just to, y'know, less politically important figures so he doesn't get his grandfather in trouble. And then he gets more superpowers, and gets to live thousands of years and do whatever he wants. In a world without a main character to kill him, he just gets away with it completely.

Which isn't a pleasant conclusion, but it's the one that makes sense when it comes to bringing that particular xianxia trope to life.

He couldn't help but feel nervous. For darkness to defeat light was the natural way of things, no? It was good, and proper.
Wouldn't wording it like "darkness to devour light" make it better here? Defeat makes it more generic, and not only is "devour" more thematic, it also fits with the next one
With a great explosion, the light consumed the darkness. Only the slightest haze remained, as though it had been flung over the horizon.
here. If the above was changed, tweaking this so that instead of describing what happened, this could instead work to be something that shows how this mortal's expectations were not only shattered, but reversed. Then a bit about an "Oh no, how could this be" moment to tie it all off, and this could be a pretty good hook towards our (probable, I'm not sure if you actually plan to make it so) need to win back the confidence of those under our immediate aegis.

Also I agree with this
We will at least have our Warmaster this turn and the Flood Dragon. We need to shoot up in strength as quickly as we can. We paid a very heavy price for the Palace, let's sink our costs.
We stockpiled enough time to probably recover from the Wound (with that Nascent Soul backup) and double down on it so that the Good Seeds that would survive gets flooded with resources.

[X] Staurakios Palaiologos - The stolid master of disciples. He is unwounded, but is unconscious.

If we actually pick Diplomacy (if you guys dont wamt to double down on our recovery), then instead of going for Defensive Diplomacy, I suggest we instead bait someone to attack us, so we can show off our Nascent Soul limited time protector. Not only would this be a good show of force, this also reminds people that even if Manuel is alone, he still has (as a bluff) powerful friends.

Oof, Manuel slowly but surely used up his treasures in order to fight Bhigru and then lost a major part of his people anyway after that speech about burning as opposed to rotting. That's gotta hurt. Like if most of the jounin got killed by Orochimaru but the Third Hokage managed to survive even after talking about how he was a pillar protecting Konoha. And the only thing the golden devils got in exchange was poor karmic luck being revoked.

That setup was so good for a proper taking you with me payoff too.

Welp.

[X] Kleisthenes Sarantapechos - Your sole remaining friend and diplomat. She has lost a foot and could be carried out.

I think the only way to survive this is to lean on our diplomacy. As mentioned, Manuel can handle the intrigue if it's really needed.

How many uses of the Ancestral Will do we have remaining? Did we only expend one for the entire scene, or is it gone entirely?

Well, at least is 1 down and 4 to go! I shall hope!

Ergh. It makes sense but i can see why most stories choose to fast-forward to the comeuppance. Really makes you feel slimely when everything goes well for them. Like i thought he knew what he was like from when he killed that 5th Sea girl, but the combination here of his strength + personality is more repulsive then i thought.

I do wonder if lobiying for a premision to settle some of worse off goat tribes in Scarred Lands would be feasable goal (as the lands are is lacking in population) if Sun Yi ever breaks trough to the Fondation Establishment as a aperently that would allready put him in the top of the Goat Man cultivation totem by the word of QM.

Granted thats long term.

We're the Golden Devils; nobody is going to want to do much diplomacy with us when we're weakened, I thought?

If we're weak, I think what we want is either the Spymaster to do intrigue stuff, or the Master of Disciples to better and more quickly raise disciples. The reason I list the Spymaster, is because "we've got Manuel, so we can have him do intrigue, right?" means using our Nascent Soul on that. When Manuel can instead be put to Lecturing, in order to even further boost any possible Juniors and Disciples, or take other Nascent Soul-level actions to help offset the sudden weakness of the Golden Devils. But if he's stuck having to do the intrigue thing, then he's not doing... well, anything else.

[ ] Nikephoros Theophylaktos - Your apprentice and spymaster. He is missing an arm and an eye, but you could carry him out, you think.
[ ] Staurakios Palaiologos - The stolid master of disciples. He is unwounded, but is unconscious.

So I figure that means we need to either pick the Spymaster or the Master of Disciples.

It... depends on how exactly the Golden Devils do "diplomacy", I suppose. For us, is it something most useful when we're weak, when we're strong, or irrespective of strength levels? Or is it a matter of who we're dealing with -- Righteous or Demonic, hated enemies or mere rivals, or what?

Do we want to project strength, do we want to turtle up to the max and try to get back up as much as possible, do we want to do intrigue or diplomacy, or what?

Well the story was about a tree that broke through to a higher stage.

And it was our Core Formation who went and broke through.

[X] Staurakios Palaiologos - The stolid master of disciples. He is unwounded, but is unconscious.

This feels like the right choice. We need our disciples levelling up steadily and surely if we are to have a hope in hell of surviving this mess.

We're the Golden Devils; nobody is going to want to do much diplomacy with us when we're weakened, I thought?
Demonic powers have extensive agreements with each other. The Heavenly Time Shatter Sect, the Noble Knowledge Sect, the Gao Clan, and the Demonic Altar Sect are all allied with each other. Alone, they would have been easily conquered by the seven righteous powers in their region.

Allying with other demonic powers (other than the Devil Bees and the Blood Cannibals) is readily possible for our clan, and could bring us numerous advantages against our local rivals and enemies.

Just last turn, we saw how an agreement between the righteous power Divine Saber Sect and the Devil Bees Sect led to an attack on our territory. The key to righteous/demonic diplomacy is for either the agreement to be secret, for the agreement to be couched in terms of submission (see the Strength Purity sect helping our allies in exchange for lessened tariffs), or to be against another demonic power (us and the Jingshen clan vs the Blood Cannibals).

If we want long-term benefits from diplomatic actions, we need to actually take diplomatic actions instead of acting in a purely reactionary manner.

Agreed. No offense to anyone, but we don't have much to trade for anymore in terms of diplomacy. What little money we've got is needed to sink into recovery, we're barely strong enough to enforce our tolls, we don't have the strength to do mercenary work or join a battle. We can't trust almost any clan to abide by whatever deal we make if we can't enforce the deal.

Basically, we have nothing to sell, so it's not worth keeping our Diplomacy friend alive if it costs our Disciple Elder. One doesn't negotiate with the weak and distrusted, and that's us right now.
