Hive Keeper (Worm/DungeonKeeper/WFTO Alt!Power)

I’ve had writers block for over a year on ch16. What solution would you all like to see?

Do you understand that there's a difference between precision and pedantry?
do you understand that when there's no explicit canon explanation, your fanonf theory is fanon?
Do you understand that just because your pet fanon theory seems reasonable to you doesn't mean that everyone agrees with it and that there are people who have other theories and will point to support in canon for them?
FAKE EDIT: Especially in this case when WoG is that your pet theory is wrong.

It's WoG that the issue was Leviathan (and occasionally the other Endbringers) wrecking ports.
That works.

my reasoning for the collapse of shipping is simple, Here Be Monsters on those old maps are now true, now who would willingly risk their life on the open seas for a few bucks when a literal Kaiju is waiting out there somewhere. and those that do get lucrative enough to become fat targets to warlords and criminals.

...now I want to see a Worm pirate AU.

Just a short update - Chapter's still coming, just ran into a slight issue, lol.

Well, two of them. The first is that I got almost zero work done yesterday because some friends invited me to a labor day party, and we spent the day playing Warhammer 40k: Kill Team. Which lasted way longer than expected, lol, basically all day. So I effectively home after and crashed instead of writing.

Second issue is from today... I've gotten about 3/4ths through finishing the chapter only to suddenly realize I'd made a major continuity error with regards to canon: That is to say, Bakuda didn't join the ABB until March 23. It is only early January, ergo she probably isn't even even in Brockton Bay yet.

That's good news for Taylor really - means she doesn't have to worry about an ABB bombing run on her dungeon/s for awhile. But also means I gotta redo the opening of this scene, lol. Bakuda doesn't feature, but I had given an ABB guy an EMP grenade thinking she might be passing a handful out.

Which... does actually beg the question why Bakuda wasn't involved in Lung's attempt on the Undersiders, actually. Or at even mentioned. Probably 'WB hadn't settled on the gang's members, yet', I'm guessing.

Which also reminds me I really need to get around to deciding what OC independents or pre-canon villains might be around, if I want to include any....after all, we know there up to ~20 others in the city that were around but never seen by Taylor.

So if anyone has a suggestion for a hilariously crap-tier Merchant cape for Taylor to bust up, now's the time ;P

Kidding. Mostly.

Anyway, goal is, chapter tomorrow for sure. I've got enough to post now, once I tweak things up, but it isn't really as long as I'd like, and I'd been aiming at ending a certain point. Buuuut I also really want to post something, to help get back in the habit, so if I have to I'll cut off early and do the aftermath separately, kinda like I did with chapter 3.

For w/e reason, I always seem to stall put on fight scenes. Dunno why....

Trasher, Mover 1, a very minor Merchant cape candidate who can use telekinesis-like-levitatation on items not higher then 40 centimeters from the ground (15 inches) with a maximum combined weight of 20 kilograms (44 pounds). So best use for this ability is to pick up those items and keep them somewhat together so he can somewhat levitate-fly on them. Problem is that a high-as-kite druggie may have issues with keeping balance and even if he can fly/levitate/move pretty fast this way, it will be very barely stable for obvious reasons.

Moist. It's got to be Moist. At his most badass, he makes people want to take a shower.

Hahaha, I was actually just mentioning this to someone in a DM, because that name is semi-canon. (Only semi, since it was actually Mush's name before he was retconned into Mush. Or maybe a typo WB missed. I forget the exact details.)

Captain Crunch. His power is to desiccate things he touches so they become crunchy. His enemy are the Moistlings, a shit tier team of water manifesting capes.

Unfortunately, Captain Crunch's power only works on dead organic material.

with international shipping in the toilet for whatever reason, that first bit is not a shit tier power. Cauldron has that poor bastard in some hole dumping food out by the ton. Probably on another planet, given the second part of his power.

Note the OP didn't say he could sing... I sing in the shower all the time, know the words and tune to maybe two hundred songs... but I still can't sing.
I read the original secondary effect to mean something a bit different than what you did apparently. I read it as if he had practiced the singular song that he was singing for years, not singing in general.

Hahaha yes. One can practice and practice and practice and still be absolutely shit if you have zero natural aptitude/ability ;P

It's like my standard response to anyone who says 'You can do anything if you just put your mind to it.'

"I'm sorry, but no matter how hard I flap my arms I am never going to fly like a bird under my own muscle power."

Yeah but that power is pretty shit when it comes to fighting, hence why I had that be his power. As for cauldron.... I'll be honest I momentarily forgot they existed as I created Farmer Cletus mainly to be a joke and nothing else mainly thinking the rest of him up as your stereotypical redneck

The reason that Bakuda didn't come after the Undersiders is threefold.
1. Under normal circumstances, Lung's MORE than enough.
2. They were trying to hide her membership.
3. She was probably busy Tinkering.

Tea Party
Stranger

Assumes the face of other people. Wears a top hat, and a raggedy cloak that holds more 'party favors' than should be possible. Actual power is that hes a case 53 that is a cloak with subspace and a master affect allowing him to take control of anyone wearing it. Tinkertech hat, it draws attention to itself.

Another (rather dark) possibility:
4: Bakuda was not there because the ABB was busy breaking her.

Remember, this is the kind of gang that has 'farms'. I would say it would also make the 'bombs in their heads' thing later on make more sense. Turning the slavery back on them and all that.

There isn't really such a thing as a power that isn't horribly lethal under the right circumstances. Look at a guy like Skidmark - he's literally an everything-railgun on legs and just doesn't really know how to leverage it.

Farmer Cletus, with the ability to grow any crop in mass amounts with ease, and to sing any country song like he's practiced for years
So, in that spirit: this guy. But instead of this, call him Growbox and make him have the power to selectively cause all kinds of plant- or fungal life to grow out of control within a certain radius. Naturally, the Merchants only use him for grow ops, but "all kinds of fungal life" technically also includes, oh, say, mold spores on your skin... or inside your lungs.

Right mixture of "so dumb" and "so horrifying if you think about it" that I think characterizes most powers.

Burnah: Tinker who thinks his speciality is flamethrowers. Pyromaniac. Hates short jokes. Asthma. Self worth issues. Loves playing Pyro in Team Fortress. Uses the same drugs he sells to others. Keeps developing new dependencies.

Actual Tinker speciality is 'impulse drives'. Could have easily made stuff like 'jetpack working at Mac 2', 'Bolter guns" and "Tactical KKV's in the kiloton range'. Or for that matter 'hyperefficient turbine power plant' with a little assistance. If he'd been sane, actually tried, and not a druggie.

...dammit, he might actually be pretty dangerous, but also such a waste it hurts.

Mouth-off: Has the ability to give temporary Brute ratings to anyone he convinces to perform an action for his cause for the duration of that action. So of course he spends 99% of his time muttering incomprehensible gibberish while stoned out of his mind.

Invisiboy Streaker

Invisible to camera optics.
Not so invisible to the Mark 1 eyeball.
Invisible to more advanced sensors too, but unfortunately his clothing is not.

Mosh

Master / shaker / trump field that gives everyone around him aggression issues and a minor brute package.
Does not grant HIMSELF a brute rating.
