Yeah, as much as I want to avoid the whole "muggle's are best magic" bit of wank I can't justify letter Harry be a maladjusted idiot. We've seen what wizard raised people are like and it ain't pretty. Also, I'm fairly certain that it gives you a speech impediment when it comes to pronouncing unfamiliar words.

I like Ron, I think he more than almost any character gets the shaft in fan fictions, lets rectify that. I also share a birthday with him.

Since I'm going with mum, it makes sense that he'd be close to his step-brother especially since that are almost exactly the same age.

Sirius is James's closest friend and he's almost the embodiment of cool uncle-dom.

I feel that both having a step more as a result of being widowed and being raised by Alice it makes more sense for him to think of her as his mom.

This is an attempt to get most of the benefits of wizarding tutors while still having full and reasonable knowledge of the muggle world. Going to school also forces socialization upon us, which could prove useful. Experimenting with magic should help reduce the penalties of not taking wizarding tutors in terms of actual casting skill, and talking with Sirius and Remus will help give us a grounding in wizard culture and history.

Harry and Neville as brothers is an interesting idea and spending a bit of time with him could be good for both of them. Remus and Albus both have good potential learning opportunities so they get my vote.

Alright, some info for y'all:

First off, just going to point out that the Muggle Elementary will involve no muggle wanking of any sort. Wizards are wizards and muggles are muggles and the statute of secrecy means it's going to stay this way for the foreseeable future. Aside from that, Harry Potter is a story of wizards and magic, and this is a Harry Potter quest so we'll be following that precedent. No Methods of Rationality here, no sir! So yeah, as a warning before it devolves even that far: any discussion in the vein of muggles vs wizards will be completely irrelevant to this quest. It will not change anything, arguing about it will only annoy others and it's just generally going to waste pages.

Think of the elementary school option as more of a way for Harry to spend time in a different culture before being completely immersed in his 'native' one.

On topic of XP: as a heads up, know that we'll award xp for good reasoning and arguments/debating as long as it's germane to the quest. You will get your first batch of this after the character generation is finished (the next update ought to be the last of childhood).

Character sheet & mechanics will be posted in the 2nd and 3rd thread post respectively, after the character generation is done. That means after the vote for next update ends, or the 3rd update is posted. As a hint I can tell you the system will use very minimal rolling; it's going to be a lot more decision driven, with mechanics there to give us a way to compare characters to decide how things go down.

And finally: voting will close in few hours max, unless there's a big swing in momentum taking place.

I never expected that muggle school would involve any muggle wank I just have no interest in it. It might make it easier for Harry to understand Muggleborn later but the wizarding focus is just more interesting. We know what normal school entails, I'm much more interested in how young wizards are educated and what connections come from that.
