[X] Call Gard, ask her if she has a sister with a sideline in kidnapping children and trying to eat retired death gods. You could use some backup even if it is gangsters
Does that require that both parties actually share their understanding and fear with humans though? What about two gods who are divorced from humanity but like unto each other?Because the main stem of the magic is a shared understanding and shared fear of death,
This is where we should call Murphy actually. He sighs and shakes his head, a few drops of the errant summer that had just passed rain flying off his shoulders. "Getting a judge to hear a request for bail before Monday is beyond all but perhaps the FBI agents themselves and even for them it would not be easy to arrange. Judges are... ornery about their free time. With the courts being as backed up as they are I can't say I blame them for all I wish they would make an exception in this case I don't think that's likely."
A reluctant smile creeps onto your face. "I would tell you to go into stand up comedy but you can't," you quip back. You wait for the clattering laugh to pass and continue. "They mentioned a person, I think it was: Capricorpus."
The laughter is gone from Bob in and instant, his eye flames dimming down to embers hiding in the deep sockets of the skull. "Oh no, no, no she is supposed to be dead, like for real dead though."
Secret Knowledge: +2 Essence."That's... odd," the spirit says slowly and for the first time since you met him it is like he is struggling to remember something which for a spirit of intellect is odd in and off itself. "The Black Feast is a form of metaphagy, soul eating basically though that is not a good translation because souls aren't meat. You do not break them up for energy but coot them for knowledge. There has to be a level of mutual understanding and an equilibrium reached between he who consumes and that which is consumed."
Lol yeah.OOC: Harry will have quite the... er... interesting reaction when he finds out what kind of magic Bob was talking to Molly about.
Nice rolls.Rolls
Persuading Bob again, would be DC 8 because you are asking you about necromancy, but Molly is both a pretty girl and an arcane curiosity, knock down 1 DC for each
On the matter of death and its curses
Easy Bob roll to figure out a piece of the prophecy
Does Bob know about the Black Feast? Yep, not enough to name its inventor or other stuff, but he could still teach it in a pinch

Alternatively, maybe the ritual being used is just being referenced metaphorically for it's similarities instead of by it's formal name.
Probably not what I should be focusing on right now, but just out of curiosity would learning this be a gateway to a converted ghost eating charm?Does Bob know about the Black Feast? Yep, not enough to name its inventor or other stuff, but he could still teach it in a pinch

-[X]If Michael gets here during phone call, ask him to call Murphy, tell her that we have video proof of Dresden's alibi and give her Forthill's phone number
At some point we should give clippy an order to constantly record what's happening around us. As long as the storage is either her memories or encrypted properly the risk is minimal, and if we need to prove we didn't commit a particular crime we can provide snippets.
We just need to make sure the perspective looks like that of a discreet body cam and we should be golden.
Some of the other people in the thread said that Clippy could somehow observe and record our surroundings without direct use of the camera. Sounds kind of off to me, but if that's the case we should be good. If it isn't then a body cam probably isn't worth the effort given our tech score and resources.Might need something other than the old Nokia brick though

-[X]If Michael gets here during phone call, ask him to call Murphy, tell her that we have video proof of Dresden's alibi and give her Forthill's phone number
We need to buy a new phone first.[X] Call Gard, ask her if she has a sister with a sideline in kidnapping children and trying to eat retired death gods. You could use some backup even if it is gangsters

This is disturbingly plausible.I'm starting to think you guys were on to something on the Lydia connection, assuming she really is related to Ankuo, but not in the way we've talked about previously.
A blood connection is nice for a lot of things, but not what she's necessarily most useful for.
A death god might not fear dying, but a parent of a mortal child very well could. Especially since the implication in canon is that the white god has dibs on mortal souls.
Meaning if his daughter passes she's separated from him forever and in the hands of the entity that knocked him off his pedestal. Even if he doesn't think harm will come to her that's still difficult to swallow if there's any bad blood at all.
That fear might be enough of a commonality to build a ritual around.
Thats part of the reason we're calling her OOC.Everyone's talking about Gard calling in gangsters to help deal with Katrina.
For a rogue(?) Valkyrie, she might very well call in Odin! If not so he can fight, to get some help. At least as a sign of how much she's POed him.
Or maybe they'll show up in a sleigh pulled by a flight of combat reindeer.Remember, Odin is Donal Vadderung of Monoc Securities and is also Kringle, Santa Claus and Winter King.
If he wants to send people here via paths through Winter, he can do it very fucking quickly.
Bob doesn't seem to notice, too engrossed in his lecture. "But there is ankou and there's the Ankou, eldest and mightiest of their kind who was once worshiped as a god by the Welsh and many of their celtic kin. Arawn he was to them, lord of Annwn and master of the dead. But the story is familiar enough I'll wager, the White God came and the old gods faded, they died or they changed. For his part Ankou was a practical sort, for a king and a god at least. Crowns do funny things the the heads that wear them you know."
You nod along. "So what did Ankou do then?"
"He swore an oath to Winter, him and all his kin, they became the keepers of the dead in Winter's service. Most of the fey are bad at fighting ghosts and spirits and the wizards to rile them up because they do not understand mortality and the secret power that can be born of it. " Bob clears his non-existent throat. "Most of the fey are weak against necromancers when matching power against power, but not the Ankou in whom still dwells the memory of Annwn."
They should not be.According to Bob it should not work, death gods are not joined by a fear of death.
