Ghosts of the Ancestors. (A Cultivation Riot Quest).

There are two ways of refining the mind in but we can only do one of them:

-[] refine his mind. 2 Blood Qi, -4 HP per time taken [0/75]. Gain wrathful mind I (increase combat dice to d12, large increase to comprehension of combat arts/skills).*

and

-[ ] Refine his mind. Cost 3 Qi per time taken [0/75]. Refined mind (+1 Intelligence. increased comprehension speed).
--[] use X Qi (Default is pure so only include this if your using another type).

The first one requires blood Qi for all actions but the second can be done with a mix of 2 special Qi + 1 pure so that difference is not that great and the fact that existing body refinement does not list the type of Qi used for it seems to indicate that we can use only pure till we get close enough to complete it and then swap to using special Qi for the action that completes it.
So the way we pick is mostly based on what do we think we need to improve more, our combat dice or our cultivation abilities?

Work hard, Play Hard. New
Work Hard, Play Hard!

Li let out a groan as his forehead impacted on the desk he was working at, his brain aching from all the studying he'd been doing in preparation for the Alchemy Hall's exam. Not helped by the fact that the shades of his ancestors, while certainly talented in many fields, were not always the best when it came to teaching their knowledge.

There was no doubt that Li had learned a lot of course, already he could tell that his alchemical skills had grown over the last month, but the arguments over the best ways to teach him were getting old.

A sound from outside his dwelling made Li tune out his ancestors (another skill he had been developing recently), and he smiled as he saw that Cai was paying him a surprise visit. "It's good to see you, what brings you to my home?"

"You're still so formal," Cai said with a tsk, "Aren't we friends? It's natural for me to see what you're up to, especially when you've been spending so much time preparing for your exam. Fen and i have barely seen you this month!"

Li gave him an unimpressed look. "I saw you both two days ago."

"That was then and this is now," Cai replied without so much as a hint of shame, "It's no good to spend all your time with your nose in a book you know, you won't have any fortunate encounters that way! And you won't meet any jade beauties either!"

"I wonder, what would Fen say if she heard you talking about jade beauties?" Li idly asked, and Cai made his face into an exaggerated look of shock, miming being stabbed as though by a trusted friend. He was only able to hold the expression for a moment longer before he started laughing, and Li joined him shortly.

"But seriously," Cai continued once their laughter ended, "Once you pass that test we should find a way to celebrate. After all, it's not every day one of us outer disciples makes something of themselves!"

Li shrugged at that, trying to hide his nervousness. "There's no guarantee that I'll actually pass you know," he managed to say, "I've heard quite a few stories about how hard the hall exams are."

To Li's surprise however, Cai shook his head. "No, you're definitely going to pass. Don't forget I've seen your pills in action. Despite how young we all are, you have some talent for Alchemy. They'd be fools not to let you in."

Despite his worries Li couldn't help but feel a warmth in his chest. Was this what it's like to have actual friends? He shook his head to clear that depressing thought. "I'll think about it," Li finally said, not putting an end to the idea of celebrating at the very least.

"That's what I like to hear!" Cai replied, giving Li a clap on his back that almost sent the weaker boy to his knees, "Don't you worry, just leave the planning to me while you focus on studying!" And with that Cai took his leave, leaving Li with only his ancestors (now engaged in a ghostly slap fight over the proper way to make an elixir of unceasing vigor) for company. Sighing, Li picked up one of his study books and got back to preparing for the coming exam…

What happens if we use multiple Qi types with the same effect for an action for example trying to break trough with Yin + Reflection Qi who both boost mental results

Reflection is a combination of mirror and light, which are respectively a combination of water+ metal+ Yin and crystal + Yin, with crystal being a combination of earth +yin.
So reflection is 3 Yin merged with 3 others.

I started going through the turn but this one would take a bit (mostly because you hade a lot options completing and a few extra things going on) but as a small preview here is what it actually means to be part of a hall.

Congratulation you have succeeded in entering the hall as a grade 4 alchemist (instead of an initiate) this mean you have gained the following benefits and duties.

We'll start with the duties.

One Guang Li action a turn must be spent on brewing pills, three fourth of the pills brewed in this action will be taken by the hall as a tax and payment for usage of the facilities and ingredients and the rest would be bought at half "market price". The hall would provide the herbs used for this action.

In times of war (when the sect itself is on war footing) all Guang Li actions would be spent on brewing pills (but he would be exempt from front line duty).

In times of inter sect conflict Guang Li would support the alchemy hall above all else (this really goes without saying but I figured it would be good to have this in writing).

In return.

Guang Li may use the advanced tools (30% ingredient cost reduction and +10 to his alchemy rolls only of brewing pills) and the advanced pill furnace (allows for mase production of pills) of the hall on his own time.

Evry turn he would attend lessons by the hall that amount to +10 progress to his alchemy skill, he may pay 10 cc to gain another +10 up to 3 times.

As a member of the hall, he gains their backing with the sect and the "shit list" pently is rescinded, he may also pay 5 cc and ask the librarian to look in the low restricted section for a technique, refinement path or pill recipe of limited specification, he must still pay the full cc price to obtain it.

Guang Li may buy common herbs at half the price from the hall and sell his pills and products at five percent above "market prices" to the hall.

Guang Li will be given a stipend of 10 cc a turn with which to help push his cultivation forward (and only his cultivation), he may retake the test once he reached QC 5 to be promoted to a grade 3 alchemist.

I think we will get 10 CC per turn out of this due:
alchemy pills made = 1D10+4(int bonus)+3(alchemy skill)+10 tool bonus
Lets say we are making pure Qi pills and roll average(5) and use the furnace:

So basically, when utilizing a pill furnace (part of advanced tools) to concoct the same instance of pill/elixir, each instance of the pill above the first gives double production value of the previous one (up to a limit decided by the tool ranks, for our case this being 4).
so that would result into 22 batches:
1+2+4*20 = 83 pills they take 75% leaving us 20 and buy them at 50% of market value = 10CC

Brewing on our own it would earn
83CC* 1.05 - 21CC(herb costs) = 66 CC

…. So basically lose one action for a passive CC income, alchemy skill, and a shitton of bonuses? As well as removing problems like the shit list and getting more access? That's a pretty good deal.

Skills are the number of dice you roll, so Guang Li brewing with the tools is actually 3d10+4+10.

assuming average rolls this means 29 batches of pills or 111 pure Qi pills, the sect would take 83 of them and buy the rest at half price (the base price of pure Qi is 1 cc) so you will gain 14 cc out of that action.

Brewing for yourself of that would bring in 116 cc but cost 21 cc for the herbs for a 95 cc profit.

So making them with a normal (not locked in) action we'd get the shopprice?
Nice.

What would getting in as initiate have gotten us?

+5%, not a lot more but it's a nice incentive to get people to put in more time for brewing pills.

You would have had to spend two actions a turn instead of one, gotten no cc, would not have been able to make use of the restricted section and would get basic tools instead of advanced.

But would get like 4 times the alchemy progress per turn.

Very happy with how that re-roll turned out.

Could we save up the stipend if we wanted to buy something like a willow drop pill (40CC for QC3)?

I imagine we could also use the stipend to buy herbs with which to brew our own cultivation-related pills and elixirs. I suspect they'd even approve.

Well apparently we will already get like 28 Pure Qi in pills from our share of required mass production? or half that in fire Qi as I assume thats also a common order?

Either would massively speed up various types of Cultivation. Like we could either move through Meridians faster or start working on our second Dantian with pure qi or move through Body Refining faster with fire Qi.

[] Brew a pill 1/2- the ghost of wisdom will direct the brewing of a pill to the exact requirements [0/20]. One of two actions needed to brew a pill.
[] brew a pill 2/2- the ghosts of Qi will give the energy and essence required for the brewing of pills. [0/20] the second action required for the brewing of pills.
Will this also brew 3d10+4+10 pills with a max of 5
And can the ghosts use the pill furnace?

Evry turn he would attend lessons by the hall that amount to +10 progress to his alchemy skill, he may pay 10 cc to gain another +10 up to 3 times.
The additional lessons seem expensive as the shop has:
[] purchase advance lessons (+10 to skill progress bar) for 3 CC.***
***advanced skills double the cost.
So its 6CC for alchemy lessons there

can we use the stipend to but lessons in Cultivation,Breakthrough and/or Refining?
