Especially if we can buddy up with our friends (in your example: Imagine we had the 10 rolled in the fire pills but only herbs for 5 pills. But then our friends decide they want fire pills too and pay us in herbs (and potentially some pocketmoney)

Also joining the alchemy hall means we can make profit off pills .
so just selling em for profit also works.
 
Honestly at this point even if you're not a qi ghost no one would blame you for throwing a die at pure qi gathering. We literally only need a little progress to get out of qi debt
 
BTW seeing as you're finally getting into the alchemy hall and you reached alchemy 3, this means I can finally bust out the mass production rules for Guang Li.

So basically, when utilizing a pill furnace (part of advanced tools) to concoct the same instance of pill/elixir, each instance of the pill above the first gives double production value of the previous one (up to a limit decided by the tool ranks, for our case this being 4).

For an example, let's say you brew fire pills. This requires 2 score on the alchemy roll per pill and lets say you rolled 10.

Normally this would mean 5 pills were brewed.

With your skill sufficient for mass production and the tools for it being available you instead brew 1+2+4+4+4 pills for a total of 15. 3 times the production value.

You still need to pay all the herb costs and can only produce pills of that one kind.

This is how the sect can basically supply everyone with pills (at such low prices) when less of a tenth of its members are dedicated alchemists.

A thought just occurred to me; have either of our friends given any indication of wanting to join a particular hall? I wouldn't be shocked if Shu Cai wanted to join either the exploration or judgment halls, but I don't think we know much about Ma Fen's interests.

Anyways, you bought both the hall test (which is 20 cc not 30 the shit list doesn't apply) and armor this turn.

Let's start with the hall test, this is a pure alchemy roll (and I'm taking his skill at the end of the turn), so 3d10+4 (int) with the following breakpoints, 10/25/50.

After that we have Guang Li refining his heart, using blood and the elixir means he rolls his cultivation skill (3) +wis (+5) and multiplies the progress by 3.

For pill brewing Guang Li rolls 2d10+4, he is to just brew calm Qi pills and maybe more fire Qi if he has some left.

For his meridian roll, he rolls 1d10+13 ( I think you filed twice more on the roll this turn) so he only needs 2 or more (although with track record watch him roll a 1).

looks like we might have just barely gotten the second breakpoint on the test. assuming that reroll replaces the 5. so that would be 25 total with the +4 from int.
 
I feel like Guang Li just used up the next ten years of luck on that nat 10 for the meridian roll.

Either that, or the ghost-ancestors are really stoked from all the ghost-cocaine they imbibed at La Su Wei Jia Su and raining blessings upon their junior.

Processing the result, Guang Li passed the second breakpoint in the test (that reroll replaces the 5), he also successfully open the next meridian and got 60 progress on refining his heart.

As for pills, Guang Li brews 3 calm Qi pills (a total of +6 to all QC breakthrough rolls) as well as 1 point of fire Qi, costing a total of 17 common herbs (leaving him with 1 after his passive gathering).
 
Man our boy is doing great! . moreover we should be able to finally breakthrough next turn with that +6 and our 6 failures, we only need 8 or above to breakthrough ourself.

Honestly that went about as well as could be hoped for. No more shit list, got into the alchemy hall, a newly opened meridian, and we finally finished our first level of blood refinement!

So for next turn since it seems likely we'll want to finish breaking through, do we want to use water or yin qi for that? Just so we're all on the same page.

Probablly yin , yang would have been good but we don't have a good source for that.
Also depends what stats we want to focus on for guang really.
 
When the Yin Qi siphon is completed, what do people think about voting to lock its production to going towards unlocking the second step? We'll want to put extra amounts in so we don't need to wait 50 turns to complete it, but we'll at least be able to chip away at the requirements.

The health req can wait until we're closer to full health and can make better healing pills.
 
Can we autofail enough to pick up two meridians in one go or if you autofail enough to reduce the Dc to zero due you just get forced to succeed?

I don't think there is a difference mathwise here , though I might be wrong
.
If the DC is cumulative and we can attempt multiple checks in one go, the total DC becomes 33 (15 + 18).

Functionally, if we fail 15 times and don't auto-complete, we need to roll 18 or higher to succeed. Even if auto-completion is possible, we would still need to roll 18 for the next chance.

Edit: Our best strategy is to increase Guang's dice through his Intelligence and Breakthrough skill, letting him hit the higher combined DCs.
