the clan used to have several rituals, festivals and forms of worship to the ancestors, which were meant to foster those connections to ensure that as many ghosts were active at a time.
Some of them you could (bloodline action -cough, cough-) but don't expect a lot out of it, many of those rituals are large sale things that would require more then a single person (and would be recognizable) and the sheer quantity of ancestors that already follow Guang Li would make most of those a lot less effective.
Does the type of Qi matter for all action taken in body refining or does only the type of Qi matter used in the final action that completes the bodyrefining?
It has all started all so well, Guang Li mused as he waited for his wounds to mend, the pill he concocted mending his broke bones under the watchful eye of one the sect doctors -making sure that it didn't set wrong).
The group -ma Fen, Shu chi and himself- arrived at the twisting forest days ahead of schedule, fate itself seeming to conspire to ensure no completion rose.
They picked their target trail – a great earth ape- almost instantly and managed to ambush it as it was sleeping and while its deep and tough skin ensured it survived long enough to flee to the tree line, they have managed to keep up the pursuit and clashed with it several times over the course of hours, coming up the winners in the exchanges and pilling more and more injuries on the spirit beast.
Their victory blinded them, they didn't notice the Ape was leading them into a trap. It led them into a small and narrow cavern convincing them that it was attempting to hide from their gaze.
It was a dead end, the only way out requiring to climb on a sheer wall of rock. A climb the great earth ape was greatly suited for. With it now above them and their only exist going back the way they came with no cover against the rocks thrown at them, they were pinned.
Ma Fen was the first to fall, a stone sharply impacting her head. it took Guang Li and Shu Cai everything they had to pull her into a small nook in the cavern wall that hid them form the ape sight and throws.
With Ma Fen greatly injured and the ape likely repositioning for an angle that could hit them, Guang Li and Shu Cai had no choice but to charge forth, out of their limited cover in a gamble that hey were fast and tough enough to survive the barrage of rocks long enough to exist the cavern and force the ape to flee.
Shu Cai took the brunt of the attacks, his refined body standing strong under the assault even if by the end of the short stint out of the cavern it was covered in a multitude of cuts and bruises.
Guang Li himself wasn't spared from the barrage, several stones impacting him, bruising his ribs and breaking his left hand.
But they managed to get out and now on the same level as the ape they charged their target.
The great earth ape could have fled and if he had they wouldn't have pursued but it too got arrogant and blind because of its success, it thought that became they were injured and down a member that it could win.
And perhaps it could have had.
The giant roll of ape fur and skin the group carried as they limped their way back to the sect showed that it very much did not.
And now the group was in the infirmary, receiving treatment to their harsher injuries.
"We got arrogant" was Guang Li first words as they were discharged.
"Yeah…" Shu Cai agreed "I think we need some time to recuperate and maybe grow some more before we try again".
The man was likely right but the pinch it would create for Guang Li wallet would hurt, maybe he can take some simpler mission alone. It's been a while since he swept the sect floors.
"I'm going to look for some refined armor, maybe also an artifact weapon" Shu Cai continued "can you look into combat pills, I know you mostly focused on advancement resources but a good combat drug could really improve our odds".
"I'll look into it" Guang Li answered "but I'm not sure how cost effective it would be and it would be missing the point if we needed to take harder mission to make up for the cost".
"That's all we can ask" it was Ma Fen who replied to his words before the group split way.

Inspecting the challenge of clear water was a simple prospect for the ancestors of the Guang, the only difficulty being the relative slowness of accessing the collective knowledge base.
Their conclusion was that it truly was a master piece, aside form being able to gather Qi all on its own -already pretty impressive for an artifact- the chalice could -when the water within it was still as the grave- impart the properties of reflection Qi on regular water Qi an impressive achievement even If the script and enchantment on the chalice that do so would dim for a full month after use.
Some further observation made the ancestors sure that the chalice actually requires some special type of water to bring out its full effectiveness and while it could substitute regular water it was not designed with that use in mind, limiting its usefulness.
What type of water it required was unknown to the collective and would require further research into who actually crafted this master piece.

Wouldn't it be better to wait to buy the armour next turn after we've entered the Alchemy hall? That way we save 5CC.
