You blink awake. Ow. Ow ow ow ow. Everything burned. Shaking your head, you seemed to be in a cell of some sort. Looking out, you immediately regretted most of your life choices.
For outside were Ork's in black armor, with clear, rectangular shields walking about. "Oi, so tha mystery git finally awakenz!" Turning, you caught sight of your cellmate. Who just so happened to be another Ork.
Bigtoof Da Traitaboy
LV 34
Ork Convict
Recoiling from both the Xeno and the message above his head, you let out a gasp of shock. What was going on?! Where were you?!
"Bet ya'z confuzzled." Continued the Ork. "T'clear up any mizgivins ya might 'av, yer in Lockdowns Peni...Peniten...penitenter... Jail. Fer a extra bit of exposition, Lockdown be the head of the Warboss's Kommandoes." The Ork shrugs. "Az this thing about taking prisoners and shoven em in here. Bit of a weirdo. The right proppa thing to do would be t' send you to the work camps." The Ork paused, a thoughtful look on his face. Or at least, what passed for a thoughtful look for a ork. "Or et ya. That's usually pretty proppa."
Right. You were in a jail created by a insane Ork. Your cellmate was a Ork convict by the name of Bigtoof. Wonderful.

You blinked. Again. No, seriously, what was going on?! Why were boxes filled with words popping up in front of you!?
FAQ: Why are boxes filled with words popping up in front of me?!
A: You have unlocked the power of the Gamer, and thus your life has become more like a video game! The blue boxes are status messages!
That....explained something. What was a gamer, however?
FAQ: What is The Gamer?
A: The Gamer is a power which enables you to live life like a video game, complete with health and mana bar, and the ability to level up through collecting enough experience points! Each level up, you get five points to distribute among your various attributes.
Another aspect of The Gamer is the ability to increase your skills at a rapid pace, or even learn new ones!
After that, another screen popped up, one with your image and a bunch of numbers.

Lore of the Warp? Why would you even have that?! Why would you need that!
You search your memories, looking for a point in the past where you had learned this 'lore'. And while you already knew about the lore itself, you couldn't recall LEARNING of the Warp!
You decide to move on. Emperors Favor was...Well, slightly overwhelming. After all, how many could say that the Emperor smiled upon them? Though you were a bit confused. What was a fate point? What was a Gold Quest?
Well, you could probably guess what a Gold Quest was. Some sort of task issued to you from the Emperor himself. Or a quest that he would approve of greatly. You ponder what a gold quest would consist of. Killing the Kommando in charge of this prison, perhaps?
NEW GOLD QUEST
Slay Lockdown, Free his human slaves
Reward: 1 Perk Point, 1000 EXP, New Title
Failure: Death.
[X] Plan BG
[X] Ask our cellmate why he is here. And if he is willing to work with us to escape.
-[X] This amazing boon from the emperor said we have been blessed with the ability to rapidly grow in skills. Lets see just how rapid it is. Start excercising. Start with pushups, then move to one handed pushups, to handstand-pushups, one handed handstand-pushup.
-[X] Observe your cell, try to see if there is anything you can make a makeshift melee weapon from.
-[X] Pray to the Emperor. Maybe he would be willing to lend a bit of protection?
-[X] Meditate to stay calm and keep your mind in order once you are fatigued.
Right, first, gather information, see if you could get the xeno to aid you. As distasteful as it may be, you would need all the help you could get to get out of this situation. "So, uh, why you here?" You asked. Briefly looking up from the tome he was reading, Bigtoof grunted. "I may 'av tried t' get the warboss killed by messin wif 'is personal vehicle. 'az you can guess, he didn't take kindly to that. Nearly krumped me. Bad luck fer me 'is Oddboy Kommando stepped in, decided it'd be a betta idea t' make a example out of me."
...
Well. Traitorboy wasn't unearned then. "Okay. Well. I for one intend to escape here, but I doubt I can do it alone. You willing to assist?" You ask bluntly. The Ork paused for a moment, then let out a bellowing laugh. "AHAHAHA! Y-you thinkz ya can escape? Ya dumb git, ain't no one escaped the prison! Not any Orks tossed in here, not any humies, not even the beaky Lockdown keeps 'as is own personal trophy!"
You'd take that as a no, then.
You decide to move on, doing some exercises. After all, the boxes had said that you could increase your abilities rapidly. You start with pushups. After about thirty minutes of this, you switch to using only one hand to raise yourself up and down. After another thirty minutes, you collapse onto your bunk, exausted.
STR has increased by 5
Thank the emperor!
You spend another ten minutes doing your best to meditate, to collect your thoughts.
Meditation LV 1(0.0%)
Calm your mind and empty your thoughts. +1% WP, +1% WIS, Mana Regen increased by 1% while meditating.
Useful. You spend a little improving that skill, before moving on again. This time, you attempt to find something to use as a makeshift weapon. Luckily for you, ork construction tends to prefer haphazard assembly. Specifically, you were able to yank one of the sharper bars off your cell door.
Gained Sharpened Bar!
Okay, you had a weapon. Now to take a moment and pray to the Emperor.
You sat down, placed your hands together, and silently praised the God Emperor, and asked him for a way out of this situation.
It was at that moment a huge explosion could be heard, rocking the prison, and your cell door swinging open. You can hear the Ork gaurds scurry off to investigate the source of the incident. You blink for a moment, then grin!
[X] Beakey? wait was that... That's what Orks call Space Marines!! One of the Emperor's Own angels of death was captured!? I have to save Him!
-[X] Quick prayer of thanks to the God Emperor for giving us the opportunity to serve him
[X] First make sure Traitorboy will not kill us then Ask if he knows where the "beaky" is being held prisoner and where the other " Humes" are. and if he can point us towards the Exit.
[X] Locate the PDF and other Humans break them out. You'll need back up to free the Space marine.
[X] Observe the surroundings in detail and try to avoid notice
....Wasn't Beaky the Ork name for Astartes?
If a Space Marine was captured, this didn't bode well. Right, you had to rescue him. You give a quick prayer of thanks to the Emperor, then face the Ork again. "You, Ork, I have questions for you. First, will you attempt to stop my escape?" You ask, blunt. The Ork snorts. "Stop ya? Har! I want out of this pit meself!" He rises, and, yanking a panel off the wall, grabs a crude club.
...Well, that was one thing then. "Good. Do you know where the other humans are? Or the space marine? And the exit?" The Ork shrugged. "No idea where the beaky is. The humies though, they'd be in all da cells around ya, ye git!"
...
Well, there was that then. "Az fer the exit, no idea. Good luck to ya." The Ork says, brushing past you and walking off.
Fat lot of good this was then. You step outside the cell. Time to get moving.
[Avoiding Orks! Rolled 95 VS 85]
You manage to avoid getting spotted, ducking and weaving. As you progress, you grimace when seeing the various locked up humans. Damn these Orks!
The worst part was, you couldn't free them. They would likely just get captured or killed. You needed to find other members of the PDF, get them out! Then you could rescue the astartes, and bring down that fetid ork leading this horde!
[??? rolled: 103]
You eventually walk into a room filled with a large number of dead orks. Blinking, you stare at the scene. A large hallway, with various metal crates and barrels stacked throughout.
"OI, GET DOWN YA BIG GALOOT!" Instinctively, you duck, and moments later, you feel the heat of a lasbeam brush past you, and a thud. Turning, you see a massive ork take a step back, and fall.
"Ye ken geddup now." You rise. Your eyes quickly see a group of heavily armed humans, behind cover and hidden out. "Right, you, you know how to shoot?" Said one, a man with a thin white mustache and large brimmed hat.
John Knock
Level 23
27th Caleondian Rough Riders
You give a brief nod, and he tosses a weapon your way. Grabbing it, you sigh in relief as your hands grasp the handle of a lasgun. "There. Now, since yer likely confused, names Knock. Me and my boys here managed to break out of our cells when the first explosion happened. We holed up here." He spat a dark substance into a large jar next to him. "Now, what's yer story, stranger?"
"Erik. Erik Reddson. I'm part of the Niflheim Planetary Defense Force. I got knocked out and locked up here." You say, ommiting certain details. Knock nods at you. "I'd say it was nice meeting you, but based on the scenery, it's everything but." He gestures to the rest of his men, all looking slightly tired and worn for wear. "Me and my men ain't in th'best of shape y'see. We've been waiting awhile t'get some backup, which at this point, I'm not entirely sure's gonna arrive."
"Well, there's always whoever caused those explosions." You say. "But yes, waiting for help isn't likely to solve anything." You clear your throat. "If it's any help, the Orks are holding a astartes captive. If we could rescue him..."
Knock blinks. "Well then. Y'know where he is?" You shake your head, and Knock sighes. "Figures." He turns to his men. "Lock and load boys, we're moving out!" He turns to you. "Yer welcome to come with, though I gotta warn ya, what we're up to is going to be dangerous. Might be safer if you hole up somewhere."
You simply state that you had better odds with them. Knock nods, and turns. With that, the group leaves, and begins their trek through the ork facility.
[Encounter Roll: 15-Uh Oh]
[Combat Roll: 77 VS 52]
You traverse the prison, doing your best to free who you can. Sadly, a lack of weapons means that Knock and his men can only free a select few for fear of weighing his men down.
Eventually, as you walk, you are suprised by a grenade clattering to the ground in front of you. Quickly, you dive out of the way, as the thing explodes. Knock and his men raise their weapons and begin firing as, a ways away, you see several Orks pop out of cover to attack, roughly twelve of them. "IT'S A AMBUSH, LADS!" Knock shouts as his gun pierces the head of a Ork. "GEDDIM BOYZ! SPECIALLY THE WEIRDBOY IN THE BACK, DA BOSS WANT HIM ALIVE!" They charge, firing their weapons haphazardly.
You raise your own weapon and begin firing. Luckily, the orks are undisciplined and lacking in the numbers that make their usual tactics effective. Soon, you cut them down.
[Loot Roll: 60]
YOU HAVE LEVELED UP! YOU HAVE LEVELED UP!
YOU HAVE ACQUIRED 3 MINES!
FAQ: WHAT ARE LEVELS?
A: LEVELS ARE ABSTRACTIONS MEANT TO REPRESENT HOW POWERFUL A INDIVIDUAL IS! FOR MOST PEOPLE, LEVELS ARE GAINED THROUGH TRAINING OR AUGMENTATIONS, HOWEVER, WITH THE GAMER POWER, YOU CAN GAIN LEVELS THROUGH ACCRUING EXP OR SPENDING FATE AT THE GREED SHOP! EVERY LEVEL YOU GET 5 POINTS TO SPEND AMONGST YOUR STATS!
Huh. Nifty. You quickly bring up your stat screen to see that those Orks have caused you to level twice, to twelve, giving you ten points to spend.
You pump up your luck, raising it from a pitiful 1 to a slightly less tiny 10. Immediately you hear a ding.
Your Loot Tier has been raised! Your loot tier is now (1)!
Your loot tier is the quality of loot you can salvage from enemies! You can raise it by increasing your luck or by holding onto special items!
Well. That was...nice? You put your remaining point into INT, reasoning that being able to think more clearly was always a boon. Indeed, you feel your thoughts speed up a little. Closing your screen, you wait for the others to begin moving again.
You walk into what appears to be a cargo bay. All along the ground are various Ork corpses, charred and burnt. At the back you can see a shuttle, with wisps of smoke rising from it. At the center of the bay is a group of white haired women in intricate powered armor.
Adepta Sororitas.
A shiver runs down your spine as you lay eyes on the brides of the emperor. You had heard tales of the Sororitas, of the Sisters of Battle, from various off worlders. Very few of those stories good.
They spot your group and raise their weapons, only for a voice to ring out. "HALT! LET ME THROUGH!" The Sisters pause, and split forth, allowing another Sister of Battle, her power armor a bright silver, to step forth. "Greetings. I am Sister Ophelia, of the Order of the Argent Shroud." She says, pronouncing her words slowly and with care. "Judging by your Garb, I assume you are of the Caleondian Rough Riders?" She says to Captain Knock, who nods.
"Nice t' meetcha sister. Always good t' see a friendly face in a place like this." He says, with a grim smile. Sister Ophelia nods.
"Likewise. We have much to discuss." She turns to the other Sororitas. "You all, guard the door lest more Orks get in, and try and repair the shuttle!" She turns back to Knock. "Now, since you're here, I believe we can discuss our next move." Knock nods, and turns to the rest of his men. "Alright, rest of you, try and look busy while me and the Sister talk shop!" With that, he walks over to Ophelia, and both of them dissapear to a dark corner of the bay for the time being.
Well. It seems like you had a moment.
What Do?
[ ] Check with the Sisters trying to repair the shuttle
[ ] Help Guard the Door
[ ] You spied a odd individual, with a robe over their armor, whom most of the guardsmen seemed to avoid
[ ] A few of the men were playing a game off to the corner. Perhaps they would let you join them?
You spied a odd fellow, off by himself, fiddling with a few cards. The fellow had a long, greasy, unkept black hair and a wild beard, a extremely unclean robe with what appeared to be some kind of mold growing on it, and sunken eyes. As you approached, the rather abhorrent smell of rotten cheese began to tickle your nose.
Upon getting within five feet, he raises his eyes to stare at you. Thank the Emperor, because you weren't sure you could endure getting any closer. "So, the little PDF we rescued has decided to pay me a visit." He says, giving a grin, which shows you the crude wooden dentures he has in place of teeth. "You must be extremely brave or supremely ignorant," He states plainly, "to come near me."
You blink, and inquire as to why he thinks that. The man lets out a short chuckle, followed by a fit of coughing. After the fit ends and he catches his breath, he adresses you again. "Think it over. If you have any intelligence in that noggin, you'll realize it right quick."
...
You discretely look over his head, and blanch at what you see.
Maximillian Boggs
LV 32
Dying Sanctionite
You were in the presence of a witch. You take a involuntary step back, then steel yourself. You wouldn't let yourself be frightened, witch or no. The psyker lets out a laugh. "Impressive! Most people, after figuring out who and what I am, tend to have their hands go straight to their weapons. Or run away." He adds. "They do that too."
Ignoring him, you ask the psyker what he's doing alone here. He shrugs, then raises his hands, full of playing cards. "Practicing. I like to amuse myself by doing little tricks, small sleights of hands." He once more gives his rancid grin. "Tell you what, since you had enough steel in you to actually approach me, I'll do you a favor, and give you some...pointers, in the art of fooling the eyes of others with tricks of the palm."
[ ] Accept his Favor? (+Relations with Boggs, Learn Skill [Sleight of Hand], Other Soldiers likely to distrust you)
[ ] Refuse(No Relation change, no new skill)
"Excellent!" The Sanctionite says. He removes another deck of cards from his robes, and hands them to you. "Now, watch closely..." He says, before demonstrating a trick.
The next ten minutes or so are spent learning the ins and outs of sleight of hand. Eventually, you power through your fear and the stench to open your mouth. "So, uh, how much do you know about the, uh, Sisters of Battle?" You ask. He shrugs.
"Most likely not more than you. I know they happen to be from the Order of the Argent Shroud, and I know that they were the first responders when the Orks invaded Niflheim." He gave a grim look. "They attempted to evacuate as many civilians as they could while attempting to hold off the greenskins long enough for the Imperial Guard to arrive. Without them, many, many people would have been slain or worse."
You both are silent for a moment. "So, uh, what's it like being...Well, you know?" You ask. He lets out a sad chuckle.
"To be a Psyker, you mean? Imagine waking up every day, wondering, 'is this the day? is this the day my powers fail when I need them to work? is this the day when they actively go against me and doom me?'" He absentmindedly shuffles his cards. "Even when I avoid using my powers, the knowledge that I am damned in the eyes of the Emperor because of my mutation ensures that any life I can live is a half-life at best."
"Of course, soon I won't have to worry about my powers or my damnation any more." He lets out a light chuckle that devolves into a rough cough. After a few moments of wheezing, he attempts to catch his breath. You open your mouth to inquire as to why he doesn't have to worry any more, only to be cut off.
"Dead Rot. A genetic disease that slowly eats away at the body until it expires." He attempts to stand up straight. "At best, I have a year to live. At worst, two. And before you ask, no, the disease isn't contagious. Just extremely slow and painful."
You pause for a moment at that. Witch or no, that sounded...rather awful.
"OKAY BOYS, I HAVE NEWS!" You heard captain Knock say as he walked out of the corner he and Sister Ophelia had been talking in. "After discussing the situation with the dear sister here, I've learned a few interesting things."
Ophelia cleared her throat. "Sisters! Listen as well, the Captain has told me a few....interesting things."
Knock nodded. "So, situation: The ship the Orks use to house this prison? It's crashed, on one of Niflheims larger moons. Currently outside these walls the greenskins are trying to keep back a void regiment from getting in. So, good news, we might be rescued soon. Bad news, this ain't over yet."
Ophelia then speaks. "The captain of this ship, Lockdown, has on his person a device that, if activated, will cause the ship to self destruct, killing everyone on it. We believe that if his forces start loosing the battle, he'll activate it. We CAN'T let that happen."
"So, we're splitting up into two groups to go hunt that sonofabitch and put him out of our misery and prevent him from blowing everyone up." Knock said. "We're going to keep in touch with the other team using Vox beads."
"Well well well." Boggs mutters darkly. "Looks like we're about to see a little action."
Knock and Ophelia quickly began splitting everyone into seperate groups. You yourself got placed in...
[X] Group A: Primarily comprised of flamer-wielding Sisters of Battle, with a few of Knocks men to act as snipers. Led by Sister Ophelia
[X] Group B: Mostly Knocks men and a few PDF, all trained in the use of Explosives. Led by Knock, of course.
THROUGH TUTORING, A NEW SKILL HAS BEEN LEARNED!
Sleight of Hand LV 10(00.0%)
Trick the eyes of others using hand tricks! Sleight of Hand actions 10% easier!
You team up with the Sisters of Battle. Next to you stands the Psyker. As expected, everyone else but you are doing their best to not be in his general vicinity, though whether from his stench driving them away or distrust due to his powers, you couldn't say.
"So it appears we are going to be teaming up." He said. "Wonderful. I'll try not to get you killed." He said.
"I, uh, well, likewise?" You say, slightly uncomfortable.
"Alright, people, we're heading north! Sisters, stick to formation! Guardsmen, you all are on fire support!" Said Ophelia from the front. She briefly glanced at you. "You, PDF, you seem to be the most comfortable around the psyker. You get to be his minder, then. If he does anything untoward, shoot him." She said, before raising her flamer. "Alright, let's move out, and remove these disgusting greenskins from this ship. FOR THE EMPEROR!"
"FOR THE EMPEROR!" The other Sisters shouted. With that, you were off.
The walk through the ship is quiet. Too quiet.
At least until you hear a roar. Suddenly the corridor is filled with a sea of greenskins, charging forward. "GEDDIM BOYZ!" The leader, a massive brute of a Ork covered in ramshackle armor, shouts.
Gutzman Backbreaka
LV 56
Ork Nob
The initial charge takes everyone off guard, but they react fast, doing their best to get into cover and avoid getting holes drilled into them by the Ork shoota's. The Sisters turn their flamers upon the Orks, filling a rancid smell through the air as the aliens are cooked.
You and the guardsmen attempt to provide long range support, firing at the ork shoota's. You even manage to down a few, though more and more fill the hall.
"SOD DIS THEN! WAAAGH!" The Nob, sick of hanging towards the back, charges, drawing his thick blade. In response, you see Ophelia draw her own weapon, a elegantly designed chainsword, and charge as well.
The fight, as it was, is brutal and short, with Ophelia simply cutting him down.
With that, the Ork resistance crumbled, and the green horde were eradicated with ease.
You walked through the numerous dead Ork bodies, doing your best to avoid touching them. Well. That had went well. But wasn't it about time to-
YOU HAVE GAINED 24.7 EXP! YOU HAVE LEVELED UP!
YOU HAVE ACQUIRED A LV 6 LASGUN!
Huh. You bring up your character screen, and sure enough, you have two lasgun's in your inventory. One, the las gun you got earlier, at level five, and the other, the one you just got, at a higher level.
Doing your best to go unnoticed, you remove the lasgun from your inventory and store the lower level lasgun. Looking the new lasgun over, you have to admit that it seems to be in fairly good shape, at least compared to the other one.
Anyways, time to spend your stat points...
[ ] Point Distribution?
After, the group continues forward, managing to avoid more Orks, until you come to a pair of massive doors. Ophelia walks up to them and examines it. "Reinforced. It'll take a bit to get through, unless anyone has any explosives." She turns back to everyone. "Anyone have any explosives so we can knock these doors down?" She asked.
...
Well, you did have those mines from earlier, but offering them would probably bring up the question of where you got them...
