Yep! You can also do something like bind a verminlord beforehand with a personal action if you wanted to call one up right away in a future duel.
Thanquol: "Verminlord Warbringer! I choose-select you!"

Good to know. We might want to spend one of Thanquol's actions making sure he has better wargear to, in case something like this happens again (which it probably will. It's Thanquol after all.)

On another note, if we chomped down on all our Warpstone (since Thanquol doesn't risk an overdose from a Small amount), would we be able to make an Ash Storm smother all three members of the Conclave in one go, have it stick for a while? If so, that'd be a good opening move to hobble them all.

I wonder if we can't Skavenify one of the Necromancers. At the very least I want to do it to the last one still alive, makes stealing their lore a lot easier.

I'm not confirming that daemon Pokemon battles will become a regular thing among aspiring grey seers when more daemons are researched, but I'm not denying it either.

You can stretch an ash storm over the whole lot of you without taking in any warpstone at all, especially since the terrain has plenty lying around already, which makes the spell easier. Chomping on all your warpstone at once would roughly double your spellpower for ... probably a single combat round given how much magic Thanquol tends to throw around.

Question what would happen to a spell caster if we threw powdered warpstone in their face?
Depends on their discipline and if they're in the middle of casting a spell or not. Junior human wizards might get disrupted, advanced ones less likely. These guys probably wouldn't be affected seeing as they don't need eyes to see or to breathe.

Would any use of Ash Storm with us in the vicinity affect us?
It'd impair your vision, but none of the hex effects.

For hero units turning them into skaven is a thing that has to have them captured beforehand, since it takes more time and concentration to turn them than it does for mooks.

How many spells can Thanquol cast in a single combat round? And does using Warpstone reduce the enemy's ability to dispell whatever we're casting?

Also, do we have any idea on the broad capabilities of the Conclave of the Undying King besides that they're good with Necromancy and Death Magic?

I hate saying it varies, but it varies on what kind of spells they are. Blasty type stuff is generally quicker to cast than things like summoning entities or whatnot, and it's harder to cast if you're also fighting/running from being skewered or what have you. He can cast magic missile-type stuff like fireballs or what have you quick enough that it can basically be treated like a standard action.
...
I'll say in a scenario like this he could probably cast Ash Storm or something like it which has a mediumish charge time around two or three times depending on how much the necromancers get up in his grill. Does that help?

Yeah, it's basically an overclock-like ability, so using it increases the potency of whatver spells it's boosting enough that they're pretty hard to interrupt.

Could Thanquol charge up an Ash Storm while throwing around a few Warp Lightnings (a very, very familiar and mastered spell empowered by his staff)?

Ok.

@Chimeraguard
We can't afford to be immediately ganged up on, so I say propose Boneripper charge one of them while Flinging Warplightning at him and dispelling the enemy spells if they're malignant towards us (magic missile, hexes, etc) and charging up an Ash Storm, to be overpowered with the Warpstone. Then, we turn on the rest and empower and manipulate Boneripper's Warpfire with the Lore of Azgorh for greater power and burniness, while our foes are hindered and hexed and flammable. It should be a lot harder to do something like dispel under the Ash Storm and when the fire isn't magically generated.

Or just let him fire the Warpfire while we throw Burning Wrath at them.

The Lore Attribute of the Lore of Hashut is Killing Fire. Magic missiles and direct damage spells from the Lore gain +D3 to their casting rolls when they target a Flammable enemy. Obviously this rule is highly situational - there are not all that many Flammable units in the game. However, should you have the good fortune to be fighting Treemen and Treekin, this rule will be very handy.

Works for me. Though I'd prefer throwing Burning Wrath over buffing up Boneripper's Warpfire Throwers while Thanquol's on a Warpstone high.

Either works for me...I mean, do you think it'll last that long? I suppose it might, given Thanquol is a connoisseur of Warpstone and gets more out of it than his weaker-lesser former rival-meats.

A warpstone use will generally last one combat round of average magic use. If you go crazy with the spamming or emphasize that you really want to buff one particular spell, it might be used up partway through the round, but that's mostly edge cases. You can also sustain the high over multiple rounds by specifying that you want to conserve the power, but that's difficult to do if you consume an amount below moderate.

[] Direct Boneripper to charge one of them while flinging Warplightning at said Necromancer and dispelling the enemy spells if they're malignant towards us (magic missile, hexes, etc).
-[] At the same time, charge up an Ash Storm, to be overpowered with the Warpstone (it and any other spells used afterwards)-it must hit all of them (left) so run around as necessary to get them in position for the spell and following burniness.
-[] When the Ash Storm is delivered, turn on the rest with Boneripper's Warpfire and your own Burning Wrath for greater power and burniness, while our foes are hindered and hexed and flammable.
-[] If they manage to gang up on you in melee, use the Cloud of Corruption to punish them for crowding so close to your august person.

How is this?

While this is an excellent plan, and most likely what I will end up voting for, my preference would be to use an Ash Cloud before bolting with an overpowered Skitterleap, leaving Boneripper behind to blast them and stall within the cloud. The only things stopping me from making that plan is the surety that they can sense life and if they didn't dispel the Skitterleap, would immediately give chase.

As powerful as Thanquol is, and though I have confidence he can win this fight, I don't want to chance it. He is a giant glass cannon. He's nearing absurd levels of magic mojo, but we've never invested anything in making him (or other hero Skaven) personally stronger or tougher.

@Xantalos how squishy is Thanquol?

Base skaven level physicality, so pretty squishy. His Amulet of Ruin provides a passive resistance against magic and has a 1/10 shot of blocking a killshot, and Boneripper will somehow contrive to get killed in Thanquol's stead if he's still alive when someone attacks Thanquol, so it's not like it's 'get hit once and you're dead' but glass cannon is a pretty accurate assessment of Thanquol's capabilities. He can rival fifth gen slann at the high end of his warpstone usage, but damned if he can't take much of a beating.

He is fairly good at dodging thanks to long practice, however.

Edit: Hmm, know what, 10% is a little too weak for what the Amulet's supposed to be. I've bumped it up to a 1 in 3 chance to activate.

Damn, son. That's so squishy. Even with the amulet that's crazy levels of squish for a legendary lord. I might have to actually make a plan for running away.

Another question then: is Boneripper insta-gibbed when he dives in front of the one hit that's needed to be fatal, or does it need to be fatal enough to kill Boneripper before it kills Thanquol? Essentially, if a sword stab gets through the Amulet, is he going to instantly die saving us from it, or does he need to be whittled down by weak attacks (that would be fatal to Thanquol) before falling?

How good we talking? Fairly good by human standards? Elves? Legendary Lords?

Depends on the attack - if it were enough to kill him then he'd die, but otherwise he'd just be damaged. So yeah, he needs to be whittled down. This happened pretty much never in Gotrek and Felix because ... well, Gotrek is Gotrek and from what I remember pretty consistently mulched Boneripper in one or two hits whenever they fought, but I figure it makes sense to have it happen this way.

He basically has pseudo-spider sense, though not to the point where it's explicitly a supernatural thing. So not so much 'duck and weave around attacks in melee', but it's pretty much impossible to catch him off guard since his finely honed paranoia will kick in at the last second. So, low to mid LL level in anticipating attacks and knowing where not to be, he's just not a ninja so he can't take full advantage of that.

Yeah, I don't think it would be efficient to separate Thanquol from his powerful mount for close combat. And he's faster at moving around absent magic too.
