OK, we definitely need something in white and gold.

Maybe something sentient, as those seem to be pretty damn powerful. Also, it'd be cool if we could talk to our power and get tips on using it properly.

Sooo.....white or gold or black are the colors I like best. Is preferential voting allowed, @Alivaril?

Orange and blue are also colors we should keep in mind.

[X] You want to keep experimenting.

We must SCIENCE!

Edit: We got to sciencing quicker than I could respond.

Either this or "Victory," "Growth," or "Necessity." Assuming such concepts are allowed.

I don't understand the question. If you mean "am I allowed to try to go for a power which I would like the most": Yes, that's the point.

...Are you trying to bring GLORIOUS SOLAR BULLSHIT into this quest? :p Not saying a power like that doesn't exist, just curious.

Preferential voting is a different voting system. Basically, each voter can order a number of different votes, and, uh, I'll just link CGP Grey or something.

There are some vote tallies that allow preferential voting. Not sure which ones.

[X] Assimilation
-[X] White
--[X] Gold
-[X] Sentient

this way when we defeat a person we can assimilate their powers.

=>Attempt to filter "Powers that alter the bearer's personality" (immediately/persistently/forcibly, as a consequence of the functioning of the power; obviously having powers of any type is going to change you over time and that's not predictable or likely to be filterable)
==>"...except where compensated for by other powers in the same cluster."
==>Mark them with a red X.
=>Attempt to filter "Powers that impede the bearer's cognitive or perceptual abilities" (again, directly by screwing with your brain/senses; don't filter a power that makes walls just because it doesn't let you perceive through walls)
==>"...except where compensated for by other powers in the same cluster."
==>Mark them with a blue or green X.

=>Attempt to filter "Sentient powers"
==>Attempt to filter "Sentient powers that can communicate intelligibly with a human bearer immediately on or soon after acquisition."
==>Attempt to filter "Sentient powers that can independently (use | modify the usage of | prevent use of | hinder use of | alter side effects of using) the power."
==>Attempt to filter "Sentient powers that are capable of (influencing the bearer other than by communicating with them | ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL of the bearer)."
==>Attempt to filter "Sentient powers with personalities Progenitor finds particularly amusing/interesting."
==>Attempt to filter "Power clusters with >1 sentient power" (oh god shard drama...)
==>Devise some kind of marking system for all of these, possibly involving colored asterisks.

===>If successful, maintain these filters through all future steps.

==>Compare the "Emissary" and "Aberration" clusters that appeared when searching for powers with secondary and tertiary powers to the "Emissary" and "Aberration" powers and/or power-clusters that appeared when searching for powers of parents.
===>Subtle differences in the central power, if any
===>Differences in the associated secondary and/or tertiary powers
====>If found, search for "All powers designated as 'Emissary' or 'Aberration' and/or power clusters centered on 'Emissary' and/or 'Aberration'" and compare available sub-power sets.

===>Search for "The three powers with the greatest number of discrete power-clusters centered on them" and then for "The power-clusters centered on those three powers"
===>Search for "The three powers most commonly found as a secondary power" and then for "The power-clusters including those power(s), ordered horizontally by color and vertically by strength of the central power, highlighting any clusters that include two or three of the most common secondary powers"

===>Search for "The power cluster with the highest additive strength of the central power and its sub-power(s)" and "The power cluster with the highest multiplicative strength of the central power and its sub-power(s)"
===>Search for "The top and bottom five power clusters by ratio of the strength of the central power to the strength of the strongest sub-power"
===>As previously, but comparing the central power to the additive total of the subpower(s), if more than one are present.

No need. You're not picking a power right now, you're voting for additional powers to observe in detail / find out if they exist. You can search for up to three at once right now, just make sure they're all listed within the same post. (separate blocks, though)

You'll do a confirmation vote for one of the three if you like it, or you can discard them all and search for another three after that.

My apologies if I'm incomprehensible. Hyperactive kitten is playing merry hell with my sleep.

Why wouldn't I be? :3 that wasn't a "no."

Just you wait, Alivaril. I'll make this a catgirl!quest within ten chapters.

Attempting to betray your mentor, I see. Truly, you are much like your predecessor. Thank goodness I never did promise not to toss you into lava.

So, I'm really proud of being the one to cause the BSOD.

So, do sentient powers seem to be stronger, or what? Or do they help us to use them? I'm not sure what effect a sentient power will actually have.

Also:

This one could be fun:
