[x] Help Upgrade remember to add the Overdrive Suite to the costumes.

\(;¬_¬)

Partner-Evelyn is just going to be hovering now that you made a mistake, isn't she? You aren't going to forget! And anyway, even if you do, it's not as if it's something urgent. Plenty of small upgraded items could be used as Overdrive fuel.

Upgrade, it isn't nice for you to take your bad mood out on other people.

<W<

. . .

w.w

<(^o^<)

Apology accepted.

You spend the next arbitrary unit of time assembling a jetpack that's missing the jetpack part. Sibling-Skye doesn't object when you hook it up to Evelyn's bodysuit—

Et tu, Upgrade?

—The armor she'd made. You poke one section of the not-jetpack and consider your options.

. . .

( ◣д◢)

An infuriating number of entries on Partner-Evelyn's wish list would be vetoed by your siblings. Since Overdrive is one of your Nodes, Partner-Evelyn should be allowed to have a super-mode! That's the whole point of the Overdrive Node!

The new verdict won't do anything about most nerfs to possible exploits, but at least you got proper permission for some useful Overdrive-only toys: Extra strength, speed, dexterity, and improved object tracking, with bonus anti-observation and triple-jumping. More importantly, you're going to put in something to make sure Partner-Evelyn is just a teensie bit out of phase so it's easier for her to tear holes in reality properly play with the universe. It'll work even better if she uses other toys to weaken it first~

[Concept/Upgrade/New_Bookmark_Chain/Overdrive_Suite_2]

Not quite what I was going for, but okay, that works too.

[x] Make the changeling garments able to change their shape more often than once a day so we can use them for multiple identities even if we have to change them on the fly.

-[x] Add a "default mode" that they can change from freely so we can have them available at all times. Transforming into our superhero selves in the space of a cut to a different camera is traditional.

You don't see much point in upgrading the old changeling garments when the new costumes will have the same functionality, but you'll happily let their armor do it more than once per day. Although, what's the point in having only one default mode? It'll save on energy and character conservation if you just let them have a bunch of preset slots they could use.

[Concept/Upgrade/New_Bookmark/Chameleon_Armor]

[x] Add a bit so our hair is always perfect. However we define "perfect", at least.

It would be easiest for you to target Partner-Evelyn's mask, but that logic is enough to make it boring for yourself and everyone else. You think you have a variant Proxy-Progenitor and your siblings will find amusing, so...

Earpieces are supposed to sit comfortably in human ears. Human ears have hair and earpieces can squish that hair, making it imperfect. Imperfect hair causes discomfort. Therefore, a truly comfortable earpiece should make sure the hair of its wearer is perfect.

[Concept/Upgrade/New_Bookmark/Ear_Hairpiece]

That's a little gross, but whatever works?

[x] Make it so the clothes can glow really bright so we can do better Tron lines.

You try running [Expression/Sound/Cute/Happiness/Giggle] and fail to produce even the slightest sound. You don't understand what you're doing wrong.

ƪ(•̃͡•̃͡ ƪ

┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌

Flashes and harmful lasers born from innocuous light manipulation are some of the oldest and most overused tricks out there. You'll compromise with an idea you've only ever gotten to use in simulations: costumes that will charge when powers are used nearby, steadily raising the cap for how much light the costumes could produce until a burst is released.

[Concept/Upgrade/Bookmark/FakeRealSiphonLight]

[x] Make it so the clothes can emit/change appearance in other EM spectra so we look cool to robots and people with heat vision too.

As much as you like the justification, there's pretty much no way other Beyond would accept it. Toys of that tier are reserved for—

(O.O)!

[Concept/Upgrade/PeerReview1000/NoNerfPloits/Begin]
Part of Other-Hunger is Beyond, and since offspring of a Beyond will obviously be Beyond themselves, that makes your siblings Beyond. Beyond aren't allowed to set criteria for their own partners until they've decided on at least one Node; Partner-Evelyn picked a partner, so she obviously has at least one Node. Your new siblings are constantly assimilating everything their father is feeding them, but assimilation is a trick reserved for Absorb and similarly dedicated Concepts. Therefore, your siblings should be allowed any tricks reserved for Absorb Nodes.

You still don't think combat invisibility is any fun, but now you can totally get away with near-perfect noncombat stealth. Bumping into people shouldn't be enough to break it, but maybe it should cause just a tiny shimmer for a moment if they do? And, of course, not letting your siblings use it while they're actively fighting people. You like that compromise. Apart from that, you're pretty sure you can get away with hiding them from everything.

[Concept/Archive/ReviewRecent]

You should also give them the stutter drive, permanent shimmering and/or starring, and of course, upgrading the primary point of them having armor in the first place: protection.

[x] Wall-walking.

[x] Built-in grappling hook type things, possibly integrated with the wall-walking.

[x] Ablative armor scales, for use with Repair.

And all those ideas sound nice, too. The ablative armor scales would be closer to layered forceshields than actual armor, but you don't think Partner-Evelyn or her siblings will complain.

You're around the threshold where you could hand back control to Partner-Evelyn, but... maybe you can try just a teensie little exploit? If she's allowed Absorb-only perks now, and one of those perks happens to be access to power thievery, couldn't you siphon even more power from Capacitor? He wouldn't be at all happy about it, but if you can get it past your cousins, what he wants doesn't really matter.

[] Stay silent and see if she can get away with it. If she doesn't, you honestly think a little failure might be healthy for her.

[] Kindly tell Upgrade to stop pushing her luck and to please hand back control.
-[] She's also being unnecessarily mean to Capacitor. Resisting her or having a different opinion is no reason for her to bully him.

[] Write-in

Ahaha, Upgrade is such an adorable little munchkin. Her ruleslawyering is fantastic.

Let's not make Capacitor's (and, by proxy, its host's) day any worse than we already have.

Temporary Threadmark: Limits
Ah, dammit, I knew I was forgetting something: Upgrade's likes. Hullnuts. Chronological order will be a little iffy this way, but you'll still get that information IC in the gap between running OOE and the overall construction time limit ending.

In related news, when Upgrade says something is "exclusively" for a given Node, you're getting the feeling that isn't 100% true. It is, however, prohibitively expensive, which Upgrade seems to consider the same thing. The big example seemed to be extradimensional/spacial (hammerspace) storage, which was extremely expensive yet undeniably useful. You're guessing it was made that way so that if someone pursued something "overpowered," they wouldn't have easy access to lesser tricks; they'd still be able to get the annoying ability that everyone hates, but in return, they wouldn't have nearly as many "fair" abilities to back it up.

In other words, it would appear the Beyond are as bad as any MOBA player when it comes to complaining about game balance.

Best!Sister continues to be best sister. Though at this point, I'm wondering how Upgrade is an Upgrade, and not a Cheating. Though I pretty much every Beyond that would go for that concept is going to front something else, people can be so prejudiced after all. Either way, I doubt most Upgrades go for Insane Troll Logic anywhere near as much as Best!Sister.

That One Upgrade reminds me of those clickbait article headlines. Which is fitting, because that's totally something she would do.

Seems like the better option. No need to be a dick and burn bridges.

Yep, while we're having fun, we also need to be the adult in the room. It's unfortunate, but in some ways were playing teen parent.

So Beyond have a polling system, a fee for immediately getting results, and rewards if you get high results- which include a refund.

The question that rises is what are they paying with?

That bully comment might strike deeper than any failure she'd hopefully have with Capacitor.

I still have trouble figuring out what she thinks is interesting and what's boring to do. I mean the general rules, challenging without being frustrating, are there, but I don't get what falls into that category for her.

And she's really a precocious five year old in a candy shop. This... I don't know what to do with her. Lonely and hurt, but not getting a lot of why she was pushed away. Or she does and can't figure out how she's supposed to act anyway.

I don't see why not let her try. The more power to us, the better.
I thought on it and I feel like the main problem is we're the closest thing the five-year-old-Upgrade has ever had to a parental figure, and even then we're closer to an older sister/cousin.

From that point of view what's the most responsible action for us to take for both her and ourself?

Then we get into the different social structures between what we think like (humans) and what they all are. I mean humans are kind of hilariously social, we looked at an apex predator and went "I'mma pet that." Never mind that it worked and we got dogs eventually, they were nearly as aggressively social as humans so it worked, and it seems like these Powers/Shards/Beyond/whatever are all fairly social at least, but structured and interact differently than we do.

That's mostly just a complication on the primary question already asked though, what's the most responsible action for us, the closest thing to a parental figure Upgrade has likely ever interacted with, to do?

Her getting burned may help her at some point yes, but she's already been burned a lot. She might act like she does now because she's been hurt so much she's just numb to it and has convinced herself she doesn't care.

On the other hand she's young enough that I can't tell if any lessons would have stuck or if they even might stick now and if she's that young she should have someone protecting her, but she moved into a social circle well ahead of when she should have and screwed herself over, so...

tl;dr: It's fucking complicated.

I think, we should let Upgrade get us into trouble. I feel like that's the only way to make her care about consequences of her actions.

[x] Stay silent and see if she can get away with it. If she doesn't, you honestly think a little failure might be healthy for her.
