I don't see why not let her try. The more power to us, the better.
I thought on it and I feel like the main problem is we're the closest thing the five-year-old-Upgrade has ever had to a parental figure, and even then we're closer to an older sister/cousin.
From that point of view what's the most responsible action for us to take for both her and ourself?
Then we get into the different social structures between what we think like (humans) and what they all are. I mean humans are kind of hilariously social, we looked at an apex predator and went "I'mma pet that." Never mind that it worked and we got dogs eventually, they were nearly as aggressively social as humans so it worked, and it
seems like these Powers/Shards/Beyond/whatever are all fairly social at least, but structured and interact differently than we do.
That's mostly just a complication on the primary question already asked though, what's the most responsible action for us, the closest thing to a parental figure Upgrade has likely ever interacted with, to do?
Her getting burned may help her at some point yes, but she's already been burned
a lot. She might act like she does now because she's been hurt so much she's just numb to it and has convinced herself she doesn't care.
On the other hand she's young enough that I can't tell if any lessons would have stuck or if they even might stick now and if she's that young she should have someone protecting her, but she moved into a social circle well ahead of when she should have and screwed herself over, so...
tl;dr: It's fucking complicated.
