[X] Casual lunch.
- [X] Relax afterward.

"Well, I can add that to the list of things to ask about, so don't worry," you say. Sella steps back from Ilya and you dart in to sweep her into your arms and floating above the bed. "What is for lunch, anyway?" You glance at Sella but it's Ilya who titters at you.

"You'll just have to wait to find out, won't you?" Sella bows and you mock-scowl at Ilya, making her giggle.

"I suppose I can do that." You dance a couple turns over the bed before turning back to the maids. "Or are we heading down right now?" Ilya laughs again.

"It is that time, yes," Sella says, bowing again, and you sigh dramatically. She frowns at you as she comes up, but you grin and wink and her expression falls into one of confusion. Regardless, she follows behind you as you carry Ilya toward the door, slowing slightly to ensure that Leysritt can open it for you. You fly sedately down the hall, spinning from wall to wall occasionally. A gentle dance, without any solid pattern or scheme. Ilya hums softly, almost inaudibly, until you reach the dining room. You help Ilya settle in, and Sella watches Leysritt sit before hurrying into the kitchen.

"You two look happy," Tohsaka says from across the table. You stare suspiciously at the half-eaten roll in her hands, and Ilya titters and wags her finger. Tohsaka simply shrugs and continues eating. You giggle.

"Well, it's good to be happy, isn't it? Why would someone rather be not happy than happy?" She shrugs again.

"I wasn't complaining, Flandre, merely observing." She grins as you pout at her. Ilya sighs and you regain your composure, haughtily ignoring Tohsaka's triumphant chuckle and trying to figure out what lunch will be. You smell … cheeses, and vegetables. Bread, of course. But nothing that suggests a main dish, unless Sella is readying it right now; on the other hand, you and Tohsaka have been feeding her rather rich food that she doesn't seem to be used to, so something a little plainer and lighter is probably good for her. It certainly won't hurt.

Sella brings in two more trays, and after uncovering everything she sits down. The meal is rather vegetarian - hardboiled eggs, potato and vegetable salads, cheeses, and bread - but delicious nonetheless. You ask Tohsaka if she knows much about plants, intending to talk about the flora of the Einzbern lands, but she pleads ignorance, and you end up chatting mostly with Sella and Ilya as she refuses to allow herself to be drawn in, merely listening to your discussion.

After lunch the five of you take a stroll through the courtyard garden. Sella takes the opportunity to look over the plants again for any areas that need work, and she seems to relax. You can't help but wonder how well she and Meiling would - will - get along. After letting Ilya smell the flowers you look out at the grass.

"Mm. Too bad there isn't any snow." Ilya looks up at you curiously.

"What would you do if there was snow?" You grin at Tohsaka and shake your wings musically.

"Why, I'd make a snow angel, of course! And so could you and Ilya."

"I wouldn't be able to make one," says Ilya sadly, and you gently tap her nose in reproach.

"It would just be a one-winged angel, is all." You shrug. "It wouldn't be that strange - strange would be what angels are actually supposed to look like, not the stylized image that people have been making for however-long-it's-been. Not that I blame them a whole lot, but people really should know what these things are supposed to look like." Tohsaka chuckles and shakes her head.

"Well, I guess it's a good thing there isn't any snow, because I'm not sure I know how to make a snow angel." She ignores your and Ilya's shocked stares. "Since there isn't any snow, what did you want us out here for?" You shake your head, clearing your expression, and grin at her.

"Ilya, is there a piano somewhere?" She blinks and frowns in thought.

"Ballroom." Ilya looks up at Leysritt and nods in agreement.

"Can Berserker dance?" Ilya and Tohsaka both stare at you gape-mouthed. Even Sella stops what she's doing and stares at you. "No, huh? Hmm … then I guess our team will have to be … Sella and me, I suppose. If I paired with you, Ilya, it would be too unfair." You squeeze her gently and giggle at the confused mix of emotions on her face. Tohsaka shakes her head in confusion.

"Dance? Team? What -?" You chuckle and set Ilya in Leysritt's arms before helping her sit down. Then you advance on Tohsaka.

"It's quite simple. In order to relax, we're going to have a little dancing competition. You and Archer are going to be one team. The other - hm, too bad it's too early for Satsuki to be up, she's make a good partner, too - will be myself and Sella. Ilya will be the judge." Tohsaka's face flushes and she shakes her head.

"What? No, I can't dance! And neither can Archer!"

"Can you fight? Do you know any martial arts?" She frowns, confused.

"Uh, yeah. Modern mages -"

"Then you can learn how to dance," you interrupt, pulling her into the middle of the courtyard as Ilya watches bemusedly. "Let's see … I lead, you follow, okay?" You pull her down and set her arms around you, but you only get a few steps in before she pulls away from you.

"No, no, I'm not going to do this!" You sigh.

"Fine, fine. Archer!" The Servant appears after a moment and stands in front of you. You grab him and pull him to his Master, surprising both of them. Tohsaka's face reddens, then pales as you put Archer's hands where they're supposed to be. "Oh, don't be mad, Tohsaka. Just pretend he's Emiya and everything'll be fine." Archer chokes out a cough and stares at you and Tohsaka's face goes brilliantly red, but she lets you manipulate her without resisting. But you're forgetting … "Sella! Do you know how to dance?" The Master and Servant stand together as they should as Sella frowns uncertainly.

"I do not, Lady Flandre."

"Then you should stay and watch, at least." Sella frowns unhappily at Ilya's command but moves to where she can see what's going on. Ilya gives you a discreet thumb up and smiles; you nod and turn back to Archer and Tohsaka.

What do you do?

[ ] Leave to visit the Grail as soon as possible.

[ ] Leave to visit the Grail later.
- [ ] Hold the dance competition before leaving.
- [ ] Further planning. (Specifics?)

[ ] Other?

DM Note: Flan will continue teaching dancing in the next update; I'm just slightly off-kilter and this is a reasonable stopping point. Before leaving, Flan will get the Jewel Sword instructions from Rin and hold a last-minute round of discussion, but the current plan is roughly: Try to talk, be threatening, but make it clear that a non-violent solution is currently preferable to the involved parties.

Return of the Kobolds
[X] Leave to visit the Grail later.
-[X] Hold the dance competition before leaving.

"Alright, Archer is going to be the leader, and don't argue Tohsaka. The basic steps are going to involve you dancing inside a square, so -," you pause to chivvy their legs into proper position, "- Archer, you're going to take a step forward with your left foot, and Tohsaka, you're going to step back with your right. Don't anticipate, Tohsaka. Now you're going to step to the right - yes, good. Now step back again, right foot first, and then step to the left." You sigh and shake your head. They're both terrible, but at least Archer isn't being frustratingly clumsy and awkward. You glance up at the sun - not too hot and bright, but it's still a few hours until evening - and send out your clones. "Alright, they'll move slowly, so watch them make a few passes and join in when you think you're ready." Archer glances at you before turning his attention to the dancing pair, and you set the third clone to watch their dance when they start. You turn to Sella and motion for her to come closer.

"Lady Flandre, um -" You pull her into position and reach up to put your hand on her side, as you're much too short compared to her to put your hand where it should be. You grin at her.

"Of course I'm leading, Sella. You were paying attention, right?" She nods hesitantly. "Good. Now, look at my face, don't pay attention to them. Starting with your right foot, one two three, one two three …." You make several passes before Sella stumbles. You catch her and wait for her to regain her balance.

"You … your height makes it difficult," she says, and you nod, grinning.

"Yep! There's only so much I can do, though, so you're going to need to take smaller steps. Don't worry about how fast you move, so long as you move consistently, but I can't adjust to longer steps without throwing off the timing. Just think of it as a handicap so we don't beat them automatically," you say, winking at Tohsaka when she growls at you.

"Rin," Archer says, bringing her focus back to him, and she snaps back to him. You watch them for a moment; Archer is remarkably good at keeping her from disrupting their coordination, and if it weren't for all the little mistakes and his obvious lack of knowledge, you'd suspect he's done this before. It seems instead that he's simply very good at picking things up and using that information. Something to keep in mind.

"Hey, Flan? The different height matters, right? What would you have done if Berserker could have danced with you?" You turn to Ilya and tap your lips, smiling.

"Well … if possible, I'd have tried to dance normally with him, compensating for the size disparity. If that's not possible, I suppose I could have worked something out." Your free clone moves away from watching Archer and Tohsaka and you hop onto her shoulders. Of course, that makes the difference between you and Sella closer to the difference between here and Berserker, so you hop back down when Ilya shakes her head. Sella frowns at you as you take her hands again. "It's really not that bad," you tell her. "Just make smooth movements and follow my lead. Keep your feet under you and relax." Her frown doesn't change and you sigh. "And smile, or I'll have one of my clones ride piggy-back, holding your cheeks so you have to smile." Ilya laughs happily and Sella blushes embarrassedly.

You only keep everyone out and practicing for an hour, long enough to drill most of the basics thoroughly into them, but not so long that the sun starts bothering you or anyone starts complaining of sore muscles. Besides, everyone else has things they need to work on, so you can't really keep them dancing the day away. Ilya, carried by Leysritt, guides you to the ballroom. It obviously hasn't seen much use, and you rather wish Sakuya were here to clean it up properly, but the first concern you have is for the piano. You play the scales and Ilya smiles at you.

"How do you like it? It's nice, isn't it … Flan?" You scowl and open the casing.

"Ilya, when was the last time this was tuned? And do you know where the tools for it are?" The silence is not reassuring.

"Um, I don't know, Flan." She sounds unhappy and regretful, and you just sigh and shake your head.

"Well, I can get it pretty close by myself, but I'm going to be a while. I don't mind if you stay, but I'm not going to be able to talk and I'll be playing keys fairly regularly once I get started."

"Oh …." You pull your head out of the piano for a moment to go give Ilya a hug.

"It's alright, Ilya, and I probably should have thought about this before starting the lesson earlier, but since it's not difficult to dance without music, I wanted to make sure that we got that out of the way before seeing how the accompaniment goes." She nods unhappily.

"Do you want any help?" You start to answer negatively, then hesitate, and Ilya nods. "We'll stay out of your way, then. I'll try seeing about that scrying connection, okay?" She gives you a quick hug and Leysritt bows her head before turning away and carrying her out of the ballroom. You float there for a moment, watching them leave, but after they're gone you shake yourself and return to the piano. That is something you want to get fixed before the competition, after all.

"Flandre-sama?" You poke your head up at Satsuki's voice. "Um, dinner is ready." You nod and turn back to the piano, finishing up the string you're working on and marking it just to be sure you don't forget its place, then hop to the floor and leave the room. Satsuki wrings her hands a little as she follows you. "Um, Flandre-sama? I don't mind eating with everyone, but, um, could I have some blood? Please?" You cluck your tongue and fish out one of the blood packs.

"Don't whine, Satsuki." You float a little and pull away so you can thaw it without damaging anything. It has the side effect of cleaning up your hands and face, too, so you don't have to wash up before going to dinner! "Here you go."

"Thank you!" She bites into it and moans delightedly. You shake your head. Dinner is much the same as lunch was, vegetables and bread and cheese, and you and Satsuki take up your normal places.

"I hear you've been making sure the piano works," Tohsaka says between bites. "How soon will it be ready?"

"Eager to get your loss over with?" She scowls and you shrug. "I was about halfway through the tuning, so … maybe another hour or two." Her eyebrows rise.

"Eh? It shouldn't take that long to get it ready, should it?"

"It's a full-sized piano, and it's been a while since it's been tuned." And ideally you'd give it a day or two to get used to being in tune, but it should play well tonight. Hopefully.

After dinner you excuse yourself to go back to the piano, but something very strange happens. You play some of the keys to see how much you need to tune the string you're going to work on next, but all the notes play properly. The ones you haven't started and ones you left unfinished. You drum your fingers on the side of the case for a moment … but then again, Ilya is a German noble, and the castle is extremely well-kept for only two servants without Sakuya's ability to cheat, so it makes sense that there's at least a few kobolds keeping things tidy. It's a little bothersome that they didn't keep the piano in tune, but if there aren't too many of them you can't blame them too much. In any case, you now have some extra time to yourself! You sit at the bench and begin playing, enjoying the wonderful music coming from the piano. You could just sit there for hours … but you do have things to do.

What do you do?

[ ] Go get everyone for the competition.

[ ] You said it would be at least an hour, and they still have things to do; let them finish up before you get everyone together.

As mentioned before, I don't know all that much about Type Moon. How did the piano get tuned? Actually Heinzelmännchen?
