[X] Explain the situation, you think the Shadow will attack the Einzbern Mansion next, since it's the last mage workshop left in the city, and Sakura herself will be in the Grail Cavern with the core of the Shadow.
-[X] Suggest that you go retrieve Sella, Liz, and Sacchin, then take the fight to the Grail Cavern itself with everyone. Considering what the Shadow did to Caster and Tohsaka's workshops, you doubt a defense is going to hold for long, so you might as well go on the attack before it gets any stronger.
-[X] Or you could have everyone gather at Emiya's for tonight, since for some reason Arcruied seemed to think that it would not be fighting you there. Does Sakura have some attachment to the place? But if the Shadow does attack you there, the neighbors are all going to die, messily.

Endgame Time!!! Hope Ilya survives...

[X] Explain the situation and tell Illya you are leaving Japan and will soon leave the dimension altogether.
- [X] Ask Illya to come with us. Offer your help to raid err investigate the Einzberns Castle.
- - [X] Sulk if she refuses. Point out she doesn't owe anyone anything. She can on the other hand seek way to live longer, even forever with Deis's and yours help.
- - - [X] Should Illya still refuse to come with you, go to London and wreak large havoc publicly there, threw small temper tantrum. Leave the dimension immediately afterwards ...

[x] Explain the situation and go to the Grail Cavern in the morning. But DEFINITELY DO NOT SULK at the mansion for now.
- [x] Bring Ilya along if she wants to come. And see if she'd like to come along after all this is done for ADVENTURES in OTHER WORLDS.
- [x] Go for plan: Distract Sakura, using Emiya as bait while the mages try to dismantle the grail.

You take a calming breath, then another, as you try to come up with the least irritating way to reveal the situation to your allies of convenience - and Ilya and Deis, of course. "So she's not going to be helping us, I take it?" You scowl at Tohsaka.

"… Correct. Moreover, any fighting within the city is likely to see her attempt to engage in hostilities with me." Emiya frowns, a slightly confused look on his face, while Ilya sits up, clearly worried. Tohsaka, however, tilts her head in surprise.

"Really? I thought that was only if I asked her …." You glare at her and Ilya almost growls in anger. Tohsaka sits up slowly and waves her arms in protest. "Hold on, hold on. I was told that if I had trouble with you, I could call Arcueid. That was it, and I told you this before. But if there's any fighting she's going to go after you?" You shrug.

"If she thinks I've been doing anything either in the city or in the temple, she's going to attack me. Which … well, I could preempt her and attack her first, but Ilya's been consistently concerned about what could happen if I fight her, so I'm willing to put that off, at least for now. The big problem is that I don't necessarily have to have actually done anything, so if there is a fight and it looks like I might have been involved …."

"She may decide you were involved and take action against you." Saber finishes your thought and frowns thoughtfully. Tohsaka groans and lays against the table again.

"Yes. Fortunately, the likeliest location that will be attacked next is outside the city," you say, looking at Ilya. She nods. "Ilya's castle is the only magical stronghold left in the area, after the temple and Tohsaka's place, so the shadow-thing will probably go there in search of energy."

"So you want to get together at the Einzbern estate and fight the Shadow there?" You shake your head at Saber.

"No, not really. My own preferences aside, it swept aside Caster's protections with ease, then broke through the defenses Deis put up once it actually tried. And I suspect that Tohsaka's house defenses fared no better?" The mageling waves her hand in a lazy surrender, confirming your guess. "An aggressive defense may work - Archer seemed able to harm it, at least enough for Tohsaka to escape - but I was thinking of going on the attack. Get Ilya and my servants and everyone meets at the Grail. We go in, magicians deal with the Grail while everyone else holds off the shadow-thing, then see where we go from there." You're met with a series of astounded stares, except by Tohsaka, who simply waves her hand over her head again.

"Veto~" she says before sitting up. "I'm in no shape to go off and fight that thing again. Nor am I going to be much use in trying to figure out what, if anything, we can do apart from blowing everything up and hoping that it's not a problem in sixty years. And I need to go back home and see if there's anything I can salvage. It didn't seem interested in my stuff, but … well …." She frowns unhappily and trails off. It looks like she's thinking about something else, and she shivers before pulling her coat tighter around her. Ilya clears her throat and smiles shyly at you.

"I want to check some things before we make our next move, too. I … may be able to find something that could help with resolving this such that the ritual isn't wasted." You grumble and cross your arms - if neither of the two mages wants to go immediately, forcing them isn't likely to help matters. You could go with Satsuki, see if her ability to eliminate mana around her does anything, either to the shadow-thing or the magic circle. Or ….

"Can't attack, can't defend. Then -" you look at Emiya and he suddenly gets a nervous expression, "- how about we all stay here. If the shadow-thing were interested simply in growing stronger, it would have attacked here first, because you're the weakest Master and the house isn't protected - it would be no trouble at all to consume you and Saber either heading to or returning from either of its previous victims. That it didn't reinforces the idea that Rider's Master has at least a moderate directing influence, and so it may not attack here because it's your home. Does she have some affection for this place, or for you, that would cause her to hesitate?" Of course, with yourself, Deis, Ilya, and Tohsaka in addition to Emiya and Saber, it might prove too much for her to hold the shadow-thing back. He squares his shoulders and glares at you.

"Her name is Sakura." You hold his gaze for a moment, then sigh and look away.

"… Well, whatever. If we can't defend, staying here might give us some time when we won't be attacked … although if it does attack, a lot of people are probably going to die. It seems to damage everything around it, from what I understand, and driving it off takes some powerful magic." He frowns unhappily and Tohsaka groans into her hands.

"Why would you bring that up?" she hisses, and Emiya's focus shifts to her. "No, Emiya-kun, I'm not saying we shouldn't care about what happens to ordinary people, but she's probably right. You are the most logical option to attack, and that you haven't been attacked means you probably have something protecting you. Sakura's feelings for you probably are keeping her from letting the Shadow go after you - she's been coming here for, what, a year now? If she didn't care about you, she wouldn't have kept it up for so long, especially since it's so far out of her way." Emiya stares at her, confused or surprised at something, but she just sighs again and rests her head in her hands.

"… Illyasviel, what happened to the monks at Ryuudou Temple?" Ilya looks blankly at Saber for a moment but remains silent. "Then we must give it some target to attack. If this shadow is willing to consume normal humans then we must put it in a situation where it cannot attack civilians." Deis groans exasperatedly.

"Yes, except that's practically a death sentence! Right now we're in no shape to go after the Grail itself, where we can be certain the Shadow will come to attack us, and the only one here that has a chance of getting its attention and keeping it without being killed is Flan - but she's been shut down by this True Ancestor." She faces Tohsaka. "I don't suppose you know how to contact someone in charge, get them to have her stand down for the night?" Tohsaka shakes her head.

"Not really - there's bound to be someone at the temple who's in the know, but I don't know if they can or will be willing to pass a message along. Or how long it would take to get an answer. There's another agent who might still be in the city, but the same problems would apply." Silence falls, and everyone returns to thinking about how to proceed. You simmer, your irritation boiling over - attacking now is the right choice, before the shadow-thing can grow in strength … but Ilya wants to see if the situation can be salvaged and Tohsaka is a frail human mage with no stamina. Saber and Emiya appear to be willing, but what assistance could they lend you? And now you're constricted, restricted, and you're being denied an outlet … maybe Arcueid was right, and you will be seeing her very soon.

What do you do?

[ ] Wait patiently for them to come up with a plan and help implement it.

[ ] "Fine, figure out what we're going to do and I'll make sure it works."
- [ ] Take a nap until someone wakes you up.
- [ ] Sulk until they're finished.

[ ] Take Ilya back to her castle so she can start her research.
- [ ] Practice with Satsuki.
- [ ] "Practice" with Satsuki.
- [ ] Sulk.

[ ] Decoy the Shadow yourself at the Grail Cavern.

[ ] Other?

[n Evacuate the Castle but let the protection intact.
- [n] Flan stay alone at the castle. She waits while entertaining herself by crushing small animals around the castle. (I know, booring, but it will give her something to do and it will create flares of Yuki for the Shadow to "know" someone or SOMETHING magical is present)
- - [n] Once the Shadow came play tag with it. Not let it catch you but also not let it escape you. Poke it with Laevatein (set on fire).
- - - [n] If you manage to occupy its attention till the morning, blew the Castle up (with Shadow inside preferably). It will probably not kill the Shadow, but it could weaken it - and Flandre will feel LOT better!

Postponing the vote/ it's invalid now. I am curious what the new one will accomplish ...

Yes to that. Show them the power of the Scarlet Devil's Sister.

Why don't we ask Sacchin if she knows Shiki's phone number? If we have her explain the situation, maybe we can call Arc off?

Maybe we could goad the shadow into going after Arc, that way we win no matter what.

-[x] Practice with Satsuki.

Going to need the research to win.

Patchouli quietly opened the door and looked around the room. It wasn't fear of discovery that prompted her caution, only the fact that her friend rarely secluded herself in such out-of-the-way rooms, much less for "important projects." And yet she didn't see any evidence of grand workings, no traces of magical energy anywhere … only sheets of paper, scattered and torn and crumpled into small balls. Remilia sat at a desk in the corner, seemingly unaware of the magician's entry, but Patchouli knew better. If Remilia hadn't addressed her yet, it was simply because she was being polite. She started walking to the desk, glancing at an errant sheet as she approached her friend - sheet music? A chair slid across the room as she neared the desk, the white sheet seemingly pulled away as it glided across the wood floor. She settled into it with a smile, relaxing in the thick cushions, and waited for Remilia to finish. Sighing quietly, the vampire stared at her latest creation for a moment, then shrugged and balled it up before throwing it away and looking at her guest.

"Good evening, Patchouli. I trust you are at least as well as always?" Patchouli nodded.

"I am, Remilia. I hope I'm not interrupting anything important."

"Oh, it's important - it's just not getting anywhere. An interruption is welcome … you know how we get." Again, Patchouli nodded; obsessions of lesser and greater degree were something her friend and the younger sister occasionally nurtured, especially when dealing with a matter they considered important.

"It is, as you probably suspect, about you sister," she began, and waited while Remilia comported herself. "She has fallen in with the Einzbern half-breed. She has also attracted the attention of the True Ancestor." Remilia blinked slowly and nodded.

"Arcueid, hm? Not a good piece to be on the board. Flan can't really fight her, and even if she killed her … well, in some ways that would be worse. Half the Ancestors would be out for her blood, and the other half would just want to kill her." He eyes flicked from point to point, as if by focusing on different objects she could gain insight into the situation.

"Do you want me to warn her?" Remilia scoffed.

"Don't be silly, Pache. Despite what you think of her, my sister isn't stupid. Besides, if the Heir of the Crimson Moon is on the field, you can be assured that the Kaleidoscope will be nearby. It's possible that we could pass a message through without it being noticed, but if we're going to interfere we might as well go all the way." Her eyes narrowed and she gazed into the magician's eyes. "Why bring this up?" Patchouli sighed.

"She may not be stupid, Remi, but she's trying to fight the Grail with her foot in her mouth and a stake at her back." She glowered at the laughter she got in return.

"Oh? Hmm … and Arcueid hanging over her like a bird of ill-omen, I suppose? Well, she has had trouble remembering that other people might have a point. Being better than everyone else has that effect - not that you would know anything about it, now would you?" She giggled childishly. Patchouli smiled; it was indeed bothersome, trying to work with people who weren't as capable as you. Sometimes you simply had to step back and let them come to you for guidance. "Still, fighting the Grail? Do let me know if she tries to eat it, will you?" She raised an eyebrow questioningly at her friend's nonchalance.

"You don't want me to stop her?" Remilia gave her an infuriating grin, one of the several that meant she knew more than she was telling. Was Remilia simply planning something she knew she would disapprove of? Or had she come to a conclusion of some kind? She knew that Flandre couldn't access the wish-casting aspect of the Grail, for herself or for another - at least, not without some kind of access … could feeding grant her that access? She doubted it - some vampires could take on aspects of their victims, but Flandre and Remilia didn't share that ability. She looked back at Remilia and noticed the glittering of her eyes. Maybe Remilia was simply goading her. She sighed and shook her head, letting her gaze fall on one of the sheets of music. "If you're having so much trouble, why not ask the Prismrivers to write it for you?" Remilia scowled and shook her head.

"They don't do duets," she said, and the pieces fell into place. "And I want this to be hers and mine - ours - and none else. And then we'll take them down a ladder or two." Patchouli nodded once more.

"Remilia? Might I hear you play? Flandre plays the piano quite well, but she has always said that you are her superior when you set yourself to the task, no matter the instrument." The vampire stared at her - had she been taken off-guard? Then she smiled, and a black violin-like instrument appeared in her hands. She cradled it gently for a moment, then plucked one string, and Patchouli flinched at the discordant noise.

"I suppose I should play an actual instrument sometime, to make sure I'm not misremembering the way sounds work. It has been a while, after all …." Patchouli scowled at the instrument.

"What is that?" Remilia smiled sadly at the vehemence in her friend's voice.

"A tool, Pache, for communicating with certain entities that do not think in words. Truthfully, talking with them for too long makes my ears and eyes bleed, so I don't like it, but it's kept me in practice - at least a little - and they do know quite a bit. Your focus on this plane hasn't done you much good in broadening your horizons, you know." She stroked the odd instrument before shaking herself and smiling more cheerfully. "So, what would you like to hear? Rufst du, mein Vaterland? Or the Psalm?" Patchouli smiled and shook her head.

"I don't suppose you know anything more personal?" Remilia tapped her lips before shrugging and hopping to her feet. Patchouli rose as well and the two friends walked away from the desk.

"I'm sure I do, somewhere. It's been a while, though - are you sure you don't have anything in particular you'd like to hear?"

 Maybe it'll spark a thought here or there.

That was really nice sidestrory. I like it, and like that Remilia finally recognised how much she and Flandre became distant to each other and is trying to mitigate it....

Yeah, I liked the part about arranging for a duet, especially with Flandre's thoughts back during the second Puella arc.

As for what we're supposed to learn from this, I think two points are that we should avoid antagonizing Arceuid, and that we stand a fair chance against the Grail, as long as we don't have to worry about the others.

So I think the current plan to lure the Shadow to the castle for a chase is still our best option. Anyone note anything else in that snippet for our strategy?

Hmmmmm. The Kaleidoscope is here watching, is he?

I wonder if he'll get in touch with Rin.

Maybe we should add something about that into our plans, perhaps by suggesting that they make a run for Tohsaka's mansion while Flandre makes the diversion.

@Entropy Judge , would Flan consider asking help from the mansion at this point? If so, could Deus help sent the message aside from writing it down and leaveing it somewhere?
Asking for help isn't the problem so much as Flan has no relatively sure method of contacting home, and she can't guarantee when - or even if - assistance will come, or if it'll even be useful. She knows that Patchouli is keeping an eye out, but not how frequently or whether she's actually looking around or just checking on Flan herself. I don't think Deis would be any use - she has no dimensional skillset, after all.

RE: Plan @Draggon73 (and you are planning on voting for your own write-in, correct?): Am I correct in understanding that the final stage of the plan involves blowing up Ilya's house?

I think that she is rather frustrated. Flandre will of course present it as a "blowing the shadow up" but she has another plan - without the house, Illya will, hopefully, be more inclined to follow Flandre because what will hold her in this dimension? A "Family" that lied to her? A "brother" she barely knows and wanted to kill until recently? (and if that wouldn't be an awkward relationship). Flandre hopes that Illya will take her offer and come with her as her mage and best friend ...

Edit: And yes I am serious about the plan ... I corrected it recently.

Wait...you are explicitly voting to blow up Ilya's research materials for dealing with the Grail Shadow?

That she just asked us to guard her while she goes through them?

I thought that under the vote "evacuate the house" falls the materials and books? Who would leave their research material and library in a WAR ZONE?

EDIT: I didn't specify it but the house should be an empty husk for the fight with only the wards/bounded fields intact ...

Its a pretty huge and defensible castle. Looting it all quickly may not be possibke

Scarlets are rich. Flan will not mourn some furniture. Nor will Illya I think. And if she wants, she can always veto the plan.

Illya has not much things really worth the hassle - books, her research materials, some jewellery, money, credit cards and such. ALL the other things belongs to Einzberens - good riddance!
