[X] Remind them that you do need to eat, but if they can come up with a way for you to eat without endangering people, you might be willing to go along with it.
-[X] That's how it was done back at your home; the humans there at least know how to make compromises with their betters.
[X] Ask them why they're so worried about the little humans. It's not like they're even the same species as them, so there's no need to pretend they have anything in common with them.
-[X] "Your blood doesn't taste right, not even for a youkai. Still, I guess I could drink yours...no need to grab a human then."
-[X] Laugh, and ask if they've realized there's probably a reason they're call Soul Gems.
You shrug carelessly. It's no skin off you if there's trouble or a compromise does get reached. Still ... there's no reason to pointlessly get in fights ... unless the fight is fun, in which case it's not pointless. You smile sweetly at Mami and bob your head.
"Well, I don't really care so long as I don't have to starve myself - I'm not going to
not eat just because it offends your delicate sensibilities. Back home the youkai reached an agreement with my sister - she wouldn't kill everything, and they'd bring humans who wandered in from outside so we'd get fresh blood. I get the feeling you wouldn't agree to that, though. So how about you -"
"Wait." She cuts you off, frowning. "You ... do you live inside a Witch's Barrier?" You frown, rolling the idea around in your head. It's probably not
that inaccurate ... you shrug.
"I guess. I mean, I don't know if there's just one youkai keeping it separate, and it's not all crazy like this place, and I'm not sure what the humans do, because we're supposed to leave them alone ...."
"Humans and Witches, living together?" The sword-girl is staring at you, baffled. You'd almost forgotten she was there. "That's ...." You shrug.
"I guess. I mean, yeah there's youkai who eat humans - or would, if they weren't stopped - but there's also youkai who don't care about humans at all. And some youkai help humans, and so do some witches and that shrine maiden." You frown a bit, trying to remember how it all fit together. You stayed inside most of the time, though, so it didn't really affect you ... so you kind of ignored that particular lesson of Remilia's.
"Witches, youkai ... could you be less careless with your terms?" Mami lets go of her guns and they fade away. "We are Magical Girls, and it's our duty to protect humans from Witches, which you call youkai." She pauses as you start to giggle, then laugh uproariously. Her frown turns to a glare soon enough.
"Hehehe ... I'm sorry, but whoever came up with those names is an
idiot. I mean, I call you a witch because that's what you are - a person who uses sorcery, specifically a female. I call them -" you point over your shoulder to the still-struggling youkai "- youkai because that's what it
is. Calling it a 'witch' and yourself a 'magical girl,' though! That's just too funny. A magical girl is a little witch; a witch is a big magical girl! And I suppose you think the name 'Soul Gem' is just a name? Names
mean things - you don't just call something a 'Soul Gem' unless there's a relationship! Even
I know that much!" You sigh. "Why do you fight these youkai, anyway? What do you get out of ...?" You trail off, because you notice that Mami is shaking. Shivering herself to pieces, actually, because the fake thing in front of you dissolves into a mass of ribbons. Then you hear laughter coming from behind the youkai.
"Ha ... haha .... No ... no, you're wrong. Kyubey wouldn't do that to us. He, he wants to help us. Ah, Miki-san? Could you please move out of the way?" You're vaguely aware of movement behind you, but it doesn't matter. You have a plan. Mami said something she shouldn't have. She made a mistake. You reach out with your arm. "
Tiro," she begins, and you see an enormous cannon pointing at you, but it doesn't matter. You can see the eye, it's resting in your hand. "
Finale!" she cries, just as you
and the world comes apart around you as you
break the youkai. You're back in the city, dropping onto a rooftop; the sword-girl is above you, falling; there's a rush of air as the cannonball just misses you, yellow sparks blazing around it like stars. You catch the falling girl, grin at her, then toss her to the side. She's not worth the effort, not
fun enough! But Mami ... you can see her, she's on a different building, higher than you and using her ribbons to scale the side. You pull out Laevateinn and leap toward her, flying fast, so fast!
She's able to dodge, though, and your swing cuts through the hard exterior just before you plow into it, crashing through the wall - and the one behind it - before coming to a halt and spinning around. You hurl yourself
up, through the floor above you and then out, through another wall, but your target is nowhere to be seen. Oh well~
"He~ey! Mami-chan! Why don't you come out to play?" You don't hear anything, though, so you fly out a bit and turn to face the building. After a moment of nothing, you shrug and raise your precious gift. You pour power into and through it, manifesting its great flaming blade, and then you slash the building, melting stone and shattering glass. You look around for another target, and strike at a smaller brown-brick structure before shutting off the power. You see yellow below you and dive, plowing through the roof of the building - and it doesn't matter to you that it's a fake,
you're winning! Even when the building explodes around you, yellow bursts of magic and gunpowder flaring bright enough to leave stars, you're laughing with joy. Even if it's not a danger, even if the only challenge is
finding her, this is more fun than you've had in decades, at least. You land on a different building.
"Hey, Mami-chan! Are there any people around here? Who's gonna protect them from the big scary witch?" You're not sure where she is, but she wouldn't have run. You've seen that kind of madness. You've
lived that kind of madness. She needs to beat you or die trying. You feel a tear through your chest as a blade rams through your heart - you spin, Laevateinn flashing out ... but the girl, Miki, is gone in a flash of grey. You frown, unsure of just what happened.
It doesn't matter, though, because you can see Mami again! Well, you didn't see her first - the hail of bullets was your key to looking in the right direction. You wait until just after a cannonball smashes the rooftop near you, then duck under the cover of invisibility. You shudder a bit; you haven't used this much magic so quickly since you fought Reimu, and your lack of control is getting to you. You aren't in nearly as bad a condition as then, especially since you just fed, but you should probably finish up soon .... You float above the roof, watching and waiting, and soon enough, Mami and Miki come walking along.
"Don't worry, Miki-san - I'm sure Kyubey can explain everything. This ... Flandre has to be wrong. He would never do that." She sounds tired, so tired! It's so hard to resist the urge to giggle. You have to wait for the proper moment! That's what Remilia said, it's what your sister told you - wait for
just the proper moment when they think they've won ...!
"Mami-san ...? I don't see her. Is she ...?" The younger girl sounds so nervous! It's giving you such a wonderful rush!
"Yes ... yes, Miki-san. We won -" Mami almost falls to her knees, but you're ready - you invert right above her, flashing to visibility as you latch your hand around her neck and jaw, and
yank, ripping her head right off. You toss a wicked grin at the shocked girl, then fly up, holding your position twenty meters above her while you consider your next move.
[ ] Leave - Miki's not worth the bother.
[ ] Attack - She put a sword through your chest! And there's probably another witch around here, too ....
[ ] Talk - You've had some excitement; maybe she knows where more youkai are!
