[X] Take Lutecia and Agito to Mami's home.
Friendly almost jovial tone would be nice, not only did Mami have spirit be she also provided a passable fight.

Patchouli sighed and turned back to the broken links of chain she was examining. Having sent Sakuya on her way, she wouldn't have much time, maybe a few minutes, in which to continue her study, and she hoped she would be able to learn something from its behavior. Of course, with only a single fragmentary sample, it wouldn't prove much .... Not even two minutes later, she felt something pass through the doors and stood up. She turned to see Remilia walking calmly into the workstation, her bright red eyes flicking back and forth.

"Ah, Pache, I hope I'm not bothering you," she said. "Sakuya told me you had some news about Flandre." She stopped and tilted her head questioningly at the magician, and Patchouli frowned at her.

"Yes ... did you know that some of your chains were searching through the null space?" The diminutive vampire nodded slowly, and Patchouli sighed. "Remilia, I thought you agreed to let me handle this. Interfering like this doesn't quite fall under the heading of 'letting me handle it.'"

"Alright, alright ... so how does that relate to Flan?" Remilia waved off her friend's complaint and looked at the portals. Patchouli sighed in exasperation.

"Remilia, your chains backlashed the spells I had running. I don't know where she is or where she went from her last location! And in order to find out, I need to rebuild the searching spells - so if you have any more surprises I should know about, I'd like to hear it now." She glared at Remilia, who had completely stopped. "... Re-"

"You lost my sister?" Remilia's normally red eyes flashed black as her pupils dilated, and Patchouli drew back. "I seem to recall you saying that you would not, would not, lose track of her, Patchouli. And yet you lost her?" Remilia's voice was unnaturally flat, lacking the emotions that normally suffused her speech, and raw magical power radiated to emphasize her words. Patchouli swallowed and looked down - Remilia was her friend, to be sure, but trying to defend her words against a vampire who was one wrong step from a berserk rage was probably not going to keep her alive, even if she had told her that sending things through the portal without them being warded could disrupt the relatively fragile spells tracking Flan.

"... I'm sorry, Remilia," she said quietly. "I've already begun working on retracing her steps and finding out where she could have gone." She waited in silence.

"... Yes, you do that." Remilia moved to the portals and stood before one of them. "I do believe I shall do some searching on my own, here." She picked up a tiny ivory rod, smaller than her finger, and looked into the frozen image.

"I do not believe she is in that world, Remilia." The vampire glared balefully at her.

"You do not know where she is, but you believe you can proclaim where she is not? Ha!" Patchouli took a calming breath at her derisive laugh. "In any case, through here is nothing but vermin, so it will not take me long to determine that she really is not there. Do try to have made some progress toward locating Flandre before I have returned, Patchouli." She stepped forward through the portal, and Patchouli sighed exhaustedly. Then she glanced at the simple tracking indicator - Remilia very likely wouldn't have any problems in that place, but she didn't want to lose her friend, and it did possess the means to destroy her if she was incautious or made the wrong enemies.

"She means well. She's just ... far too invested." Yes, tell yourself that. Patchouli shivered and turned to leave the workstation. She had much to do, and the simplest would be making sure their new guest didn't end up dying before they could learn anything that might be valuable.

OOH.... which world did Remilia went to?

A Brief History Lesson
[X] Take Lutecia and Agito to Mami's home.

"Hmm ...." You pout a little, then shrug as well. "Sure, I guess." You stand there for a moment, then pick up Lutecia again. Agito glowers at you, then zooms up after you as you soar into the sky. You do have to cross the river, after all, and there's no sense walking if you have clear destination.

"What, you want to keep us in the dark about where you're getting your information from? Maybe worried that this person'll tell us bad stories about you?" You glance dully at the fairy before responding.

"Not really. I just don't know if she's there, because she might be gone if things are different, or if she's there and not home, and she might not be able to help, or she might not be willing to help. And she's actually a pretty good fighter, so if she does decide to attack, I'll have to kill her quickly or she'll be able to kill Lutecia." The magician touches your arm, and you tilt your head at her.

"You aren't worried about her killing Agito?" You shake your head.

"Nope; she's a fairy, right? They don't die permanently." Lutecia has a very shocked expression on her face, and you drift to a halt on a rooftop near the building where Mami lives. "You didn't know that?" Agito flies up to your face and pokes you between the eyes.

"I'm not a 'fairy,' whatever that is! I'm a Unison Device! If I die, I'm dead! What the hell is wrong with you?" You stare at her for a moment, then shake your head. "A 'Unison Device'? Hmm ...."

"Oh ... I didn't know that. I thought you and that fairy Hayate had were just fairies." You shrug and take a step forward, forcing Agito to slip to the side to avoid you running into her. "Oh, and Agito? Don't poke me again~!" She flinches before you leap across the street and glide down to the walkway leading to Mami's room. You let Lutecia walk, holding her up for a moment so she doesn't stumble, then run forward to Mami's room. Her name is still beside the door, and it looks like she's home ... you knock on the door, then step back to wait for her to open up. Lutecia and Agito come up as you wait, eyeing you warily. More than thirty seconds pass, and Mami still hasn't come, so you step forward and try to open the door. It opens, and you smile at Lutecia and Agito before stepping through. You hear a girlish squeak that doesn't sound like Mami at all, but take off your shoes before investigating. You see Lutecia frown in confusion but follow suit. Then you hop forward to see who made the noise.

"Ah!" A girl bumps into you and falls back, and you stare at her for a moment. Pink hair and eyes, attached to a girl who looks older than you. It's her, you know, the girl who sent you away before you could have your fights ... and you don't know what to do, but you aren't going to tell Lutecia about her, not yet. She'll try to leave you .... Your meandering thoughts are interrupted quite rudely.

"Ah ... ahaha ... ahahaha AHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Maddened laughter begins almost as soon as you step into view, and you and the pink girl both swing your heads to look at the source - the elegant black-haired girl. She's swaddled in blankets, sitting on the floor at the table, and she rocks back and forth as she howls. The pink-haired girl picks herself up and bows her head apologetically to you before hurrying over to the other girl.

"Homura-chan! Homura-chan, it's okay ...." She hugs the girl, and the laughter almost immediately turns to a wracking sob. Lutecia and Agito follow you and look at the two girls before giving you a questioning look. You shrug and lean back against the wall, waiting for the black-haired girl - Homura - to calm down enough for you to talk. Before you can say anything, however, you hear a cleared throat coming from the door and look back to see Mami, carrying some bags and looking warily at you. You smile at her and hop back, gently pulling Lutecia with you so Mami can come in.

"Hi!" you chirp as she slips her shoes off and steps past you. You gently push the door closed. "I was hoping to meet with you, Tomoe Mami; my name is Flandre Scarlet." You dip respectfully, and she bows uncertainly in return.

"Umm ... she knocked first, but then she came in, and then Homura-chan -"

"I heard, Kaname-san." Mami interrupts the pink-haired girl and sets the bags down by the table. She walks over to the other two and puts one hand on Homura's shoulder. "Akemi-san? Are you alright?"

"... Yes. She is simply ... someone I have met before, and hoped to never meet again." Agito, sitting on Lutecia's shoulder, has a coughing fit at Homura's words, and all three girls look over at her in surprise. After a moment, Homura switches to you. "So, what did you come here for?" She leans into the pink-haired girl as she waits for your reply. You tilt your head, thinking.

"Ah, before that ... may I ask for your names?" Mami looks at Lutecia and Agito.

"I am Lutecia Alpine," the magician says quietly with a small bow that Mami returns, and Agito hops into the air.

"Agito," she says bluntly, and Mami nods before looking back at you.

"... Well, we were just passing through, and ended up on the big tower across the river, and when we were trying to figure out what to do, three girls attacked us." Mami's shoulders sag and she takes a deep breath. "And I didn't know what was going on, but I did know where you were, so I hoped to find out what was going on." Mami and the other girl both look downcast, but Homura just watches you. After a moment, she shakes her head.

"Kazamino ...." Mami steels her expression and starts to sit down on the couch before shaking her head and gesturing for the three of you to sit. "Please, come in and sit down," she says, waiting for you to take her up before continuing. "Kazamino is not a particularly safe place to be right now. It's always been home to a moderate number of dangerous Witches, but within the past year ...." She takes a deep breath. "There is a girl there, Sakura Kyouko; early last winter, her family ... died. She ...."

"She went crazy," Homura interjects, and Mami glares at her. "It may not be the most accurate explanation, but it's the simplest. Be direct with this girl; she doesn't use subtlety." Mami looks down, upset, then sighs and looks back up at you.

"Akemi-san is right, I suppose. Sakura-san did not take her family's deaths well. We had been acquaintances, but she severed all contact after that. And, just a short time later, she started ... recruiting. She has a large number of Magical Girls with her now, and even though a lot seem to die, something seems to have drawn enough Witches to the area to keep the rest in good shape. I ... I'm not sure what she's planning with them, if she's planning anything, but she doesn't seem to be interested in moving on Mitakihara, and none of her group have ever crossed the river as far as I know. But they take their territory very seriously; you're fortunate to have escaped before more of them arrived." You snicker to yourself - they're fortunate you left before more of them arrived!

"Sayaka-chan ...." The pink-haired girl murmurs a name, and you glance at her. Homura clears her throat.

"Miki Sayaka made a Contract recently, but it seems something went wrong; she ran away from home and is now part of the Kazamino group." Her eyes seem to darken, and you cock your head to the side. Mami sighs and seems to deflate; all three of them are silent for a long moment, and you begin wondering what to say when Mami shakes her head and musters up a small smile.

"Ah, I'm sorry; you said you were passing through, didn't you? It's not much, but I have some space here if you'd like to stay for a while ...." She turns a hopeful look on you and Lutecia; you glance at the magician as she looks around.

"I have spare rooms as well," Homura says, and you see Mami freeze up a bit and look at the other girl, who gives a small shrug. "I won't be going to school, and you didn't want me to be alone too much. I can't make you or Madoka stay to look after me, either ... and I'm a bit more used to some of Flandre's oddities, which might seem - strange." Mami blushes embarrassedly and ducks her head. The pink-haired girl - Madoka? - looks unhappily between her friends.

I'm surprised Homura didn't completely lose her shit, Timestop and begin throwing everything she had at us.
