Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

Small formatting request: when you copy from SpaceBattles, could you first click on the "BBCode Editor" button?

Pasting plain BBCode, which the SB editor can easily give you, will avoid the thing where the font comes out too small over here on SV.

Thanks!

? I don't paste from SB. I copy what SB and SV get from my main file and drop it in here. SV seems to handle it better than SB, though. SB's editor puts extra line breaks that I have to go and manually fix which is REALLY tedious.

Huh, then I'm not sure why your story posts are sprinkled with FONT and SIZE tags.

Those are the issue for me: they make the font smaller than the forum style default, and thus make the story harder to read on this site.

Sample:
Code:
[QUOTE="chibipoe, post: 2953025, member: 1638"][FONT=arial][SIZE=4]1.6[/SIZE][/FONT]

[I][FONT=arial][SIZE=4]Wednesday Afternoon, third day of the week without Emma.[/SIZE][/FONT][/I]

[FONT=arial][SIZE=4]I stared at scribbled note at the top of the page. Was I really keeping time by how many days were left until I had to deal with Emma again?

Huh. I dunno. Cos I just copy the text from the doc to here. Only thing I do in SV is adjust the color to something readable. Size 4 appears to be the forum default as well, at least when I'm editing.

Also, I honestly did not know that Phoenix/Jean Grey was precognitive at all. I knew she was a ridiculously strong telekinetic and telepath, but I thought that was it. I assume the precognition is from the comic version? I admit I'm really only familiar with the TV and movie versions.
Jean Grey is not precognitive, nor does the PF give her precognitive abilities, IIRC.

Jean isn't precognitive(to my knowledge).
However, the Phoenix Force basically bestows all psionic gifts on its hosts, plus, at full scale, well, there's this:

  • Temporal Manipulation: the Phoenix Force can manipulate the past, present, and future across large temporal distances and with a profound knowledge of the causal effect her actions will have. It may be the case that time as a concept doesn't apply to the White Hot Room. it has only been shown when Jean Grey as the White Phoenix of The Crown held her universe in the palm of her hands, possessing the infinite power to write what she would as the "One True Phoenix" in any timeline, using to save her timeline from becoming a horrible future, altering the memories of everyone in reality itself in the process.

The font and size are style-specific, unless someone uses the tags to override them (which your story posts do).

On the FlexileSpace theme, your font + size choice appears smaller, which makes it a bit more difficult to read.

If I use the other theme I like (the Space theme), then the size appears normal, but the font is wrong -- Space is a serif font style, which for me makes the smaller fonts readable, while your story posts override that to a san-serif font.

I'm really not sure then, as I went through all the styles and the font size didn't change for any of the posts I looked at. :/

Well, maybe your eyes are better than mine, and you don't notice the difference because both are easily legible for you.

Anyway, would it be hard for you to just not put in the FONT and SIZE tags? Removing them shouldn't affect you at all, but it would make things a bit easier for blind old men like me.

That's what I'm saying. I paste text in. The only things I do are clicking to change colors and making sure italics are there as needed or center something and that's solely in the rtf editor. I'm not adding any tags at all or telling it to change sizes or fonts.

And, to anyone who might be curious. As of 2.3, Firebird sits just shy of 61k words. If I keep to chapter size, it will surpass Acceleration's wordcount within the next 2 to 3 updatestoward the end of this arc.

ETA: because reasons

Wow, seriously?

It felt like Acceleration was much longer though...

Well, I feel stupid now.

I don't know where I got the 70k number from(maybe someone else's word count), but I just did a quick word count to be sure. Acceleration finishes in at 99,445 words total. So Firebird is about 2/3rds of the way there.

AHA! Thought it was strange...

But don't worry about too much chibipoe, we all does maths wrong sometimes. :D

I have found that pasting my copied text from somewhere, GoogleDocs, I pretty much always have to paste them into the BBcode editor otherwise they throw tons of line breaks.

Sucks because it breaks a ton of other formatting doing that. But fixing most of those is easier than having to manually edit out all the fucking extra line breaks it otherwise includes.

Have you considered zooming in? I keep my browser at 150% zoom on a decent number of websites just to reduce eyestrain.

Regarding Armsmaster and that meeting....

In my mind, while Armsmaster didn't accomplish exactly what he wanted there, it wasn't a total loss. My head canon for Armsmaster out of costume is this. He even has power armor!
