Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

Pretty much. I don't want it to seem like I'm making Madison into a paragon or anything. She's pretty terrible. Just a lesser degree of it. Will she get better? Who can say?

Well, the phoenix/Jean has been known to fix a few outstanding mental issues at times :).... but it depends on whether or not Taylor is feeling nice, or has developed her telepathic abilities to see the 'wrongness' caused by Madison's situation (and her shard)

Idle thought: While I know some of it is Taylor coming into her own, solidified by the other new students flocking to her, (and probably some general form of pity/lack of fear now that the trio have been neutered temporarily), but I wonder if some of it isn't 'Everybody loves Jean' syndrome coming into play, a la low level empathy. :p

You could be on to something there. I don't think the Wormverse is prepared for a full-on Marvel Style telepath. They are bullshit on a level like no other.

Sophia isn't a Ward here. And Madison doesn't seem anywhere near that level of cruel.

Eh, if you put any of the canon Wards who isn't SS in Winslow and they saw how Taylor or anyone got bullied, they would have stepped in, because they actually try or want to or strive to be heroes.

Here chibi made it so that a member of the Ward not only ignored someone getting bullied, but actually participates in it. I been under the impression that SS is a special case and there's a good bit of circumstance built for her in canon, but this came out of nowhere and leaves a bad taste.

Except to Madison the things that happened before the locker seemed normal. It just seemed like normal high school drama. She outright says that she shouldn't have hung out with the other two.

I want to say something about that, but then I recalled who I'm talking to. So I'm dropping out of this.
Yeah to Madison it wouldn't seem like a big deal because she doesn't have to live with it. She pours juice on to Taylor's seat, she gets a laugh and likely forgets about it an hour later. It's not a big deal to her personally. That it is a big deal to Taylor wouldn't occur to her.

Some minor notes on the last chapter...

1/ I'm surprised Armsmaster didn't know Browbeat's civilian ID.

2/ I'm surprised that, if Madison had an ironclad alibi like "not in the city at the time", she got detention.

3/ The Sophia PoV section could use clearer indication that it's Sophia. Madison's section did the PoV identification perfectly.

4/ If anyone at work knows Madison's civilian ID, then she'd best come clean about her participation, and this locker thing makes an excellent breaking point -- "I thought they were just having normal fun, but that was way beyond normal. I'm going to distance myself from them."

5/ These are Taylor's new friends, right? Jubilee and Wolverette?

:)
In order:

1. He does. Madison thinks it's funny that he thinks shaving his beard off constitutes a disguise. He isn't going to blow the identity of a Ward too.

2. She wasn't there for the locker. She was in the vicinity when they cornered Taylor in the hallway and were trash talking her and so got pegged for that.

3. I'll see what I can do.

4. Her superiors know who she is, but she doesn't have to reveal beyond that. So, all the other Wards know is Browbeat's a guy. She is working to distance from those two though at the not at all subtle insistence from her superiors. (She's also getting a lot of crap patrols, so she's got more reasons than just the 'These two are nuts and on the way down the totem pole anyway' for distancing. She's a teenage girl, albeit a damaged one, they can be rather self-centered.)

5. Actually, Catherine's a Erik Lensherr expy and Minako is Rogue expy. Totally.

Here's the really funny part. This actually amplified Browbeat's powers a fair bit I think. S/He's now Changer... probably 8 or 9.

Probably lower. Remember that the number index is a threat rating more then a power rating. Right now, it's just internalized Biokinesis by appearances to change, well, her appearance.

That's not very threatening.

Now, depending how it can be used, then that amps up the numbers.

If she isn't limited by conservation of mass? Then she can probably pull a Lung and bulk up a pretty fair bit.

But she can make like Panacea in reverse, and actually alter and re-engineer her biology to whatever she wants to give her varying and interesting biological forms of attack or defense?

Then yes, she'll likely warrant that rating.

That there is X-23 you heretic.

She'd kick your ass six ways to sunday for calling her Wolverette. And she is best girl ever.

8 or 9? Nope. 8 or 9 is reserved for massive levels of hax or major threats. Pandora from Atonement is Changer 8 or 9, given that her changer power is the basic one and its so goddamn OP she got Brute, Mover, Trump, Thinker, Striker and Stranger effects from it.
