Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

Taylor wakes up in a hospital bed and finds herself cuffed to her bed and Glenn Chambers doing paperwork nearby.
"I don't want to join the Wards."
"You're contractually obligated to join the Wards."
"I neither signed nor agreed to the contract. It all comes down to Armsmaster outing me to my father and scaring him into signing me up when I don't want to."
"And if you were over eighteen then you would have a say, but you're fifteen and your father can do so even without your permission."
"I just wasted a city, do you really think that these handcuffs will hold me."
"They are Tinkertech that is able to withstand temperatures of up to five thousand degrees, I doubt you could melt them without hurt the other people in the hospital."
Handcuffs come apart. Glenn gapes.
"*sigh* Pyrokenesis is just the lastest thing you know about me, but I've always been known for telekinesis and precognition."
Taylor turns her hospital gown into her costume and leaves. Glenn is still gaping.

Ziz's strategy was brilliant. Keep Taylor from a monitoring band, show Taylor's true power including telepathy, pre-cog, and the worldwide thinker blocking fire, make her freak out in front of powerful cape witnesses by attacking her human side emotionally, and then cause her to kill a fucking city. All while Taylor refuses to heed authority.

Taylor is now an S-Class cape and more likely than not has a kill order, and is a suspected Ziz-bomb, even before showing ressurection powers.

No, there is no actual Marvel Canon. It's just a bunch of fanboys pretending there was more to their childhood than being suckers for the treadmill of money grabbing "twists" and "secrets revealed."

I'm sad now because that is the most likely outcome. Taylor was completely played and was completely ineffectual against an Endbringer. :(

Now she is likely world enemy number 1 right next to them and will likely have assassins, heroes, villains, and everything in between trying to kill her so she will never catch a break and eventually she will crack.

There goes the world then.

They did in Marvel Canon. Though they had to use clones of Emma Frost. And combine them into a hive mind.

And together they are fabulous... right?

QA time!
considering how it was worded and what she is a vessel of I really doubt shes dead. Likely either unconscious or temporarily powerless.

PRT PR nightmare just got a hell of a lot more complicated. Especially if she just killed the Simurgh and then resurrected a city. Best guess for what happens next is that Vicky is going to get her someplace safe.

Huh, first response over here too. Well, yes, PR nightmare ahoy.

...well she just became very important very fast...

I wonder if they're gonna try to throw the book at her while she's unconscious? Hope not, but fear and paranoia will be at an all time high after her deeds become known throughout the world...

They'll need to find her.

I'm not so sure that she actually did. The way it reads is extremely ambiguous.

Ambiguous is the best iguous! Or something.

Frankly at this point PR is no longer an issue, with that kind of power she must be considered a potential S-Class threat and the PRT's priority is to gain her as an ally even if they will need to get an Act of Congress to get her out of the Wards and appease her by any possible mean.

And god help Danny if he tries to get involved, losing his parental rights is the less thing I see happening to him, especially if Cauldron decides to control Taylor through him, although if Dr. Mother is smart she'll probably do it using legal means like funding for the Dockworkers instead of mind control or blackmail.

Hahahaha, Danny is going to have plenty of other problems in the fallout of this. Or he will once this arc's final words are written. As for Cauldron. Hmm...

If. if is good.

Considering what the Phoenix represents? Taylor's dead. Just not for very long.

We just have to hope she doesn't come back wrong. :p

Wrong? What is this? Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

For those who think Ziz couldn't survive Taylor's final attack, reread the last part of the fight. Taylor's attack was intercepted by some kind of device, presumably Ziz made tinker tech, which absorbed Taylor's attack and converted it into a city destroying bomb. That leaves Ziz only needing to survive a rather large explosion, likely nuclear scale, which all Endbringers are capable of.

Pretty much.

I really hope that the paranoia here is unfounded, though. Letting Ziz get away makes the whole thing so cheap.

The difference between Ziz being dead and just exeunt stage left is so small as to be nonexistent.

Considering they were over ABB territory and Taylor didn't see Ziz building it with her precog, it was probably Bakuda bullshit that just happened to be conveniently nearby to be appropriated.

More or less. She made a few changes, but most of the work was already there. The rest of the back and forth was the magician waving their hands and saying 'look here' when the real trick was being set up out of sight.

Well If anyone gives Taylor crap she can tell them it's her job as a cosmic demolitionist and builder. The Phoenix destroys what dosen't work and Brockton Bay just did not work..

Hah!

I take it we're going to need more than a Wards Contract now.....?

PRT and Protectorate are going to have some other problems at the moment.

Well, see. Ziz's goal: Unveil these things and leave Taylor in the ruins with a city's worth of dead people on her conscience. Unfortunately, that plan did not go off entirely as woven, so there will be fallout. No need for doomsaying though. As for being played. It was her first EB fight and it was against the Simurgh. As for being world enemy #1. Eh... probably not. There will be notice in the wake of this though. There's a couple of things that haven't been remarked on yet. Let's just say that the containing everything is not a feasible option.

Honestly not even sure if I was going for sarcasm for that post or not. Kinda been dead tired lately. Anyway, good to know it's not going to be completely doom and gloom.

Thus Danny is going to suffer a terrible fate.

...

He never catches a break from ya.

Yeah. That was it in a nutshell.

Whoo! I got it right! Sweet strategy. I assumed that Ziz didn't know of the ressurection power since she's just Modeling Taylor and Taylor never used it prior, but it's nice to see that confirmed.

Piggot kicked out of office, probable. Armsmaster's career ambitions ruined, likely. PRT response could go one of two ways, leave her the fuck alone and don't poke the phoenix, or, more likely, bow to public pressure to get her under control and stop this from ever happening again, damn the torpedoes! Imprisonment isn't super likely, since she's a kid fucked by Ziz and in the wake of her ressurection didn't actually permanently kill anyone. But... while she probably won't be birdcaged she probably will be either isolated or taken into custody.

There will probably be a lot of fear that she's mastering those she ressurected (no true healing powers after all). But they'll be dismissed after cooler heads prevail and they're tested.

You mean like having burned an entire city to the ground and all the infrastructure being ruined worse than a behemoth fight? Yeah. Brockton Bay is kind of dead...

The fact that they are no longer dead people being the part where things went wrong for Ziz?

And playing card games.
On motorcycles.

Not precisely. Even if Taylor was able to bring them back, she still played a part in killing all of them. That won't go away in her mind.
While it will not, consider that any Endbringer battle where Sirin is present might very well have zero casualties for the defenders - after Taylor "gets creative with the laws of life and death."

Also if you thought Eidolon had issues before this, Sirin just made him at his best look like someone who lost the super power lottery. Since he's not at his best, well, let's just say that I don't expect "mentally stable" to be one of his defining traits in the near future.

This I don't get. I think there's a pretty big difference between Ziz being dead and having fled. If she just fled, she can come back any time she wants, for one thing.

Also, Endbringers are jobbing. If Taylor-Phoenix is only able to drive Ziz away, that basically means she can't hurt Ziz at all.

Wait.
Phoenix. . .
Resurrection. . .
Happy Danny. . .
:o
You didn't go that route did you?

What? I have written one happy Danny in all of my stories. And then he died in fires conjured up by his daughter. Would I really make Danny happy? Really? It's like, a rule that Danny dies in my fiction. Especially happy Danny.

^This. SO this.

Yeah, it'll be rough there in BB, even with supplies getting ferried in. There's also the question of what to do with a lot of people. And worries of Mastering.

Sort of. Resurrection wasn't on the table as a thing Ziz anticipated, that is a definite fact. Glad you liked the strategy! As for fallout. Well... people will just be trying to get by for a little bit. We'll see where things go from here.

Random thought; are the shards going to reconnect with their hosts? Or just go DOES NOT COMPUTE and eff off?

Phoenix resurrection restores you to pristine condition, no powers will be lost in the process of Phoenix resurrection. If you experience resurrection lasting more than 4 hours, please see your doctor immediately.

Yeah, some people will have issues here.

What? Taylor pulled a game-changing effect out and was hurting Ziz. As it stands, no, Taylor hasn't grasped that she can just grab an Endbringer and burn them away into their composite atoms. Ziz jobbing here doesn't mean that Taylor can't hurt her at all. The statement applied to the effect of Ziz's presence in the wake of this. Yeah, it would enhance her own reputation, but Ziz just quietly hiding vs being dead means the same thing. She's built up enough paranoia that people will think she's just hiding on purpose, that it's all part of the plan and no one would really think she was dead. And in the meantime, there's a convenient scapegoat for all the fear that an absent Ziz produces, an avian themed cape with powers that are both similar and apparently broader to the Simurgh.

First version of 4.6 actually had Taylor burn the Simurgh to ash as fuel for the Revival, but I changed that. Endbringer fights should, really, have an impact on the story vs 'Fight happens, hero stomps'. And this one does. Whether Ziz is dead or not, well, that's frankly irrelevant. What's relevant is how the effects of this impact things from here on out. If she were to come back, then everyone's terrified of something like this happening again. If she doesn't reappear for a while, everyone's paranoid that she's just planning for something worse, or has twisted everyone in BB into time bombs. Everyone. (Like there probably are people other than Tagg who are that paranoid). Worse, one of her possible time bombs is a teenage girl who had enough power to fight the Simurgh for roughly 15 minutes, mostly alone. And who has now demonstrated a frankly terrifying suite of abilities.

There's no keeping a lid on this. Maybe some details, but the phoenix has flown, and left fire in its wake. Shit unavoidably changes now.

Awesome stuff chibi. I also wonder how groups like Haven will react? Also, is the S9 alive in this fic? If so, Jack would probably be interested in Sirin, not to mention Crawler. Bonesaw would probably want to see how Taylor works. If not, then nevermind. Looking forward to more.
