Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

You know I can understand her dad being concerned but he went to far, he went into 'said almost worst thing he could ever say at a horrible time and while the person he was yelling at was already angry at him' space. I doubt he's going to be forgiven any time soon and even then I doubt she'll ever forget.

Darn. That little omission will have to be remedied then. With Fire.
Why does everybody hate Trickster so much? He isn't a terrible person nor is he the colossal moron Fanon makes him out to be. He's just a guy, imperfect and with priorities. He makes bad snap decisions, but that's a lot of people. Most of those decisions aren't much of a stretch to say that they're sensible or he's not the only one behind the decision.
Honestly, even though I have issues with the characterizations in Synesthesia pushing my WSoD, at least Xom handled Trickster right. That's more than almost everyone I've read has achieved. It's yet to be seen with Firebird's Trickster, but I'm optimistic.

Trickster is a shonen protagonist. If he were in a shonen anime, everything he did would have been the right move. But he's in Worm.

The impressions I'm picking up about the Trickster hate seem to be threefold: Krouse refuses to knowledge his mistakes, manipulates everyone around him, and placed saving Noelle above everyone else without considering any alternatives.

Or this, this explanation works too.

He's the main accomplice to Taylor's kidnapping, and thus drugging by Coil. Your optimism is commendable.

Optimism is for non explodable things, ex: nothing

Yes. Mind you, it's very plausible under the circumstances, but once he calms down, he's going to wince at having said that, IMHO.

Good quality and writing, unfortunately the fact that you are catching up to the plot and the fact that this only covers a few hours of time gives this chapter an overwhelming "filler" quality: boring, mostly unnecessary, and frustrating because we want to get on to the plot...
It'll all work out in the long run. If the plot continued, Taylor would have to be fed the info on what happened while she was out of it. And an info dump is worse than a "how we got here" scene nine times out of ten.

Sure, but a "how we got here" scene is already at a disadvantage compared to normal chapters, so it needs to be a few things (in my opinion): be concise, be entertaining/original/informative, don't be a filler.
For example, if we had followed the week of a progressively freaking out Coil or a gleeful tattletale, and the entire week was summed up in one chapter, I wouldn't have had any complaints.

Man, am I going to piss off the Trickster haters....
I don't doubt it, but you are unlikely to upset me. He is a colossal dick, and no, that really isn't a fanon interpretation of him. If you don't believe me reread the segments with him in it. He is a jealous, controlling, self centered egoist who would rather watch the world burn than admit it is on fire. Look at the segments of the story pre-powers, pre-ziz, and all his bad character traits, habits and choices are already laid out. That all said, I don't mind when people try or even do redeem some portion of him.

Well to be fair to his character, The others and him were all part of a competitive gaming team, and by and large those teams have a lot of incidence of Type A personalities.

And with their nominal team leader out of commission, he kind of had to take command and make decisions, and even once Noelle was awake and 'healed' she wasn't exactly in the right headspace... what with her body turning into a monster factory... on top of her own body image issues.

And then you have Cody constantly pushing to take charge, the stereotypical Beta Male personality. Always challenging anyone in positions of authority above them.

So we can criticize Krouse's decisions to go a certain way and fuck over certain people, but at least he made decisions. How many would just freeze and do nothing at all, and let Noelle die? How many would just let them all get trapped in Maddison and subjected to eternal confinement and shame for something completely out of their control?

I'm not even criticizing his decisions, I'm criticizing him as a human being. Put an emotionless robot in his place and I think I would like it better.
