Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

That is kinda what every reader is waiting for.
A straight awakening is boring.

We want a more gradual buildup.

We want a little fireplay before the main event.

Sometimes you dont have to pheonix hard, cause sometimes thats not right to do.

You gotta burn and scorch em too!

Sometimes you got to squeeze, sometimes you gotta say 'Please.'

But sometimes... sometimes...

I'm gonna burn you, gently.

I'm gonna burn you discretely.

I'm gonna burn you, sweetling.

But sometimes you just gotta say HEY, I'm gonna BURN YOU TO A CRISP!!!

:p

Well Taylor seems to have gotten healing just in time to be drugged... Coil is in for 1 more surprise then I expected.
Also Glenn.....@#$% you Glenn.
And yay Assault is best senpai:oops:

One thing I also noticed.

I can understand Glenn being called in in canon because Skitter -> Weaver was so high profile a flip and they needed serious management of the situation and of her.

But Glenn is more the head of PR in general. Shouldn't Brockton have it's own PR weenie out there?
You know, I always assumed that was fanon too until I decided to check:

"Glenn is always serious," Clockblocker said. "When I first picked my name, Clockblocker, and announced it in front of a live camera so they couldn't retract it, they punished me with intensive lessons with Glenn."

Which seems like an incredibly petty way to use the limited resource that is Glenn. So clearly he's being spread thin or maybe the fear of him, the fear of the PR department is enough to keep the local star systems in line.

Or he was promoted <shrugs>

You could've fooled me.

If I were retreading Acceleration, then Taylor would wake up half-dead from being blown up and Leviathan would be incoming. That isn't happening.

Your post isn't constructive or useful. You have no idea what is going to be in 3.6 and therefore, no idea what I intend to happen or not happen. You can go now.

Honestly, the 'danger-sense' bothers me specifically in this scenario insofar as its selectiveness than it had in times previous during the story, if only to the sheer 'scale' difference in Taylor's apartment getting blown the fuck up/flashbombed to hell and subsequent drug-happy-fun-time (seeing as the Phoenix has quite bad memories of that, and would seemingly be not-so-eager to see it again)...

....but I digress, seeing as nothing good will likely come of it.

But moving on from that, Coil needed to act, I suppose, given that he apparently read/saw that Lisa was not only spilling the beans, but doing so in a way that guaranteed Sirin's enmity. I suppose the plan is to keep her drugged up in perpetuity? If she's on a candy supplement she can do what Dinah can't in getting the hell away, and if he's trying to nullify powers, without some special circumstances, i.e. one of the E88 twins, he risks turning off the precog if he turns off the telekinetics.

But now, assuming Coil lets Minako and Catherine go, they're on the prowl. If he doesn't, their dad will likely have to get involved at some point with the PRT, even if it's just on a basis of those two being gone, and he hadn't picked up/been told the association with Taylor.

Also, Lisa's likely fucked, at least from Coil's PoV, unless he's willing to lord it over her so much that she 'despairs' and ceases trying to rebel given her level of hopeless.

Glen also feels a little...off, but I suppose when he's got a potential 'problem' to solve that doesn't involve someone with as bad of a reputation as Skitter, it's a little more feasible, and thus, a little less of a downer/restriction-placer. I'm wary of him being hyper-competent, but so far, he's toeing the 'good' side of the line.

Also, Poor Danny, if he's fallen that far down the bottle.

I mean, I trust you Chibi, but there have been some points where things have appeared more similar to Acceleration than not. Not saying identical, or even overall similar in terms of narrative direction, but there's definitely been a bit of deja vu at certain segments, though it could be somewhat 'writing similarity' leading to that as well.

This is actually a good thing for Taylor. It means she won't have to spend effort finding Coil or out-bluffing his timelines - he's bringing her right to him!

This is a major problem though. I remember the last time we argued over Taylor not using her precog enough, and this case of neglecting it is significantly worse than the previous ones.

Got a few examples?

WHELP COIL'S DEAD.

best case scenario, he tries the same 'work for me or else' shtick he used on TT in canon and there's nothing in the base that causes issues when Taylor tears it apart on her way out...

Worst case, he tries the same thing he did on Dinah, and gets "I AM THE PHEONIX"'d, along with likely half of Brockton Bay.

Not aside from the explosion at the moment, no. I haven't read through Accel in a good while. I'll look and see if I can't dig up some of the deja-vu moments from previous chapters and find common factors or what have you.

But narratively, we've got an OP, lonely Taylor with issues (though differing in indifference/anger), fighting against authority, the villains, and everyone else who wants to mess/control her OP skillset.

Like I said, I'm not saying it's the same story retread, nor is it specifically the Coil thing, but the end of 3.5 does bring to mind the similarities in Accel of Taylor getting her shit blown up/messed with, and that brings us, or at least, me, to reference the 'stream of consciousness' as referenced above.

As mentioned earlier, writing style similarity could be playing into that as well, especially with the emphasis on Taylor's narrative 'voice'.

This is a major problem though. I remember the last time we argued over Taylor not using her precog enough, and this case of neglecting it is significantly worse than the previous ones.

Hell, I'd feel better with even a sense of unease growing during Taylor's conversation, even if she chalks it up to be unnerved by Lisa/Coil knowing about her power variety.

And to think, this is the timeline he kept.

Peeps keep looking only at the end game and ignore the journey.

Looking forward to where we go next. I expect a devastating cliffhanger.

So... going by what Chibi's said, it sounds like Taylor going full-on Phoenix and burninating everything is probably off the table.

At the same time, you can pretty much guarantee that no matter what Coil tries to pull, it's not going to go as well as he'd like.

Either way... hilarity ensues.

Once, just once, I want Glenn to fail abysmally. The dude annoys the hell out of me, not least of which is because he's generally right about the sheeple and their reactions to things. Dude just pushes my buttons.
