Finding the Spark (Pathfinder 1E Quest)

I second the motion to stay. Not for long (we have other business to attend), but we are not in a hurry to leave. I don't even know if we should go around burning money on teleports. We have the resourses, sure, but what's the rush?
The loose end I've not mentioned is Steeljaw not keeping quiet for longer than another... day and a half? I wonder if we could just buy more poison and bribe them for a few more days of quiet?
That was a day and a half ago. We spent that time shopping.

It's not that Steeljaw would sell us out; he said that in about that time we will be figures of interest. And certainly, after the raid on the distillery and the slave heist (to be done in an update) we will be appraised. Steeljaw if of no import here; he's just another source of information on us, but far from the only one.

If you have a scry scroll any old mirror or pond will do. Though you do then have to cast Sending not Message to talk, Message does not have the range.
I was asking if there was some sort of specialised set-up where Kori could use a scroll of Scrying (which allows attempts at casting Message), but have Sirim being the one to cast Message.

My intention here is to invite her to meet us in a place of her choosing, but have Sirim start the initial conversation rather than have Kori attempt diplomacy.

As I understood it, if Kori were to use a scroll of Sending, there'd be no need for him to try to Scry her. The vision was enough for him to be familiar.

(The other way, which is very risky in terms of her making the will save, would be for Sirim to attempt a Scrying spell via scroll, but since all he would have to work with her likeness (unless since Kori saw things from her perspective, he doesn't know what she looks like, and thus can't Alter Shape into her) which would give her a massive +8 to her will save)

As much as Cob would love to learn it, we don't have the time to stay in city that long.

I don't want to stick around Cassomir any longer than necessary, y'all. Things are heating up here and we've already done our part. Let's get back to Andoran so we can finally start on the job of transporting Gorok's tribe out of Cheliax. It's already been too long, IMO.
I agree that we should focus on getting Gorok's tribe out while there still is one.
If there still is one.

Still, I wouldn't be opposed to watch a little parade when the princess comes.
Getting a taste of Civilization that we poor strangers so rarely witness.

I expect an assination attempt! It'll be exciting.

So we can teleport away, then, and make the boat in Almas (if we have slaves to help after the next update, depending on the amount, I suggest buying reduce person Communal scrolls (level 4), or just Wild Arcana Reduce Person.), depending on what

Also, before we leave, we should talk with Oma.
Oka?

Sailor dude. Now the expedition is over and there's no caravan to act as a herd for him to be a part of, he's just going to get squished by a passing encounter if he stays with us.

So we need to know of he wants to be paid and left here, or paid and dropped off in Almas, or help us with Gorok's tribe relocation and paid a tiny bit extra, and left in Almas.

(I'm saying this because I want to build a super cool boat, but the argument is valid regardless: we should build a boat in Almas and sail it to the Chelliax shore rather than build one at the Chelliax shore, because we need sailor's to sail it.)

Oh. Oh no.
I've just realised something that removes the utility of making a new boat.

@DragonParadox how many people are there in Gorok's tribe?

A 4th level Communal Reduce Person scroll would cost a lot more than four 1st level Reduce Person scrolls. We would just need to be very precise with our timing casting it from the scrolls since the duration will only be one minute.

Cast it on each Iruxi with us and have them immediately climb into the Bag of Holding, rinse and repeat, then once they're all in, we immediately use a Teleport scroll to travel to Augustana.

Reduce Person isn't eligible for Wild Arcana because it takes longer than a Standard Action to cast.

I think Augustana is the better choice. Isn't it where the Andoran navy is based out of? And where we made friends with the Gillmen after helping the kid with his marriage problem?

It's also much closer to Cheliax than Almas, so we would need to sail a shorter distance to reach Gorok's people.

EDIT: @BeepSmile, another reason to do it in Augustana is that it will be the best place we can find a suitable crew. We might even be able to get the Grey Corsairs to help us out. They normally fight slavers at sea and the Chelaxian navy, so this mission would right up their alley.
It would have to be a good one. Eutropia Stavian might be the unfavored princess of an empire that is a shadow of its former power, but she is still the spare-heiress of a big Empire with deep history and deep pockets.
She's going to be geared very well and have serious protection. If someone is going to try to assassinate her, they're going to be well outside of our league. The best way to avoid being caught up in all of that mess is to be in another country when it happens.
86 at last count, though more could have died or hatched since he last saw them.
Oh yeah, we can easily fit all of them on a single large ship.

@DragonParadox, just ballparking it, how are we looking on XP since we've reached Cassomir. I didn't think we would make it to 7th level before departing Taldor, but the Drow encounter might have pushed at least a couple of our people over the line once the other intrigue-related XP is added in.

Kori and Sirim are closest to leveling up.

I've been looking at spells for Kori to learn on his next level up. He gets a few next time.

There's one I've seen before but I can't remember if we talked about it in this thread.

Kori can't use Diplomacy worth a damn, but his Intimidate bonus is very high and it's just going to get better. Hidden Diplomacy can be duplicated using Shadow Enchantment, but 3rd level spells slots aren't easy to come by, especially when a 1st level slot will work most of the time.

Obviously, we wouldn't want to use Hidden Diplomacy in all circumstances, but it would do the trick pretty often, and since the spell can be cast as part of making the Intimidate check, we wouldn't need to worry about casting it ahead of time.

Arc 9 Post 61: Where the Wind Blows New
Where the Wind Blows

17th of Kuthona 4707 A.R. (Absalom Reckoning)

You cut a deal with Saenar for him to teach Cob, the negotiations of which go by with the same uncanny courtesy he's showed so far, which you are beginning to believe has nothing to do with the spell of suggestion and everything to do with the same temperament that has seen him make his escape from the Court of Blood in Zirnakaynin. As the sky grows blue and bright over Cassomir with only a light dusting of clouds to hide the face of the sun, Sirim and Cob did their job and the Lord Governor gave the people of the Teeth one more reason to hate him, at least according to Sir Pisca.

"By now the rumor mill has made slavers into rebels worthy of the Everbloom, mark my words, and when all this is done you, friend, will be remembered as a wicked shadow weaver bent on working your wiles on the good people of..." The knight can't keep a straight face, drowning his smile behind the wine glass that one of the palace's many servants had materialized as if by magic.

"You, sir, are a cynic," Mina accuses without heat.

"On the contrary, if I were a cynic I would withdraw to a small country estate with an orchard and live a life of ease lest some dragon gain a taste for apricots. I am simply saying that magpies will pick out your eyes if you let them, be they great or small."

For a man who thinks so little of others seeking wealth, his hand lies all-too-comfortably onto the fat purse of gold that had been his cut of the drow's gold... his cut after paying the alchemist for his services in dealing with the arcane fluids out of his own looted funds. To be honest, you had been worried that he might take it ill to be repaid with only part of his own money for doing a job.

"At least you freed the slaves," Mina sighs. "You did free them, right?" The unwelcome thought seems to have just struck her.

At that the knight seems faintly affronted. "Of course, this wasn't a legal sale after all. I wouldn't be surprised if they're just beggars swept off the street for easy coin. Their stories certainly bore it out, as did the involvement of the snakes who call themselves the Western Winds Company, more snake than even I knew."

"Aspis?" you ask, intrigued and morbidly curious if you would have come out to the other side of this whole affair if Gavhaul had lived.

"Yes, they talked a bit too much in front of 'the stock', knew they were going to be killed and defiled you see. One of the old timers had ears a good deal sharper than he let on and he sang like a bird once we struck his chains. The governor is planning to raid the company premises out on the docks at noon. He wants this all wrapped up before Her Highness shows up, just in case they have some mischief prepared."

"We could go, right? Loot some more?" Cob asks eagerly. You would have sworn he would knock over the low table jumping up like that, but if there's one thing about Cob you've gotten used to is how talented he is at causing chaos only when he means to.

"No," Gorok says firmly. "Too many eyes on us already, too many enemies. We take the gold, we go to Augustana."

"We should deposit some of it with the Abadarans here in the city, they are good to withdraw from all across Avistan Garund and beyond. Such is the vow of the Master of the First Vault," Sirim interjects.

What do you do tomorrow as Cob learns alchemical formulas?

[] Deposit some of your gold with the Temple of Abadar
-[] Write in how much

[] Argue that you should help put an end to the WWC

[] You have a few other things you'd like to buy
-[] Write in

Pfftt

Also Rebels?

Abadar is good to his word. Even to the detriment of the entire multiverse.

If we deposit money in a bank in Avistan I am confidant we could withdraw in a bank as far away as Axis.

Smaller communities might be worried about us crashing the local economy however.

I'm not interested in raiding the WWC. We've already done enough today and our resources are low.

The sooner we deposit our money, the better I'll feel. It's a huge amount of money and it will be safe in the bank, even if it will make it more difficult for us to retrieve it later.

@DragonParadox, is it all right if I just use a link to the page where I've been compiling our newest shopping wish list? I'm busy finishing up cooking and am about to head out to a family gathering. If necessary, I can put the stuff into the regular format later.

Is there anything else y'all want added to the list?

[X] Saving for a rainy day
-[X] Deposit 800,000 gold with the Temple of Abadar
-[X] Then do one last round of shopping before departing Cassomir. What undeposited gold remains after shopping will be split up between the group's Bag(s) of Holding and Handy Haversacks. Although the bank is reliable, and there are branches throughout the continent and beyond, we won't always have easy access to one of them, so it makes sense to keep a large sum of gold for unexpected expenses.

I will say. Kind of a shame we won't be around for her Highness visit.

Between the duplicity. The drow. The alchemist spilling all the drow beans to the duke...

And of course the Aspis consortium working the streets here.

Her "diplomatic visit" is going to be very interesting indeed.

Yeah, but there is such a thing as too interesting.

We'll probably hear about some crazy shit going down through the rumor mill by the time we get back from Cheliax.

Hopefully our contributions will have made enough of a difference to strengthen the governor's position, along with the Fahlspars. Having influential people owe us favors is always nice.

I think you should buy enough Reduce Person scrolls for... three teleports. Just in case we need to do this again. Also, we need to ask Oda what his life plans are now that there's no caravan for him to find safety in, and he might want to come with us. So we should at least add him in our calculations.

Also also, I think this is the moment where we use the Governor's offer of "rare lore" to get us another go at rare scrolls - he can try to get us a raise dead from a reputable source, and also that scroll that boosts Aid Another.

----
Ask the alchemist if he'd mind whipping us up a priority order of Drow Poison, 10 to 20 doses maybe? Depending on how many he can produce without overworking himself. (Also, can that be one of the alchemy things he writes down for Cob?)
More of the Fire Jackal Spit. Quite a bit more. From 10 to 30(?) doses more. As many as we can get before the price starts to go up. While the last fight used three doses on an immune alchemist and a (presumably) immune summon; that doesn't mean it's not very useful to have.

Comprehend Languages X3, for when we need to understand written Alzanti, and Kori fails his roll.
Deadeye's Lore X6, because having Gorok have to bother to prep this takes time. (Honestly, we'd be better with a wand, if possible)
Visualization of The Mind
Reputable Raise Dead
Foxe's Cunning
Eagle's Splendour
Anthropomorphic Animal
Polymorph Familiar <- For Monkey/Wand stuff
Scroll of Rune of Rule: x1 <- Governor tries again for us (high priority)
Raise Dead <- Governor tries again for us (medium-high priority)
Lesser Metamagic Rod of Tenebrous Spell: x1 (1,500 gold) Not found <- Governor tries again for us (low priority)
Three or four more Rings of Spell Storing (for ship building shenanigans mainly - having Sirim cast True Skill into a ring and having Pepper use it would be amazing, while also allowing for for other buffs on Pepper via different Rings, but having a ring with Haste in it for buffing mooks or a prepared Delay Poison can save us Surge Points. Or a Polymorph Familiar spell for when we want Pepper to use wands in a fight)
[Addendum: @DragonParadox Can we store Mythic Haste in a Lesser Ring of Spell Storing?)
Scroll of True Skill, (though I intend to have Sirim put that into a ring via Wild Arcana for the higher CL)

Idle musing: I wonder if we should get any Pages of Spell Knowledge for Kori? [Embrace Destiny (lvl 1)]
Wand of Dream Feast

For Pepper:
Some sort of item that provides the ability to use wands without hands (via mage hand item, I recall you suggesting), if DP allows any such things (though if he needs hands, we can use figment stuff to get him some, I think).
Wand of Ill Omen
Wand of Cure Light Wounds
Wand Key Ring X2 (Ill Omen, CLW)

Magitech Mecha-suit for Pepper. Preferably one that can combine with Warty's Magitech Mecha-suit (see below).
Magitech Mecha-suit for Warty. Preferably one that can combine with Pepper's Magitech Mecha-suit (see above).

----
@DragonParadox what items can we get that will boost Cob's Alchemy? Stuff that's compatible with the Portable Alchemist Lab
... Even if not compatible, this gives a bigger bonus: Cauldron of Brewing
