[X] PRT tour
-[X] Wards base

The shadow watched as the girl and her classmate walked into the transparent building.

Since his appearance, nothing of particular note had happened.

The girl went to a place of learning, listened to her paidotribes, went to her dwelling, talked to the ragged man, and then stared into the light box.

Perhaps the biggest difference from the beginning of this, was her current companion.

It reminded the shadow most of a bird, there was a certain grace and gracelessness to it that could not come naturally in its experience. At first it had been cautious of it, but none of its instincts said that it would do harm and the shadow accordingly did nothing to impede it.

At present, the girl and birdgirl were waiting in the entryway of a large building, with a far too happy woman leading them and a few dozen others. The shadow did not like someone this happy. Birdgirl was happy, but genuine. This woman pinged as dis-genuine in her cheer. It rankled it.

No one else seemed to be perturbed by this.

Rather the girl seemed to be happy, perhaps a bit indulgent if the shadow judged correctly. She was following along with the group as they were led deeper into the fortification.

Make no mistake, it was a fortification. There were armed guards, soldiers. Of what kind of armaments, the shadow could not tell, as they looked to have tubes connected to a satchel and covered in cylindrical devices.

Once again, none of this seemed to be a surprise to the girl. From what it was gathering, she had been through this fortress before. The bird girl had most definitely not. She was practically vibrating in excitement. The shadow had seen less excited children receive their first spear.

The slow procession continued, stopping every few dozen pous, causing the crowd to make noises of admiration as they stared at metal scraps, or a painting. Even the glass enclosure in the below ground area got a long pause. It was a curious thing, looking at them.

There was metal of some variety that coated and intertwined with their construction, elements that were hidden from view that meshed into a singular form and created something more. Something far stronger than the individual components could ever hope to be through mechanisms beyond its understanding. At least current it's understanding.

The shadow pondered it as the group moved on.

Ward DCs:

Triumph: 65
Shadow Stalker: 88
Vista: 68
Kid Win: 76
Clockblocker: 73
Aegis: 71

Rolling…

The group was led to a checkpoint where half their number in soldiers joined them.

None seemed to be inclined to violence towards the girl or the bird-like companion. The shadow's hackles were raised regardless, as the throng of people got more and more excited as they came upon a door.

An extruding bit of wall was pressed causing a loud noise ring out, something the shadow was sure none of the people could hear as it was happening on the far side of several walls.

The wall slide open, the metal frame receding into the wall. Revealing...

Triumph: 30
Shadow Stalker: 35
Vista: 45
Kid Win: 14
Clockblocker: 21
Aegis: 2

No one inside a rather spacious room.

Both the girl and the bird-like one were visibly disappointed. The companion especially, looking like a stream whose source had been dammed.

Their discontentment took some time to overcome before they were back to normalcy, albeit with a lack of energy less inherent in their motions.

It didn't change the fact that the girl had a small smile on her face when she returned to her abode at the end of the day.

What is Taylor going to do over the weekend when she has free time, i.e. not doing school work?

[] Patrol

[] Research the cape scene in Brockton Bay

[] Power experimentation

[] Costume/Name/Presentation Preparations

Author's Note: Not going to lie, the least interesting options were picked. Sadly, Taylor did not get to use containment foam launcher today. Plus KindredVoid whiffed on the rolls hard.

Decided to change it up with the giant's POV for the tour.

Anywho, the weekend power vote, here we go!

Honestly, avoiding Shadow Stalker is probably for the best.

"Giant" calling Nikki a bird girl is either worrying or heartwarming and idk which. (Mostly from either the attitude or potential power relating to bird but I think it's unlikely.)

Regardless of the lack of events means nothing good, nothing bad.

I wanna either experiment, costume, or patrol. Gonna sleep on this.

[X] Costume/Name/Presentation Preparations

I really want to just jump into the action, but Taylor really should have some kind of cover for being the voice of reason for Berserker. Even a simple costume to protect her identity would help keep her and Danny safer, a name would be good to interface with the heroes and villains, and having some kind of story for who she and Berserker are and why they're working together would be a good cover to the truth.

Actually, claiming that she and Berserker are two different people working together would work pretty well. There's no 'known' case of a parahuman power that makes another person, so claiming that Berserker is just a Brute while Taylor is a support cape, either a thinker or a striker who can make Herk invisible or...well we'd have to power test to find out what else we can do with him because I'm hesitant to pull straight from the Fate Master playbook just yet, would be a solid cover. It would explain anomalous aspects of Berserker's powerset, invisibility + super strength & speed + inhuman durability is an odd combo, plus anything else, and why the two of them are typically close together. Play our cards right, people might think we're a Father+Daughter cape team, making people look in all the wrong directions.

Guess I'm throwing that idea into the ring.

Of course there is always the possibility that they class Taylor as 'Master'

:p

So that is a possibility, but most Parahumans who get a Master rating rarely summon human-like beings. They either control existing beings, canon Skitter's bugs, Bitch with her dogs (even if her powers don't directly control her dogs, after being trained they are still a part of her combat style), Valefor, Canary, and Regent (plus Heartbreaker, Cheryl, Gallant, wow there's a lot of parahumans in this category) controlling humans, or manifest something else like Crusader and his ghosts and Manton with the Siberian (which are both fairly apt comparisons considering what meta knowledge we have of Servants and Herakles in particular), though the last one isn't known to the public. And Masters are fairly rare parahumans, if we tell the others we're a thinker who can communicate with Berserker telepathically or a striker who can make him invisible or a mover who can teleport him to our location, then that's a whole extra layer to protecting Taylor from being identified and fought properly.

It does raise the question on why we would lie to the PRT and Protectorate about being a Master, outside of having a cover story to feed villains, though I suppose distrust of authority figures would be a part of Taylor's mentality considering everything that's happened to her. Really, in a quest like this, I find it more fun to play it less like a game to play and more like a story where we choose what happens next. Trying to play ourselves off as two Capes working together as a team, say to avoid being pressured into the Wards may be inefficient or difficult or illogical, but it sounds more fun.

And as a quick reminder, PRT ratings aren't about the powers themselves, but shorthand for threats so people know what to expect and how to, potentially, deal with them. No one realized the Siberian was a projection, meaning that Manton was fairly safe to do whatever as she raged. If the Heroes knew the Siberian wasn't an unstoppable Brute and that Manton was a Master projecting her, everyone would just go around her as they tried to corner and defeat him. So actually that's a second reason to play an obfuscation game, it's a combat strategy. A bit like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, where trying to figure out what an enemy can and can't do is key to defeating them.

Would probably be easier if both people could actually speak.

Herc just kinda grunts as a Berserker.

Not to mention, outside of having Herc, Taylor has literally nothing other than 'direct ghost man'

Taylor: I'm sorry but you guys are being really ablest right now. Berserker can't speak so how dare you imply that just because he can't he's not a person. *pleasebuyit pleasebuyit pleasebuyit*

I don't think Taylor need a costume. She can just hide while Berserker do his stuff.
I forget can Taylor mentally command Heracles, or does he only respond to verbal commands still. If Heracles only responds to verbal she'll have to be in range to both react to new things happening towards Heracles on the battlefield, but also be in range of vocal commands. If so she'll have to be out in the open because hiding while simultaneously shouting commands will just get her found. So she'll need a costume. If she can command heracles mentally, it still doesn't matter because she still needs to be able to see what's happening on the field to effectively command Berserker. I may have forgotten a couple things, but I know she hasn't figured out or can't use Berserker's senses.

So far? She's only been able to do it Verbally. Now, the question is whether it's because their Bond isn't high enough(Highly doubt that) or cuz as a Berserker, Herc ain't really up to reading mental commands OR even that Taylor's 'Power' isn't strong enough for that.

On that note, @Jefardi , how much Shard Bullshit™ are we using here? Is Herc actually Herc? Or is it some weird coincidence for an Alt-Power? Does Taylor have ANY circuits? How much is QA involved in this?

This is one of those things where I want to answer but doing so gives either too much information away by denying or confirming something.

The most I am willing to say is QA is involved. Her/it's/his presence has come up in the text a few times actually.

How do you define Shard Bullshit™?

How do you define Shard Bullshit™?
the best definition of "Shard Bullshit™" I can think of is: Power doesn't belong in the setting it appears in, there is no grounds that allow it to be channelled, EXCEPT by a Shard.
Example: Touhou Taylor has ability to fire spell cards. It has no right to exist in Worm setting, therefore a Shard is MAKING IT so that they work. (This usualy alos means that the source material world is double dead because entities made a shard with that power.
