[X] Taylor heads straight there. [No evening cape vote but pleased father figure]
The shadow watched the girl sigh as the cityscape passed by her view.
She had been doing this since she had left where she spent most of her waking hours. Occasionally she looked at the communication rectangle and made a considering noise or a light chortle.
She did not require it's intervention at this time and as such, it could only observe.
The light of day had reached its penultimate position when the girl finally left the confines of her transportation… tube. There was a better word for this, the shadow knew this, perhaps even just a better shape than 'tube' given its hard corners. The problem with that boiled down to the shadow not caring. It was not its primary directive and therefore it wasn't just secondary, it was completely superfluous to its existence.
The girl walked into an area she had yet to travel since the shadow had come into being. Yet she seemed to be known nor was she accosted.
After she went into a building, more akin to a temporary abode than a permanent structure - the shadow was almost certain that it could be knocked over by a particularly light breeze. Within was her father.
He looked at her and gave her a greeting.
She gave a mumbled response and stared at the floor.
His expression pinched, tone changing with frustration.
The girl's words were slightly less mumbled as her face reddened.
He sighed. Then gestured.
She unfolded a rectangle into a chair and sat on it before pulling out her communication rectangle.
He stared.
It was not challenging nor aggressive, and therefore the shadow was unneeded. Rather it looked rather unhappy.
She noticed shortly thereinafter and put it away with jerky motions. Instead she pulled from her bag a horizontal rotula.
He went back to working on something- most likely whatever he was working on when the girl had entered.
The communication rectangle made a noise.
She started to reach for it only to stop and look at her father.
He stared at the device before asking a question.
She glanced at the screen, several scribbles and a picture of ill-omen before shaking her head and asking a returning question.
He answered positively, if tersely.
She poked at the device before putting it away. Then she pointedly went back to her book.
He went back to his prior activities.
Neither of them were actually focused on it. Rather, they both snuck glances at each other. The father more so than the girl.
Natural light no longer illuminated the world outside.
It was a quiet evening.
[Average days patrolled: 3/8: 37%, Goal 50%]
Taylor has been grounded for three days.
It is Friday, March 11th, day nine of the current gang conflict.
After school, Taylor…
[] Taylor tries to sneak in some patrolling by taking a very meandering path to her dad's office. [Truncated patrol rolls with mild possible consequences]
[] Taylor heads straight there. [No evening cape vote but pleased father figure]
[] Taylor says screw the rules and ignores the grounding and blames the current events in the city for why she can't go. [Will result in full evening cape vote with consequences]
Author's Note: Have an explanation of why the shadow doesn't call people by their names.
Short chapter, but it didn't take me two weeks, so that's an improvement.
