[X] See if she could find something to read at the library or at least check it out?
The school library was everything Taylor had expected it to be.
Metal shelves with a facsimile of wood paneling at the end of each row. Bare metal shelving units in rows with books that could easily be from last year or fifty years ago thrown together in a vaguely organized system. Maybe two dozen computers in a little pod in the center with maybe twenty comfortable chairs scattered throughout the room.
It screamed school library to Taylor. Which it should, given that it was.
A handful of students mingled, several on the computers and one standing by the printer near the librarian's desk, looking like he was a second away from hitting the machine as he kept twitching towards the door. Only three people she saw were reading on the actual chairs deeper into the room. If she had to take a guess, the majority of the people used the library for the computers.
It was a far improvement over Winslow as this one at least looked cared for. Not well cared for, but cared for.
Perhaps more impressively, there was a table that had pulled Taylor's attention.
The placard on the table read, 'New to the Library!'
Green eyes blinked.
They were actually new books too. That was what was really surprising to Taylor. It wasn't just a few either, as she circled the table, coming to a stop near the pile that she would tenuously label as cape related.
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzt
The bell signifying that lunch for her lunch group was over rang. She only had a few minutes to get back to class.
Taylor didn't hesitate and grabbed the first book on the table within reach before making a beeline to the librarian to check it out before heading back to class. She could always read between classes during the couple minutes of breaks.
It was only when she was pulling out her binder for World History that she saw the spine of the book she had checked out...
