Fallen Fantasy Worldbuilding Thread (No SV, Help Cyber Go Insane in Fantasy Land Together)

Trickster Gods consider pranking to be a sacred pastime, aside from being part of their religion.

If said trickster gods are unlucky however... They tend to face disastrous consequences. Like when Loki made an arrow that accidently Baldur's kryptonite, and ended up tortured for the rest of ever.

Occupational hazards, am I right?

One thing I kinda thought of, is well...

Things might get INTERESTING if the RWBY series hunters interreact with the Ymaryn. Between the difference in culture, and the Ymaryn workaholic nature, things may get interesting with the Ymaryn seeking to do the whole unlock aura thing, with even the craftsmen and farmers being interested, thanks to the nature of the semblance.

And then there is the mechashift weapons, which all of the smiths would like to learn the secret of how that could be done without compromising on the quality and sturdiness of the final product. If Ruby were to meet with them, well things might get a little crazy, considering she is a gun nut and they would probably end up also learning things about miniature canons or guns in the process, while probably developing some crazy things.

...Thinking about craftsmen.
Wonder how a general ranking of crafsmen quality per faction would be?
I mean, the elves and dwarves would probably clutter at the top, but it might be interesting to see how certain factions compare, like perhaps how the Engineering knowhow of RWBYverse holds up to smithy masterwork, natural advantages of age and such for supernatural races comparing to the sheer passion and workaholic nature of the Ymaryn, and so on.

I'd like to pitch a faction:

Location in the Real World- Australia

The Awakened Empire

King/Ruler: General Pawala Joko

A legendary Necromancy rumored to have cheated death in the time of a God who proclaimed Death Undeniable. His armies of the corpses of countless lives, human and monster alike, once brought an entire continent to it's knees. But, a heroic general who would one day be known as the Ghostly Hero did deliver to him his first defeat, and the mages of that coalition did seal him away for a countless years as his army routed for the first and last time.

Yet indeed an Undead of Joko's stature remained unable to die, and in time he escaped into a time of Nightfall, as a God of Secrets made his own ploy to escape imprisonment. Ever patient, the Scourge did aid that time's Hero's in granting the Cult of Secrets a defeat like none other, and succeeded in avoiding reimprisonment long enough to reassert control over his more ambitious lieutenants.

Sixty years after the Death of Secrets and the Birth of Truth, He made his play. The continent was at last his. Later in the time of Humanity's decline, the General met his final end at the maw of an ambushing Dragon. Given yet another second chance at existence, Pawala Joko may learn from his mistakes once more, and come to achieve his unlife's ambition

A true Immortal has all the time he could ever need to conquer the world after all. And if he played his cards correctly, the world would welcome him with open arms.

Land: The Desolation

A land forever blighted by conflict between the Gods, near inhospitable to most living things. The Bone Palace stands strategically among the toxic clouds, jagged crags, and ruins of defeated deity's followers. From here, the Awoken sharpen their steel and refine their armor, in a place where the living we're meant to only walk with their General's permission.

Rule: The Scourge of Vabbi

High taxation, the wealth of the nation spent to refine the army. Every corpse conscripted in the name of the cause. And if one shows unsatisfactory amounts of loyalty to the regime, you will find yourself joining the ranks far sooner than you might wish. But life is allowed to grow in the shadow of the Bone Palace. Without that side of the coin logistics would surely dry up faster than bathing in the dry season. A not insignificant amount of the General's time goes toward insuring the populace believes in their Immortal master's "heroism and benevolence," the better to prevent a wasteful and time consuming rebellion.

But rumor's of Pawala Joko's greatest rival also returning from beyond the grave to mortal flesh persist in the domains of the living...

Thank you, I spent longer than I care to admit trying to find a setting that hadn't been suggested on this thread yet.

Edit: I'm also somewhat embarresed that it took me as long as it did, given that I used to play that MMO.

It's on my List. I've gotten some spoilers anyways though and wouldn't mind at all if Arcane content was included in this world!

...Whom are at the british isles?

I mean, we could put both the Legend Camalot and this interesting blend of historical and legend take in England. I mean, having the two interact would be interesting that is for sure!

One side brings the knights of the round table in their protagonist glory, an the other brings vast knowledge and a true force of legionnaires to the table. With one Merlin being the best mage to ever live, and the other, probably close if rusty, but also with vast mundane knowledge, including that of the cataphracts and Legions that helped form the core of their army, alongside infrastructure such as the roman granary.

King/Ruler: Artorius Castus Pen Draig

Land: Cair Legion

A small, but recovering land. Yet one with potential, Cair legion has the center of the legion, with the legion base being rebuilt to supply and train the famed legions remade to achieve Artorius's ambitions. The capital houses Rock of St. Patrick, a major center of christian faith, holding vast knowledge saved from the Glendalough siege by pagan Cultists backed by magic. Which, alongside Merlin's personal collection makes for a vast collection of knowledge at their disposal, and sets the foundation to potentially do some magical artifice. Which alongside the Mediolanum forgeworks recently aquired, albiet in an atrophied state gives lots of potential as long as a source of iron is aquired.

Rule: Roman Mandate

Artorius is a man of principles, inspired by the stories and legacy of rome. While there are not much bureaucratic infrastructure set up, with them still operating mostly feudal, between the rise of new nobles through proper surveys clarifying who owns what, leaving unclaimed land for new lords and the ascension of other groups, including Jewish refugees and a pictish clan. The stage is being set to help bring reforms, inspired by rome much like the infrastructure of the towns. While Christianity is one of the unifying forces of such an eclectic gathering, between Merlin and the druids of Culain, they are unusually accepting of other faiths, though he rise of magic and the potential conflict with the cult of Scrathach probably helped.

Tried to do a little something. This groups merlin woud probably lose against the one from Arthurian Camalot, but has LOTS of knowledge, including mundane matters, as that was a major part of merlin becoming an advisor prior to being able to show his mage skills. Though that doesn't make him no slouch on the field, even f a little rusty. Though there is probably some interesting mirrors and differences between the two forces, with the Arthurian having more focus on their knights, with the round table being ELITES. While Artorius has a disciplined legion, which while inferior to other elites 1 on 1, more than make up for it by functioning as one unit much like the Romans of old did. With knights and the Elite Graal knights serving as the hammer, albeit often working alongside the cheeky Sarmatian Cavalry that loves to bait enemy knights out to be crushed by the Cataphract inspired forces. Though not sure of a fitting name yet.

...Depending on the version of brettonia, things could get INTERESTING.
Withthe roman being odd for his romanness. Arthur being odd just being himself, and managing to make things work mostly from sheer force of the round table. And Brettonia, depending on the version, may have both united in confusion from the sheer so dysfunctional it shouldn't work yet it somehow does energy.
The two merlin's meeting may end up being a learning experience for both. As one has far more mundane knowledge, and unknown but very respectable magical knowledge albeit being rusty in actual spell work, and the other has no rust to shake off, and might know some magical tricks the other might not know.

maybe we could also bring inthe Hi

Not too mention the Grand enchantreess and her being both the highest religious authority in Brettonia and the most powerful mage in Brettonia who gives out weird punishments and turns people into toads. Also could we include the High Elves and Dark Elves from WHF since it would be hilarious watching a bunch if Caledorians start fangirling over all the different dragons aroud and tryin to ride them/feed them/make little stalker shrines to them

Hmmm...

Aragorn and Theoden should get along reasonably well since one, Aragorn served in his Court for a while and two, Grima never turned evil since Saruman hasn't yet, so Theoden never got influenced here.

What would you say are the odds of Sarumon becoming completely evil, seeing as he's Sauron's nieghbor, or will he end up serving in a similar roll to Gondor on Middle Earth?
