[Exalted, ?] Most High

[X] The Shining Metropolis
[X] He could find a way - He could stop mooning about like his mortal self never would have, shut up, and find a way. Little is beyond his ingenuity and skill, and if he is to reign, he will not content himself with merely reigning 'well' compared to others. He is Odyssial, and they are his - adopted - peoples. Nothing more needs to be said.

We are the Shepard, and they our Flock. They're putting our trust in us, and do we really want to be like Lethos? Uncaring of those who she crushes as she plants her roots?

We are Odyssial, and we always find a way.

[X] Subversion - If Anys wants to play the game, she'll find her enemy a more than capable foe. Cut back on administrative duties and take out loans: It's time to show her just how obstructive a Solar strategist can be. Choke the life out of her bureaucracy, mire its every action in corruption, vested interests, and red tape. The Magistracies, the only officially sanctioned checks on House power, are already weakened to the point of uselessness. Conflict and division shall rain upon the Realm, and its Immaculate Philosophy will face a hundred thousand tiny heresies. It'll be a cold day in Malfeas before she gets another cutter out to you, much less one with orders like these.

Lets get this party started.

Bitch needs to go sometime anyway, time to knock down her house of cards while we're at it.

He had the ingenuity of some Lunar sorceress to think for that

Hmm, very interesting, and it only happened 4 years ago. The fact that it was a Lunar that developed it in that time frame is a little strange, but perhaps interaction with all the new exalts popping up sparked some innovation for her. Or maybe she was just keeping it close to her chest until the most use could be gained, and the disappearance of the empress was a good choice for deployment. Who could this mysterious Lunar be I wonder?

Talomar was near his only friend in this entire nation,

He thinks of Talomar as a friend? A bit surprised about that, though I'm afraid looming disappointment is upcoming on that score.

His puported aide-de-camp seemed content to laze around doing not much of anything

This guy clearly secretly has Manipulation 5, as he's got me thinking of him as an adorable scamp rather than a useless layabout. Though I envision him as a secret Sidereal equally easily in both scenarios

He'd given the corrupt Dragon-Blooded a stay of execution

Was surprised this went through, let's hope it pays off. Else I shall be forever shamed.

The people had taken to him with a fanatical zeal that was both reassuring and bewildering

They like me? They like me!

He was not the previous general, nor the previous Satrap. He was a Solar Exalt, the full reincarnation of Odyssial, Lord Strategos of the Exalted Host, armed with the blade Ambition which had proved its wielder supreme among that Host in affairs of the sword. Trained for months by the legendary Lung Feng Zao. He had slain heroes and armies.

You're the best!
Around!
HMK: No you're not!

Anyhow going to have to think about these decisions, currently favoring Base Sentimentality, as treating them as we have been is hardly giving them a raw deal, and at the end of the day we can't solve everything. As for the second choice, I think we should strongly consider calling in Zao for this, though Sabotage is also relatively appealing.

Well, duh!

Not going to vote on the second.

Indeed, Ulyssian doesn't get out much among the common people, but you can be well-assured that his spectacular triumphs are being heralded among them. After so long under the odious threat of the Abyssals and Fae, they're beginning to have hope again, hope in the sheer impossible invincible savior that has descended upon Luseng.

But can a king rule, by salvation alone? For a time, perhaps...

You intend to do that in Grin and Bear it, it's just they're so numerous and contradictory that there's no way a DB lawyer wouldn't be able to find fault.

You guys are aware that Subversion will wreck the Realm, right? You're majorly hastening the Realm Civil War and weakening Creation as a whole, in order to stall Anys from messing with you.
Wreck creation as a whole and realm civil war,Sold.:)

Aren't that our goal in the first place? The only thing that can fight bureaucratic is bureaucratic itself afterall.

Not Raksi, if you're wondering.

But for whom? Ulyssian is... irregular, to those he considers his friends. At least if past voter behavior is any account.

Indeed, the shame of your failure will echo down the millenia, and you'll be marked with the people's derision and scorn forever.

You guys are definitely going to regret these decisions made in the heat of the moment. Why commit to saving one group of people, while condemning a hundred times more to persecution, extermination, and war?

Swords do quite well against Bureaucracies, actually! They do quite well against many things...

Perhaps... Perhaps in this fallen age not even Odyssial is immune to the monkey-sphere. Needs more Heartless Might, two doses should clear up the problem by morning.

Because these are our people, committed to us. If anyone else wishes to benefit from our rule, they simply have to declare their loyalty to us!

Somehow I think it won't be that easy for them! You can't save people halfway across the world, even if they are loyal to you!

It does look like Base Sentimentality is prevailing.

Cute, I had to double take on that to get your meaning.

Somehow I think it won't be that easy for them! You can't save people halfway across the world, even if they are loyal to you!

Yeah, think of those poor souls that have been loyally worshiping us for thousands of years, shall we abandon them just because we're infatuated with our new fling? We need to keep this relationship casual I say.

The other vote is still going on, by the way, so please update your votes if possible. It's a close match between Empire and Metropolis, though, and it'll most likely come down to arguments, so don't worry too much about it.

[x] The Shining Metropolis
I'm still in favor of this, because I dig it the most. Empire draws too much attention this early in the game, and while it's useful for building us up, it's also useful for pushing a maddened Sidereal over the edge into madness. I, personally, would like either the Polis or the Metropolis, though the Metropolis further ahead in my estimation as it starts to let us do some dynastic manipulations. We could even buff House Nellens in the local Game of Thrones!

For today's votes, as I would prefer not to end up with Heartlessness 10 again, and this has already produced a pleasant interlude that I enjoyed reading AND a bit of Limit relief, I don't think I'm going with the Base Sentimentality option. Thus I'll go with making it a priority, but not a major one.
[x] He could Try
For our response to Anys Syn's latest dickery I'm not sure which way I want to go. I think though that I'll chose the first option, primarily because it's the Spam Prophecies to benefit us directly option, and won't get Anys pissed enough to directly focus on us. I don't think Subversion is really wise, because screwing with Anys to that degree is likely going to get her to mash the MURDER EVERYTHING button pretty hard. And so, For now, I think I'll go with
[x] Grin and Bear it
I choose this primarily because I want to see Ulyssian fight the dickishness of his bureaucratic foes with the Essence of Pure Awesome and Glorious Solar Bullshit that flows through his veins. Oh? You thought it would be impossible to prosper under such circumstances? WELL WATCH THIS BRONZE FACTION STOOGES!

We explicitly strengthened Zao, we should rely on him to help us rather than sabotage the Realm.

I dunno. The vengeance faction is strong.

But how much will you bear before you bear no more? Most of those taxes were already upwards of 50%. Now they're 60%+.

[X] The Seat of Empire

A march that once started, shall stop until it reaches the very Pole of Air!

[X] Base Sentimentality

I also somewhat considered he could try, but honestly that sort of mealy-mouthed halfheartedness seems like a waste of time. As I previously mentioned, just because we don't weep with little Sally when she loses her cat and swear to make it better (the new cat has none of the... inefficiencies that made the old one so useless) doesn't mean we aren't massively improving there lives anyway.

[X] Naval Assistance

Thinking about it, we missed the window for civil war I'd say, also our relationship with Zao is a mutual one, we've done him a couple of solids, he's done us some and now we need another. Plus with the time saved by him taking care of this for us we can hopefully swing a prophecy or two his way, so he doesn't lose to much from it.

Even taxes as high as 60% shall fall in the face of the overwhelming mental capacity of the Lord Strategos!

Admittedly, I'm moderately open to the switching to royally screwing Syn over with judicious use of Prophecy Spam, she might be too busy putting out fires to trace the chaos back to Ulyssian, but I would prefer to wait for a write in of some description enhancing it before I support that option.

Why destroy the Realm before spending even a drop of Zao's influence though? Well I suppose if we want to unlock the Secret "Zao lives at the end route" this could jeopardize it. I still think it's worth the chance though.

How viable is faking our accounting and just sending her a believable large supply of jade taken from the mountain in the next shipment?

Sure we just sent her an obscene amount of money but we are drowning in it an the other resources we are short on are still here.

Viable, though it'd be a contested roll against the Realm's best auditors. And if they find something suspicious, you will get investigated. A write-in would certainly be possible, though!
