[Exalted, ?] Most High

[X] Maximum Revelry
[X] With the help of Nilul

Besides the fact that this would be hilarious beyond words, this will only strengthen Uly's cover that he had Exalted a long time ago, and was made to play the role of a mortal by Zao, poor Ulyssian wasn't allowed to drown himself in drinks, drugs, and whores as his birthright demands what with mortals not being able to handle such excesses without weakening themselves, but now that he has been set free, the Academy shall fall under the weight of his glorious repressed SolarDragon-blooded partying!

Caught up with the thread, read some clarifications.

[X] Raw Power

We, uh, need the experience. Like, badly. While hilarious shenanigans are cool and all, they shouldn't come at the expense of established character development.

POWER. Don't fight the power. Ship your oars!

Ah, we are once more caught up in the question of what exactly 'character development' means.

This would actually be a point if we weren't already established as Zao's apprentice, in more ways than one.

Ergo, cranky and anti-social. Any such attempt will be seen through and commit us to that false image. Far better for us to keep to our normal personality, we aren't made to be a social infiltrator and lie to others about such details.

Not this fucking argument again. Man... I don't wanna fight for hours over it. But I will. I will if I have to, dammit.

Training, access to memories from his past life, a more perfect, stronger, and less confused version of Odyssian, who still honors Ulyssian's intimacies and retains his most amusing traits. That's hella desirable in my book.

Are shenanigans not character development?
Shenanigans are shenanigans. I like seriousface, focused Uly. So I'm voting to develop his character in that direction. Getting caught up in a bunch of pointless honor duels and indulging in things that are, frankly, the worst aspects of the Dynasty... it just doesn't appeal that much to me?

Drunken shenanigans are character devolution, in my eyes.

Aye, but that was when they knew us as a simple, overly hardworking mortal, but then we revealed that we have been fooling everyone, even our own family all along for god knows how many years, we may have very well been pretending to be as much of a stick in the mud as Zao as well

That is not viable against people who have both known us for years and have literal superhuman social skills, even now our social skills are atrophied to the point where such a transparent lie is unlikely to hold up much.

Like it's outright sub-optimal because that places certain expectations to do inefficient things such as partying and such, when we could better use that time to train up our skills to save Creation or somesuch. There are much more efficient things we can do to advance our goals, such as train, and make sure that we're there when Moon receives the truth, because this is kind of a critical juncture in our relationship.

Laggington raises a good point. I would be all for getting a headstart on laying the groundwork for something more, had we opted to Develop Connections, but we did not. We chose to cultivate personal power and our own inner circle. In light of that, drunken honor duels are a waste of a valuable training opportunity. It's telling, that Ulyssian's first instinct is to blow this off; his instincts are usually good ones. He's honed them with extensive experience, optimized them along with every other aspect of his nature, because he needed to in order to survive in a world where everybody else can breathe fire and shit lightning.

That need for optimization has not changed; do not succumb to the illusion of safety that blankets the Realm, for it is merely that: an illusion. A mirage, quickly dispelled by cruel reality. There is every need to make the most of the time we have, especially one-off opportunities for free experience like this one. We are still playing the same game, just for higher stakes. We cannot lose focus now, simply because our foes are far away, across the sea. Instead of our arrogant classmates, we face raksha and Abyssals, and even their Deathlord masters. Complacency is a disease; Ambition, the cure.

"Hey Moon remember when Ulysian sat by your bedside when you woke up?"/Golden Years Tarnished Black
First of all, Nilul is at least ostensibly Moon's friend, so she wouldn't do that. Second of all, it is better that a beautiful memory exist, even though it risks being tarnished, than to not experience it at all. To live a joyless life, not to dare at all... that is the essence of cowardice. Perhaps it is fitting that the prospect of the Ebon Dragon's powers engenders such feelings.

Let's not forget that to train even our social skills we need XP to do so. XP we are badly hurting for right now, even from the standpoint that this is to help our social skills this falls short because to commit to any real improvement in them we need to spend XP.

Another salient point. One of the primary arguments against Developing Connections was that it expanded our focus into entirely new areas at a time when we were badly in need of focus.

The fact of the matter is that we lack the social skills to make the most of Revelry. Gaining them requires spending experience that we don't have. By contrast, we are very good indeed at acquiring Raw Power, and the option both gives us experience and the opportunity to spend it.

I did have thoughts of a write- in for us to treat the revelry as a training session but start it off with the training meditation for a few hours to train up the inner guile. But this is easier. If we wanted to and are able to flash train up attributes and non caste/favored abilities then it would have 220,000 solar xp to raise Manip to 3 and Socialize to 5 boosting our guile to 5 accounting for our specialty of realm culture. But that wouldn't have gone through.

Also since we have the combat relevant merits we have the ones to boost our toxin resistance so we can stand the initial rounds of Cynis partying at least. Hopefully we have the selective conception merit as well, otherwise Moon might get really frosty with us.

And the final. solution for all our shipping needs, we introduce everyone to Lea who will adopt those she finds worthy into her harem just like in the First Age.

We have a large amount of Solar Experience, yes, but we do not nearly have enough to do what you're suggesting, though I'd have to do some calculations to determine how short we fall. In any case, we opted to pursue the path that does not involve significant amounts of socializing, so such an investment would be of minimal use. We also kept Ambition, despite fervent argumentation on my part, and I'll be damned if we don't put it to good use by mastering its Evocations. This training opportunity is a one-off deal.

Who says a tarnished life has to be joyless?/Want Becomes Need

Indeed a tarnished life can have so much more appeal then a regular one!/Glories that Never Were

Ah mind-rape charms, for when logical arguments and being a decent human being aren't enough! This has been your daily reminder that Nilul probably has the most poisonous charm tree in the game favored.
