SMA's were all nearly mechanically broken, or required a ton of give/take from the storyteller. The first edition trio (PAoC, CMoS, and CPoC) are the most user friendly, and even then some things require talking to the boss before even attempting to learn them (not to mention essence and mote costs (especially mote costs w/o the Sidereal elder sutras).
The CMA styles are weaker, that's a function of the tier system (SMA>CMA>TMA), but there are some very strong CMA's (water or wood dragon, or I personally really like Crane for flavor) from a mechanics standpoint that I would take over learning something incredibly flavorful/cool like Obsidian Shards of Infinity, because so much of that can be nixed by a story teller (what counts as a reflective surface? is it still reflective in the dark? for the capstone - what's an appropriate moment? etc).
Sorry that's fairly offtopic and stuff but.. idk something I needed to get off my chest, or whatever.
I did mean to address this - there were examples of balanced SMAs from later on in the Edition, especially in Glories and such. Star-Crown of Morning will be a balanced SMA, but it's still SMA-tier.
With the way Evocations work, I imagine most of our Solar Experience is going to be going towards Ambition at first. Getting an early start climbing the Evocation tree, as it were. Artifact armor is nice, but we need experience to get the most out of it. Not that the passive defenses wouldn't be useful...
Eh, the duels would be distracting, just like Nilul herself. Beating on fools is suboptimal for training purposes.
But she's so endearingly distracting! Also, you would benefit from Artifact Armor's stats.
For a certain value of endearing...
He lose to an higher power.
Solar Odyssial and Nilul parties is too much.
Are you... a Nilul shipper?
