[X] Plan Mellow

Cultivation could just be controlled Chaos warpcraft... or it could be that Chaos = demonic cultivation.

I introduce another thought.

Yon is, currently, almost certainly a virgin.

He first met Lady Va at the age of 16. That sent him to the hospital, and he was already a boytoy in good standing when he emerged... and has more or less been serving in the role ever since, with occasional interruptions. He had decent prospects for an Inner, yes, but they were entirely predicated on the pleasure of Lady Va. That's not the sort of thing that would serve well to entice any other young woman of his station to wish to spend that sort of time with him. He would have known better as well.

I guarantee you that the role of "boytoy" comes with a strong implicit requirement that you not court anyone other than your patron... and past that, theirs was a world where virginity was valued. So... we know that Lady Va wasn't taking it that far with him. None of the women who were his peers would have wanted to incur her displeasure. Finally, while he did have enough power that he could have abused it so as to sleep with a mortal, Yon has a distaste for that kind of abuse of power.

So Yon's a virgin, and this is the starter bar. It's the one that we've been specifically told has the lower-quality whores in it. If Yon loses his V-card on his first night on the town, under the approving eye of his NCOIC? You know? That's an okay thing. That's the kind of thing that happens sometimes. For me, though, if he's going to give up his virginity tonight, I'd at least like it to be with one of the good whores. I'd like for him to have at least that much respect for it.

IIRC the traditional cultivation term for a man's virginity is his 'primal yang,' or at least it is one translation of such a term. Retaining it can be relevant for cultivators whose cultivation focuses heavily on the yang, such as in the case of dual cultivation with a yin-focused partner.

Dual cultivation might soon become one of the only sources of good resources for recruits, if the celestial don't provide, that's and demonic stuff.

I possible, I rather we not stick our dick into people we don't know and trust. I'm all for mingling and partaking in whatever vices they have on hand except for that one. A lot of ways we can get fucked over with that one.

I hate to break it to you, but Yon's version of xianxia pretty much runs entirely on "demonic stuff", one way or another.

This is actually incredibly pertinent for any effort to jump ship from the Chaos Legions. In addition to all of the cultural upbringing issues, Yon is both notably mutated (even if it's not necessarily all that visible) and heavily chaos-tainted (in a very controlled way). That's not going to change. He also prefers to hang out in areas where the warp energies are strong enough that spontaneous mutations are common. Any 40K group we might wish to join would have to be okay with that. That's... not a long list.

[X] Do small amounts of drugs and drink--using the kinds of tricks where you seem like you're doing more than you actually are--and try to talk to people--make it seem like flirting if that's what's needed--and otherwise scope out the joint without looking like one of those people who isn't willing to go along with this.
-[X]Try and find out if any of the food or drink here has any spiritual value.
-[X] Be willing to seize some opportunities. If someone seems particularly interesting, whether for sexual or social or information purposes, feel free to go with them in private... and if it's for the latter two, Yon can always play it up later as sex. And if it's for the former, well, have fun, practice safe sex?

I'm inclined to look like we are temptable with vices without indulging beyond our durability. It helps manage the attack vectors

When I say demonic stuff, i mean cultivation through eating or torturing other humans in various ways.
Ah. Okay, yeah. That's bad, and we want to avoid it.

In context, though, that might actually be the least literally demonic way for Yon to cultivate.

Beyond that, I'm pretty sure we have at least three kinds of things that Yon can cultivate from.

- Areas high in warp energy
- Stuff that grows and/or lives in areas high in warp energy
- Beasts of any sort that are throwing around magical powers.

There may be other sources as well.

Also what is the point of trying to appear like we are more effected by minor amounts of drugs when our huge tolerance is a known factor? More likely in that case they will look at us weird and then basically call us a huge pussy/buzz kil and pressure us to do more anyhow. Just do a bunch of lines and shots to kick stuff off and get a buzz going, Yon will be fine. Fundamentally part of why we were invited is that they like the cut of our jib and want to see what it takes for us to get hammered, we should not be shying away from this if we want to control our level of consumption.

[X] Plan Suck Up
- [x] Drink the same drinks and snort the same lines as your boss. Try to avoid practical jokes you know they'll try to play on you, but don't be a buzzkill.

I also like plan Mellow because it, like...it has Yon portray a character that I think he'll be better at maintaining, especially if he can drum up some actual interest in the bartender's mixology.

[x] Plan Mellow
-[x] Ask the bartender for a drinks menu, and spend some real quality time reading it, looking for interesting things. Ask pertinent questions about what the drinks are, how they are made, where their ingredients come from, and so forth. Try to fit that all into your understanding of alchemy, if applicable. Try a few of the more interesting-sounding ones, using Iron Kettle Belly to both get the most benefit you can out of them and manage any negative side effects. Do not be afraid to decide that something "is not to your taste" if it seems like it's going to do thngs to you that you'd really rather not experience. Don't let yourself get significantly impaired.
-[x] Spend a bit of time watching dancers gyrate, far enough back that you won't harsh the buzz of any of the really frenzied onlookers. Relax a little. It's important not to screw things up, but this is an opportunity to relax, and your superior may take it poorly if you refuse to. If you can get into any interesting conversations with others who are similarly inclined, all to the better. Be amiable, and let them do most of the talking.

I do wonder if part of how cultivator world works out is because they lean towards the less bonkers excessive aspects of the chaos gods - less blood sport and more obsession with honor, resiliency over disease, aiming for a specific form of perfection, etc.

IoM navy or rogue trader would be just fine. Basically any IoM starship because they are constantly being immersed into the Warp, and the gellar fields are notoriously leaky so warp-engines canonically do accumulate on ships.

Creating an innocent reminder for how Yon was in fact a skilled nerd before the recruitment should be beneficial. The drink selection also sounds like fun informative worldbuilding.

I thought you guys were meme'ing at first, but damn. We really are in 40K? This is a decidedly weird crossover
