To the Celestials, we are no different from Mortals. Throw Mortals at problems until they go away is their go to answer for everything.

We go to the Tower, the Old Monster slaps us to death, nobody misses us and the Celestials send more Mortals. We are replaceable.

Edit: Reading through other comments, I suspect the local chaos pawn is the demon lord that rules the world, and he got killed by the hero.

The world is now celebrating, and we're about to land, assault everything, and install a new demon lord.

And perhaps this hero is an average schmuck from another world, who got knocked into a spontaneous warp portal by some sort of large ground vehicle, who defeated the demon king with a combination of strangely applicable life skills from his old world and an apparently innocuous blessing he picked up in his warp transit

Conversely, they were an average schmuck from another world that the Chaos gods decided to have some shits and giggles with.

... The world was called Neo Tokyo for bonus points.

    • Don't be ridiculous, it's pseudoeuropean medieval fantasy pastiche with portal worlds. Obviously it's gonna be Dragon Warrior Monsters, not Pokemon :V

    So I see we have gone with Monster Hunter over Tower of God (sort of anyway, that one is the least Obvious Ripodd/pastiche), Danmachi, or Made in Abyss (seriously, Orthon).

    Nah, just kidding.
