It's funny that he kinda did what canon Word Bearers did lol. Amalgamated with a Daemon.

Just thinking of a skeleton of a strategy against the Covenant

  • Lorgar uses Malum Caedo as an example to the approaching chaos warrior army that if they want true power they don't need to sell themselves to the Chaos Gods and tries to persuade as many of them as possible to defect and become the first generation of Colchis born space marines, and we kill the rest.
  • Lorgar and Malum Cedo use Truth Faith to redeem the defectors.
  • We see if we can learn from Malum Cedo's experience to develop a better process to swiftly transform the ex-chaos warriors into space marines.
  • We grant both Lorgar and Malum Caedo the five dot Shapechange mutation for adopting human or Primarch forms.
  • Lorgar purchases Clark Kenting
  • Thalassa modifies the relic power armour so 'Lorgar' can use it
  • Lorgar infiltrates the Covenant's slaves shapechanged to be disguised as a regular human to lay the ground for them to rebel at a critical moment
  • Malum Caedo leads our forces wearing Lorgar's form, hopefully including some of his redeemed followers, to take the war to the Covenant
  • We use CCP to shape the Wound and produce the foundations for the logistical, industrial and population base required to fight a world spanning theocracy.
  • Thalassa builds gear for our forces, particularly power armour for any new space marines we make.

Any thoughts?

Also do not forget his human Aspect when looking for synergies. Not just his true name.

Good night all. Will post when I wake up.

Also do not forget his human Aspect when looking for synergies. Not just his true name.

So, he's a Rebel (with a cause). His name means 'I Kill Evil'

When it comes to Mythos, we need to maximise the useful opportunities when two or three of his Mythos aspects are active.

Remember, having a single active aspect does nothing. We need at least two for it to matter.

I don't think there are many scenarios when, say, Rebel, Rebirth, and Speed all trigger. I find it hard to see many scenarios for a physical demigod where rebirth triggers, as he doesn't get Mythos powers that might allow actual reincarnation.

By contrast, Rebel, Purge, and Destruction would come into play a lot when you're a Physical focused Demigod fighting first the Covenant and then other Tyrants of the Old Night the Great Crusade should be fighting.

Purge and Power? That seems to have the strongest synergy with his name.
[X] Plan: He kills Evil

His name is about killing evil, so it fits, he's a physical focused demigod, and this should synergise very nicely with Rebel when fighting tyrants like the Covenant. Holy purging and destructive light are something that should pair very well together in combat. We just give him consecrated laser weapons. As a side note, not-light sabres exist in 40K, so this works for melee as well.

He's also maximum contrast to Lorgar, allowing the pair of them together to cover the most options. We're talking about a demigod, a strategic level asset here. We can basically get our own friendly mini-Leman Russ here if we're careful to maximise synergies.

Demigods are incredibly swingy in power depending on whether and how many aspects apply. We need to really be careful to make sure that there are synergies as without synergies a mythos aspect on its own does nothing.

whats the difference between the retribution and judgment aspects?

Retribution is personal, based on harms done to you and yours. Justice is impersonal.

Just to reinforce my point above about how absolutely critical is, look at the rules for how a Mythos works

Mythos: So long as he is performing something related to an Aspect of all 3 Archetypes of his Mythos, successes from rolls of all action gain a (x8), for an Aspect related to at least two Archetypes of his Mythos, successes from rolls of all action gain a (x6) and for all actions not related to his Mythos successes from rolls of all action gain a (x4).

Three Archetypes: +x4 multiplier compared to base
Two Archetypes: +x2 multiplier compared to base
One Archetype: No effect at all

Note this is a big limitation, as he only has one aspect for each of his archetypes, making him much, much less flexible than Lorgar. That means we need to be much more careful now

@DragonParadox, I do like the idea of Rebirth, but it may be that I'm missing something and you see lots of scenarios where we'll be making Physical rolls where Rebirth, Speed, and Rebel all apply, or at least two of them apply? I can't really see many scenarios where he'd be making a physical roll and rebirth would apply as he can't get Mythos powers. If he could things would be different, but as is…

It seems that in the scenarios we face (war and more war, something like the combination of Purge, Destruction, and Rebel would be more likely to have multiple archetypes trigger on Physical rolls, as he's a Physical primary demigod.

While the rebirth build is nice I feel like Purge and destruction can lead to the ability of granting demons true death.

Hm, @Yzarc, out of curiosity, what could have been the possible successful outcomes if Dharok had chosen to leap into the rift or call upon Lorgar's light?

One does not regret the Aspects that Lorgar developed for the Holy Archetype, but it is most interesting to speculate upon what could have been if he had developed the Rebirth or Redemption Aspects.

As for Lorgar's Light Archetype, hm, given that Lorgar's primary and secondary focuses are Social and Mental in nature, perhaps there are some more abstract and metaphorical Aspects of Light awaiting Lorgar.

[X] Plan: Pheonix from the Ashes

BTW, if our legionaries get an Enuncia-using subfaction, like techmarines or psykers - we totally should call them Librarians.

And then stare in disapproval at any and all attempts to use the name without having magic language powers.

This is a possibility that I think Lorgar might have been able to realise if he had those aspects.

Sadly, we've been told that Malum Caedo can't get Mythos powers. All he has is the base successes multiplier when using two or more of his Archetypes:

He is a Physical Primary and Social Secondary. He cannot develop any Mythos powers and is boosted physically, unlike Lorgar and suffers no penalties in any Physical actions as part of his specialization power.

This is why I think the Rebirth build isn't very effective, as he can't develop a Mythos power based on Rebirth, and I don't see how a Physical focused demigod will be able to apply the Rebirth aspect of the Holy archetype along with with either the Speed of Light or the Rebel Human to any rolls he need to make.

I just can't see what scenarios that he'd encounter with any regularity where it would apply, given it has to be a roll he could otherwise make with his abilities. Without a Mythos power he can't just spontaneously be reborn.

This is particularly important as he's a physical demigod, so the physical success multiplier from equipment stacks when it doesn't for Lorgar, so if we choose a combination of Archetypes that two or more of regularly trigger in combat he can get a massive multiplier, and so possibly be competitive with more martial Primarchs, which would be incredibly useful for us.
