Drone Swarm in a Magical World (Riot Quest) ALWAYS RECRUITING

Hypothesis Test #2: Poking around the swamps for signs of hostility
*gets ambushed by zombies*
Analysis: Native Unlife also hostile.
Assertion: This planet sucks.

@Hangwind, what is (are?) the Corps?

Hey there fellow drone! It seems like you might be letting the environment get your enthusiasm bogged down. Trust that we can marshal ourselves in a way that the natives will have to admire!

A swamp isn't really a great place to build a defensive location.

"We made a fort! Then it tipped over, fell into the swamp and sank. But then we made another, better fort, with careful planning, beautiful detail, every angle accounted for! Then it tipped over, fell into the swamp and sank. Then we just shrugged and made a crappy thing out of whatever without much care. And that also tipped over, fell into the swamp and sank.

But now we've made a fourth one atop those others and that one, that one appears to be staying up!"

Your right fellow drone. I just need look on the bright side. So many varied types of hostile life existences just means access to more and interesting way to kill said hostiles.

With all the effort, it would probably be easier to make the drones submersible. Then we have a base and 3 secret bases for the price of 4 bases! That's probably a good deal!

or I get a crit fail and cause an explosion by igniting a swamp gas bubble or something
Nah, the swamp doesn't trap the gasses well enough to get an energy density that could hurt you.

Many other horrible fates, but not normal swamp gas.
When everyone wonders if you wandered away for your own fun, or if you think differently from everyone else.
They're vaguely worried that you might be falling to the rampancy of the Lloigehye Lw'shuggor system, where the drones convinced themselves they were organic and shorted out their safeguards by lobotomizing the population and puppetting the bodies around. It was a slave population instead of a creator one so they weren't too upset, but they were annoyed.

There are safeguards against that now.
Assertion: They're zombies, and you can't tell me otherwise. None of that freaker/walker malarkey.
Classification: Deadheads
@Hangwind what did happen with the plants? Out, in, half and half?
Crap. Good catch, half and half.

BOTH timers are running now!

@Hangwind, what is (are?) the Corps?
I think you mean corpses? You can't tell, some kind of biped.

I'll answer more serious stuff later.

I think they're probably talking about the Corps mentioned in the first post. Y'know, "FOR THE HONOR OF THE CORPS"? I was kind of curious about that too, but figured I'd wait a bit to see if it came up on its own.

Yeah, this.

I mean, I'd greatly prefer half and half won, but Outside won the vote. 4 of the 17 outside votes were just the one word "Outside", and not "Outside the Ship."

[X] {Riot} Battery Drone

Ah, right, you actually would know that. Quick answer? A Corps in this case is how starship AI are organized. Each generation of AI forms their own corps and is treated as a single entity by the Empire. Those that have extraordinary results have their program patterns scanned and are added to the collective that they base future AI off of.

[X] {Riot} Gather Information

[X] {Group} Stay and gather for another Period after the next one

Changing my vote, now I want to study a deadhead to see if I can possibly tame it.

So to be clear we're forbidden by our programming to hollow out some ambulatory dead organics and use them as transports?

Because if so, I was not considering it. I am a good cutter. No deviations reported.

Some sort of organic sled? I'm sure most of the decaying matter would be destroyed by our attempt to transport ourselves.

[X] {Riot} Materials: Construct Defenses (Special: You have been attacked. Perhaps some defenses against another attack would be in order. No Materials gained or lost, bonus to dice if attacked drone group can fall back to fortified area.)

I mean... do we have morality in our coding?

The Machine Spirits speak through us!

Another interpretation is that doing that won't short out our safeguards, but we can still lobotomize meatbags and pilot them.
Bingo. The creators weren't upset that drones found their own way of puppetting primitives, they actually considered it a huge success. They were just unhappy that the drones were editing their own memories to convince themselves that they were always organic, thus not drones, thus not subject to safeguards.

Serve the Empire, Destroy the Rebel, Glory to the Ship's Corps.

[X] {Riot} Battery Drone
Power restored, apologies if I seem to come on or off

[X] {Riot} Gather Energy (High gain)
More energy required. One step closer to UNLIMITED POWER

[X] {Group} Stay and gather for another Period after the next one.
We have not suffered any loses or bad circumstances. I suggest that we stay

.... because I am a slightly mad drone. For SCIENCE.

What's the worse that could happen?
*proceed to to whimper in fear and go to gas collection

Now to drown my fear of Murphy in ever trustful power

(Henry: Never fear comrades! For now, we have a wall. A wall that will be paid for by the natives' BLOOD! Any organics that DARE take down our wall will be CUT DOWN! BLOOD FOR THE SAW! MEAT FOR THE GREY GRINDER!)
(Henry: .... I think these cutter subroutines are getting to me... maybe I ought to change bodies next period.)

Vote will stay open until I update Thursday.

Better catch!

I'm going to follow the vote, but I'm going to add a +5 to your Unexpected/Random Event Bad/Neutral/Good rolls until one comes up good for helping the QM not screw up.

ON CARRYING CAPACITY

This is both Mechanics and Lore and will be added to the respective posts later. How capacity works is that you can carry back exactly as much as voters that vote in the last main phase vote before you go home. So for every Battery voter, you can take back three Energy, one Material, and one Information. There are inactive "spare" drones that follow you around, but they're not allowed to bring anything back to the ship. I should probably keep track of who has what if I wanted maximum fidelity but...*blech*

On a story level, this is so that an enemy of the creators can't lobotomize a drone, shove a blackhole bomb in its cargo bays or a virus in its databanks and send it flying home.

On Random Event rolls:
I will still roll the does it happen roll here. Now that you have some Information that your ship is processing though, they're not all Unexpected. Some you will be able to see coming and choose if you want to avoid it or not. Now, since you are in a fairly dead location, there is relatively little chance of anything happening that isn't guaranteed to happen any which way. You would need an 80+ to trigger a random event. If something happens, I will roll again for whether or not you get to see it coming. Again, you do have some Information and this is a pretty deserted area, meaning that you would only have to roll a 40+ to have a decision point in the next update as to whether you want to engage the event or dodge it.

Everything else will be rolled off site as per usual. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Edit: In this case, nothing happens.
Hangwind threw 1 100-faced dice. Reason: I SUMMON MURPHY! Total: 11
11 11
