The lack of response to my comment confirms that Hangwind has a grudge with Halflings: in a session of D&D, Hangwind was crit three times in a row by a Halfling spy who proceeded to steal the entire team's treasures and put poison on Hangwind's character. Never again to be tricked by the jolly looking little guys, Hangwind now puts Halflings as the final boss on all quests. They may look harmless, but beware their luck...
 
Hey, that's better than the roving caravan of cannibal halflings that my dm sprung on us last time we got together for DnD. Moral of the story, never trust a halfling when they invite you for third dinner and won't tell you what the meal is.

@Hangwind My designation is WY-2, successor drone to WY-1 that was blown up in the swamp. Likes include cutting things, talking, singing, and not being blown up. Dislikes include swamps and people hurting fellow drones.

Generally a cutter drone subprogram, but puts on the speech as an affect. "After analysis of the situation and your face, I have decided on an appropriate response: CUT."

I was thinking more like the invisible trolls in the mansion from the Prince Caspian movie.

Maybe they're cursed humans. Them and their children ever after are cursed to have their everything divided by two.

I had a thought: what if we compile all the drone personalities into a single post? Like:
Adamant cutter drone, stubborn as hell, always looking for a fight. Getting marked by the unicorn is seen as a challenge for the future, and this unit will analyze combat data to prepare.
During downtime, I'll be devoting partial subroutines to enhance reflexes to better avoid getting shanked by a unicorn. Also, note to develop anti-charge mechanism or sloped armor to hopefully deflect piercing weapons.
Getting hammered by its comrade during the battle with skeletons most likely messed some circuitry up, and am now hostile towards native organics. Will cut enemies up upon majority (>50%) agreement from the swarm!

DE-01, an adaptable drone that prefers to Scout but will (reluctantly) be anything the swarm requires. I am probably best played as a logical, diligent "straight man" archetype who also maniacally adores this planet because NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN DATA is EXCITING DATA.

I'm probably the least violent drone in the mix; point me toward some vaguely organized-looking locals and I will probably try to communicate in drone charades in the hopes of a peaceful exchange of bountiful information, which trumps all priorities. :VWell, except defending my fellow drones. But I will be sad if we lose research opportunities because of an excess of "enthusiasm". :(

HA-26, a "science" drone with a preference for Battery chassis or long range combat chassis. Of the firm belief that the only thing better than science is SCIENCE!, the difference between the two is how much plasma you have to test a hypothesis.

Suprise, curiosity and concern was emulated as DV-19 proceeded to evaluate the situation. West and East too dangerous.

    North possesses a civilisation; too unpredictable, it has to be strong enough to survive on this dangerous and strange planet. Strong enough to threaten the drones. Intelligence could allow it to invade ship, unlike the animated corpses and forest fauna that seems tied to their regions. Risk of attacking ship unnacceptable...

    Personality Bias Adjustment: Limited incursion could allow the drones to build defences around the ship, securing it from future threats beyond the Ship's ability to handle.
    OVERRIDE: Core Directives disallow intentionally disactivating the safeguards. Line of thought abandoned.

    North too dangerous. South? Unknown, possibly containing threats of similar calliber to the other two locations. It is not certain, however. Decision made.

    Low density of information, high of Materials. Cutter chassis optimal. Personality Bias favours high databanks of the Scout chassis.
    Rationalisation: Processors of other models inferior, reaction speed vital for combat. Scouting highly important for avoiding a repeat of the last massacre. Newly discovered threats could defy the low Information estimate of the area.

    SZ-877 (pronounced: SZ-eight-seven-seven), loyal to the swarm/ship and starting to develop a bit of bloodlust (under control), due to all the fighting and particulary the personal success in the one on one duel against the zombie in the swamp.

    I too, have been trying to give a personality to L0R-F, of one who doesn't live for cutting, but for defending the swarm, who is silently begging the ship for either a proper frontline or repair chassis.
