Don't Miss Your Deadline! (Manga Editor Quest)

[X] Refuse Suzuki's request, but agree to take on the same workload as the rest of the editorial team (take charge of 5 series rather than 4)

We have a rapport with our mangakas, and we gotta be a bro to our coworkers.

While I feel Space Racer Subaru-kun could be freaking amazing in the hands of a better editor, I'm too selfish to want to give it up. I'm not as attached to Ninja Sensei, and Mama Bear will be happy (or less displeased) to hear her son is working with the best editor the Sunday Star has.

I'm sympathetic to the mangaka and his situation, but I don't have any high hopes for this in the long run considering he has no long-term plan and his passion seems more just making manga and jokes than the actual story. If he can't be bothered to do any research about Ramen and doesn't give a crap about it, literally one half of our main premise, does this really have any hopes of being even a cult classic?

...cult classic? you're aiming a bit high there

Our objective with ALL of our manga isn't really to make a classic. Right now we're just aiming for "reach chapter 10", and MAYBE for "get a hit".

and get a hit just means "publish it outside of the magazine".

the "do your research" speech is something WE should have pushed him to do... and we probably would have, if we weren't about to drop him.

Still, this works for the both of us. We get a more experienced mangaka, and he gets a more experienced editor. we both win, and in the future we might actually get him back anyway

I like the challenge of turning Ninja into something that stands on its own, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to lose it.

It could be interesting, though I think the increased workload, having to support and network with our coworkers (John and Shion need help, if for completely different reasons) and everything else will take enough of our time.

We still have to complete our research actions, among other things, to further raise our editor points and suggestions available

...what? Most of our series will be axed before they reach 5 chapters anyways, I'd like the most promising one to be the one that gets the attention of an expert it deserves!

Let's be honest Tana hearth isn't actually in it.

The racing which should be the main plot is actually a excuse for exploring the setting which seems to also have been the problem with her past series.

She would work better with a wandering merchant/Vagabond/treasure hunter type of character/story where half the plot is exploring the setting.

If the quest works that way, we could pitch a Spice&Wolf-like manga to her.
I don't think we will be allowed for the same reason the QM doesn't want us to give manga ideas. Maybe we could point her in that direction but I doubt we can pitch anything specific or do something beyond giving her a few examples to take inspiration from.
