Deedeequest or The Wonders of Mundus: Be Careful Who You Pretend To Be - A Genderous Isekai Quest

How Dice Rolls Work
Character sheet is here.

Dice rolls are 1d10 + Stat + Proficiency + any applicable bonuses, such as Boons.

You may spend 3 Tension to Overdrive for a retroactive +5 to your roll (a Determination Overdrive), or +3 to an ally's roll (a Teamwork Overdrive). I will also automatically overdrive to avoid exhaustion or unconsciousness.

It is possible to critically succeed (on +5 on skill checks and +10 on combat rolls) or critically fail (by the same margins), but rolling a 1 or a 10 does not automatically crit in either case. It is possible to crit retroactively by Overdriving.

Your stat bonuses have names:
  • Vigor grants a Strength bonus.
  • Agility grants a Dexterity bonus.
  • Spirit grants an Aura bonus.
  • Mind grants an Intuition bonus.
  • Resolve grants a Guts bonus.
Dice are rolled on a first come, first serve bonus. You only roll for Deedee.

[A character from a mutually-non-canon crossover intensifies]

But seriously, strategy-wise... Given the Empathy check, we want to set Sekhmet up with the best conditions we can.

In my book, that means either go loud for a straight-up join-the-squad - or going loud so they can slip off.

I am inclined to agree, especially since our current party doesn't seem especially stealthy, at least compared to how much we can probably dish out in a straight up fight. Also going in loud let's us be knights in shining armor and who doesn't love a little bombast? We're all hot and fit and in a fantasy world now let's have some fun with it!
(though not dying takes priority!)

I love that our smol potato friend is there for us, even if Deedee is unable or unwilling to recognize the need.

[X] Come in hot, ready for a fight.

We have a LOLzerker, a tactical nuclear potato, a tank, and a monk. Subtle we ain't.

[X] Make some noise and let Sekhmet slip away.
We don't need to get into a full-on fight, just enough to let Sekhmet get away so we can regroup.

Right now you trusted it wouldn't be unkind. Even if you didn't have him at your mercy, Hikaru would try to be... charitable, at least? And it was nice, being able to do this for him.

To heal him. That's what you mean.

You finished his back and he rolled over, very deliberate with where he placed his wings.

...He had abs.

Shitty, Vigor 1 abs, but you weren't really expecting a pixie to look like an... adult. Maybe you should have? It's not helping you deal with being twentysomething and in better shape than you'd ever been.

Somehow you do not say that aloud, panic, or stare: you just do what you need to do for his wounds and healing.
Oh no, he's a hot potato.

So, just as an example of how inspired team OWTB is by y'all right now?

I tried to goof around coming up with, uh, realistic usernames for some of the characters.

Now Bii and I have spent a couple hours on the backstory of Weedlord Scorofscorsanscore, Ubasti Alchemist. And that of his impulse control, Intrusive Tot, Pixie Psychic.

We're living for this, and thank you.

I've found that my true calling is to create people who while not bad guys also exist to drive the isekrew crazy. I already created Thea Gany, Eithyr Illusionist, as a pain in the ass to Sekhmet. Weedlord and Intrusive are going to be Hikaru's headaches.

Now to figure out who to drive Alesha nuts with...

That's the party's job.

Also, may as well talk about the Namers, since this is the first time that the name "Eithyr" got dropped:

"Namer" is the preferred term for the people of Mundus, as a whole. While humanity - formally, the "Andrax" - are definitely on top, having formed the Omphalan and the Zhonguo Empires which proceeded to take over most of the West and the East respectively, the rights and freedoms of the other Namer species in those empires and what now remains of them is a matter of longstanding legal and cultural precident.

As is the tendency for humanocentrism, unfortunately.

Player character races include the Andrax, and:
  • The Koboldt, who are draconians hailing from the mountainous north, and hit on many of the same tropes that dwarves would in tolkienic fantasy,
  • The Pixies, a small and insect-winged species of magically inclined half-fae, like Hikaru,
  • The Ubastim, like Sekhmet, a very visibly 'furry' species of anthropomophic cats originally from the southeastern deserts near what is now Al'qebulan,
  • The Vulpecians, like Deedee, who are foxlike, gracile and agile but can with effort pass for human;
  • And the Eithyr, living elemental flows bound to an array of floating projector crystals who form humanoid, horned bodies around them.
There are more than these - orcs and goblins exist in this universe - but these account for most of the playerbase.

Given the sheer number of these who are some kind of anthropomorphic animal compared to the rest (cheeky estimates say 3.5 out of six, counting the Pixies as the half because of the insect theming on their wings), a lot of players abbreviate the name Another World Online as "AWOo." The devteam also privately called it that and finds this hilarious.

[X] Those who can be stealthy, scout ahead before the strike.

With cat-like tread (sorry Sekh) Upon our prey we steal
In silent dread, Our cautious way we feel.

[X] Those who can be stealthy, scout ahead before the strike.

As much as I love the nuclear option, I'd like to at least try this first. Even if they fail at stealth, they might get info they wouldn't have otherwise had before the fight. Never underestimate the value of reconnaissance. I feel like coming in hot is something that can wait until everyone's more familiar with their bodies (heh) and have proven they can level up without dying.

[X] Make some noise and let Sekhmet slip away.

Like someone said a few pages back, it's like the scouting plan, but playing more to this party's strengths - Deedee and Hikaru might be able to pull off some stealth moves (oh my god I just realised why the monk/tactical nuclear potato double act is so familiar, how did I not spot that seven dawns ago <3 ) but neither of them's specialised and it could go badly for them if it breaks bad and they get caught away from the party; but paladin + wizard + berserker is an excellent recipe for making a lot of noise, they can probably disengage without too much trouble if they're planning it, and that sets up for the stealth specialist to use stealth.

(Group's well suited to going in hot but that feels like a less close fit to the objective?)
