Death World creature quest

Nahi, we need some blushes on that. Apart from that, it looks great! Also, will we restart the whole thing or continue? This is one of the rare fics where I almost completely forgot what happened.

What i'll do is upload one more chapter onto this thread (Since it contains old paper based images from earlier). Then, i'll start a new thread and continue from there onward.

Investigation free action:

[X] Investigate the creature

You can tell immediately upon looking at this creature that it's designed to catch aquatic prey, and that this translates over to underground creatures as well. You're lucky that it's eyesight appears to be underdeveloped, else you'd really be starting to worry at this point.

[X] Investigate surroundings.

Everything above ground is the same as before, barring the new arrival.

---

[x] Flee your position leaving the meat behind.
-[x] Do so by tunnelling above the water level that the pit we have created has made.
-[x] Aim tunnel for a tree we can bore into.

Deciding to cut your losses and escape whilst you still can, you abandon your tasty, tasty morsels and attack the wall with desperate thrusts of your wiggly body. You wiggle so hard and fast in fact, that you immediately begin to excavate a hallway.

Meanwhile, you sense a new challenger approach, likely drawn out of hiding by the lobster thing that had just arrived. It's long and sinuous, with a grin that you just don't like. Already, you wish you could eat it, but alas, this thing is far out of your weight class for now.

With eyes locked on it's apparent opponent, it darts forward with extreme speed and confronts the monster crustacean. Watching them square up to each other is simultaneously awe inspiring and intimidating, two biological killing machines about to clash above your head. For a second, you ponder the strength of your soil, before banishing the thought - You'll deal with that when it needs dealing with.

In a flash, they both cross the clearing and collide powerfully with each other, the shock-wave alone enough to dislodge your footing.

A wound!

Though you wish you could observe more of their battle, you have more important things to worry about. The water is rising much faster than you anticipated, encroaching just as quickly as you can escape it. You're still safe from it for now, but if the rainfall increases in pace any further, you just might become trapped!

The soft vibration of an impact lets you know that the serpent thing's torn-off flesh has landed, directly above your hiding place by the sounds of things.

[X] Dig upward towards the flesh and take a bite.
[X] Continue towards the tree without pausing.
[X] Emerge from the ground before you become trapped.
[X] Write in.

This update took me nine hours of constant work to complete (I counted), which means that it's impossible for me to update the quest every day. As a result, updates will come out as soon as i can complete all the pictures, which will likely be between two and seven days of work (Most likely two or three).

Worth pointing out that we're actually sort-of safe from the water now - we have an air bubble trapped with us. As we dig, assuming that we aren't outright destroying the earth (in which case, the vacuum will suck the water up after us) it shouldn't follow us any further.

EDIT: Well, so long as the wall to the right keeping the water out doesn't collapse, at least.

Oh yes, voting. We're probably safe from the predators in the short term - whoever wins this fight will have a much bigger meal available.

Maybe if we're lucky, we can develop in a way that makes water less of an issue? Some vaguely aquatic features, without penalising land-based activity, would be ideal. It might be overspecialising for a short-term problem, but it's looking like we'll be developing and grabbing a whole bunch of different features as we go on, so being able to hold our breath for a long time or something might be nice to get without really losing anything else.

Of course, if we're going to get much bigger very quickly, this is both much less pressing and much less useful.

I'm assuming we'll keep underground. Hopefully the action is only a bite, we kinda need to leave the meat of the thing up there, if only due to the water.
