Death World creature quest

I tried to warn you that he was good at analysis when it involved animals when provided a picture.
I'm going to take this as a compliment. I might never have gone into a formal school to learn biology, but I figure over a decade of independent studies and learnings would have to get me somewhere. I could never really stand blood in a medical sense, so I wouldn't have been able to get too far in a formal school anyway. Learning via observation, reading, and documentaries has served me pretty well I think.
That was awesome and pretty much correct on all counts. If i didn't know better i'd be concerned you'd somehow read my notes haha.

As a reward, have an early update.
Anyways, sweet. looking forward to it.

Well animalkrazed I can tell this is gonna be fun now that's your here. So tell me though what do u think about our plan to try to do some kind of queen ant deal.

[x] burrow up to chunks and drag them down from beneath eat them in safety before other scavengers show up.

Now that all the scary predators are gone, you decide to capitalise by stealing some meat! Using your powerful little leg muscles, you tunnel upwards towards the main battlefield, intent on stealing some food before scavengers arrive.

At last, tasty goodies are in your grasp!

With a hefty tug, you bring the meat further underground.

Distracted as you are by the food you are busy dragging, you almost miss the arrival of a newcomer - It looks like some kind of wormy thing with a puckered mouth-part, intent on stealing the food lying around you.

Well, you definitely aren't happy with them at all!

In fact, you feel a sudden raging urge to fight them, and wipe that smug look from it's... face. Only
you are allowed to steal this food from that weird toad creature!!

[X] Abandon the food and attack!
[X] Continue dragging the food.
[X] Write in.

said they were monsters a tier above us so NOPE! for all we know that thing spits acid.

[X]Continue dragging the food in but leave a portion out to satisy and predators.
-[x] eat any bits that fall off while we drag further in.

Just drag the food for now no need to fight. Plus the big guys are coming if we are caught in a fight when they show up we're screwed.

No visible legs, probably attempts fast movement akin to the Sidewinder of Africa. Puckered mouth = hidden fang-type weaponry, possible glue lasso of Velvet Worm I mentioned earlier today. Pointy tapered tail = potential stinger, a possibility due to upheld tail end signifying some significance. Potential for flesh corrosive saliva as digestion aid/self defense. Possible venom of some kind in the stinger, if has such. Lines around 'neck' section of worm possibly lack significance, but also may signify pores of some kind. May leak self-defense fluids/poisons of one kind or another in manner like that of American toads (examples of such beings include cane toads and their infamous hallucinogenic properties).

Best plan of attack, if we attack, is to burrow underneath and attack a middle section of the critter as it attempts to feed on one of the other portions of meat. Deal serious damage quickly, then drag into burrow midsection first so it is unable to retaliate without dealing more damage to self.
I'd advise we don't get too greedy. Drag our portion just a little further into the den and begin our feast on it. Let the worm deal with the incoming threats, see how it acts and responds, learn more about it to not be taken by surprise. With the worm out there, the incoming opponents will fixate on what is more easily available before them rather than what is hidden away. I don't want to drag it all the way in because then the blood/scent trail leads to us more so then it already does. IF even one of the incoming opponents gets the will to dig us out, we are goners. Ply them with that little bit sticking out, and the thrill of fighting wormy and we will be safe.

HOWEVER, IF we manage to kill this being, (should we go for it) we NEED to dispose of body swiftly in one manner or other. Leave body out, and we let incoming opponents now of our presence. If we drag it into tunnel, the collective stank of the meats may alert the incoming opponents of our presence, if one has sufficent sense of smell. If we kill it, I advise shredding it to make it look like it was killed during the fight itself before retreating. I don't want to attack it now because that signifies a heightened aggression factor in our critter and that could be detrimental at this stage.

[X] Continue dragging the food in, but leave a portion of it out to satisfy any potential threats.
- [x] Eat any bits that fall off as we drag it further in.

I think it is viable, but I don't want to rely too heavily on the Queen Ant deal currently. Too soon developed into it, and we are a food source for way tooooo much on this Death World. It's likely a good endgame goal, but for now let's focus on survival to that point.

The thing about Queens in insect society is that while they gain the utility of the hive concept, they lose out of personal adaptation and defense. Remember that we live on a planet of Death World adapting Zerg-esque creatures. Anyone of our young can adapt to survive without us at a whim. If at anytime they decide they don't need us, they are gone and we are possibly shanked and nibbled upon for Essence/potential adaption features. Queens in nature, whether it be the Queen Bee or the Queen Naked Mole Rat control their underlings via use of pheromones, which we would need to adapt alongside increased reproductive ability. It's harder to adapt this sort of thing then it is others, but still a likely useful path. Like I said before, it's a useful end goal thing for life in eventual comfort.

Currently, my preferred route is something along the lines of an antlion or a trapdoor spider. Go for prey from beneath with minimal risk to the self.

Oh yeah before i forget, can somebody roll a d20 noise check?
I rolled and I got...a little late. NVM.;)
