A More You Know moment, I am sure but animals are really my thing. *Looks at name* Reality is a lot worse than what you imagine. Anteaters IRL, giant anteaters in this example, will use their claws first and foremost to break into the concrete hard termite mounds that some of their prey live inside of (their claws are hilariously lethal when applied to flesh, several humans have died by anteater hug...seriously). Then when the anteater has broken up enough of the nest, they put their muzzle to one of the broken up entrances and lap up their prey with incredibly sticky tongues. which can reach out of the mouth by about 2 feet, which is just silly considering the animal itself is about 7 feet from snout to tail tip.

But yeah, if it's an anteater analogue then we are screwed. Behold the face of our ultimate terror!

This is what an anteater that wants to kill you, a larger potential predator looks like.

That is their threat pose. It wants to hug you, so that it can eviscerate you with those honking big claws.
Edit:
Pls don't give the gm any ideas.

But we're not even any like yet. :(
It's alright man, we'll survive. Adaptation will save our hide. We grab the nibbles, hide away and if the senses of the oncoming threats don't sniff us out we'll probably have more nibbles from the ensuing fight that will hopefully occur. I get the feeling we will be sticking to a hiding/tunneling lifestyle for a bit, so maybe we get webbing/silk from the centispider and become a trapdoor crawler for a bit. We can get by through sheer will. Maybe it has venom or something we can gain to defend ourselves against larger predators (toad was never bit so we don't know). With fangs the size the centispider had I think that might actually have been a specialty it had or something (that or it had the metal fangs of the Brazilian Wandering Spider, they have fangs lined with copper, zinc, magnesium...and iron). Heck, going on with the venom, it's possible it had the capacity to spit venom like the Green Lynx Spider, aiming for sensitive, vulnerable eyes...or spit webbing like the Spitting Spider. Again, we didn't see these cause the centispider never had the chance.

:D

Dang it, I spewed out more animal facts again! Sorry, wasn't trying to fuel ideas for enemy spawn. Was trying to spawn ideas for adaptions.

fucking spiders with metal fangs and ant eaters with venom tongues there is only one option available to us we have to dig all the WAY to the other side of the planet and hope we dont stumble upon even MORE death and destruction (good luck with that) but seriously if we do get a adaptation from centispider scrap would love some web shooting if our guy is strong enough we can web up a rock crawl up a tree and drop it on our enemies and pray it one shots them cause we are fucked if it doesnt or web our foes then go in and poison them with our paralysis venom we hopefully get from centispider as well.

While these are all great it all really depends on what we get now and don't forget we need to find water at some point so we can't stay here forever.

Edit. Also by all means pls keep spewing out animal facts. It quite interesting. Plus it gives us some ideas as to how not to die.

Why paralysis venom in specific? I mean, nature is so nasty just here on earth that venom has to be split between four different kinds for the specific effects they have on the body (no the venom is not split between different phylum of animals...that would be too kind). I think the kinds are Neurotoxic (affects brain/nervous system/slow death...the kind you mentioned to be honest. Can stop breathing if animal in high enough toxicity), Cytotoxic (flesh dissolving/eating...don't look up brown recluse spider bites, they look just terrible), Hemotoxic (affects heart and cardiovascular) and the worst of the bunch, Proteolytic (affects molecular bonds/structure around envenomed area)...I wish I just joking on that last one but I'm not. That's a real kind of venom nature has stashed in a beastie somewhere. Then there are venoms that carry traits of multiple venom types. And finally, the most gross fact about venom, in some insects it can be used as a form of sex pheromone to induce breeding behaviour. Bleh.

I agree, but I figure that the flesh nibble we grab will contain some blood in it that will help keep the thirst at bay until it is safe to find something to drink...also given we live in a jungle I'm assuming rain is a near daily event, as it is in most equatorial jungles.

Edit: We figure out the reliability of rain for our region and adapt our tunnel system to that. Steady rains combined with a sturdy soil base (clay or some such) mean we might be able to store water away in a little pocket somewhere. Steady rains plus soft soil base, as is common in rainforests, and the tunnels are liable to be washed away in the rain if we try to store it there. Our best hope for water then would be flora that is designed to capture water for its own use, such as absorbent mosses and the bromeliad. Well want to avoid anything with oddly shaped leaves, potential carnivorous Flora abounds on Death Worlds. I don't want to find out the size of the Venus Flycatcher and Pitcher Plant equivalents.

[X]burrow up to chunks and drag them down from beneath eat them in safety before other scavengers show up.

Did someone say roll?
Awwwww
Ps I'm aware all the rolls have been made already

True. And dear god I completely forgot about carnivorous plants. I want to go home.

Trust me my fellow raptor, you have not even seen AnimalKrazed's final form in animal trivia. He has in the past used biological examples taken from his vast knowledge of animals and explained how certain fictional creatures in some stories behaved the way they did.

He managed to make the troodon from the Jurassic park game scarier then they were originally.

Hehehe but god-dammit that spider is nasty, urgh.
We call them Armadeiras because they "arm" themselves before attacking

oh god somehow i can see the animals being able to fire lasers from there eyes please dont the reason why i chose paralysis venom is we web the poor sap we eat venom him then when he is froze rip his throat out with our teeth would of posted that last night but internet was messing up.

Seriously, I like sleeping at night.

Too late Smug, already finished.
Alright. Give me a little bit to do my thing. :)

First, Centispider. I'd say that it is much more closely connected to archnoids then it is to the centipede/millipede side due to it's visible adaptations. It has a total of 8 legs and 6 pinchers/fangs. The pincher/fangs are likely limbs that were developed into feeding/fighting mechanisms, likely possess a venom of some kind. It might even have a specific venom per set of fangs. Likely developed due to tendency for gorging, as is visible through enlarged mouth (possibly started as a fight wound that was adapted for increased eating potential as is 'common' in ecosystem). Ability to rear back on the hind four legs means that centispider excelled at full-out fights, enabled to use sharpened legs to rend the opponent bloody, while envenoming with fangs. Multiple fangs means that it likely was able to manipulate each seperately, and the open wounds caused by the legs would mean more open spots for even a drop of venom to get into opponent. I am assuming at least on set of flesh dissolving venom is enployed due to lack of effective chew mechanism (unless it has an eel-like second jaw on the inside we didn't get to see). It's many eyes mean that it was likely a vision based predator. Probably an ambush predator, due to lack of endurance in the fight. Also probably used it's pincher/fangs in a manner akin to the carnivorous caterpillar. Sorry for the nightmares by the by.

Sectatoad (my name for the 6-legged toad) probably is an ambush predator, as are most toads. The teeth-like extensions in the jaw mean it is less likely to loose teeth, so possible adaption from extensive mouth-to-mouth fighting. Also, possibly adaption to prevent prey from escaping once bitten/armour piercing mechanism. Probably has capacity to rear itself up on it's four hind legs, enabling grappling with it's front two limbs. Would likely grab and push down to the ground, so it could take vicious bites out of prey/opponent, as seen in fight. Has enlargened mouth, more for increased consumption ability (likely could eat anything as large as it's own head) and might even eat lesser prey alive (yes this is a common thing in nature, lions don't always suffocate their prey when it is easier/safer to just start eating and kill prey through shock then will do). Eyes speak of a similar life-style to toads, so at least semi-aquatic, with crepuscular tendencies (up at anytime of day, but most active at dusk/dawn). Large body means more weight, allowing for better holding/grapple positions and potential camouflage with rock-like appearance. Lack of webbing on the two foremost sets of limbs speaks of better utility and less potential for unnecessary wounding in fights/jungle terrain. If it continues a semiaquatic lifestyle it is likely that it pushes itself with the two hindmost sets of limbs, while prepping the two foremost limbs for defense/passive snatching of aquatic prey. Possibly has advanced healing capabilities due to lack of reaction to belly slash. It is likely that if we followed it, we wouldn't get any more tidbits from it, as it'll most likely eat centispider whole now that fighting is done. I wouldn't advise following, as it'll eat us just as it will anything else that crosses it's path. The jaw adaptation is found in Earth's PacMan Frog, which does eat anything that fits in the mouth, no matter how big or small...they bit fingers hard enough to leave bloodied marks.

Anyways, I forgot that I only analyzed what we could get from the centispider from its potential spider adaptations. From it's centipede/millipede half (it is centipede in this case, but I won't bore you with how I know) we could get...glue rope. No seriously, the Velvet Worm, has the capacity to fire foot long 'ropes' of quick drying adhesive at their prey. They do so in a crisscross manner meant to entrap anything with the misfortune to get stuck...the saliva of this critter also dissolves insect flesh. This however, is an unlikely adaptation due to the design of the centispider. It had no visible glue spewing adaptations, though this doesn't mean that it didn't have retractable ones, or that the innermost fangs didn't have better mobility than was seen.

OR...we could get hallucinogenic properties. No, I am not joking. Millipedes native to Madagascar secrete narcotic liquid as a form of defense, due to it's foul taste. The narcotic properties were just a side-effect in that case, but point still stands. Of course, I am hoping this isn't the adaptation we get cause then we could get druggy beast coming for us for their next high...yes this also happens in nature ALA lemurs. Thanks King Julien.

The reason I want to stay underground is because I don't fancy coming face to twig with any potential shrike like creatures. Shrikes are cute/nasty birds.
Oh, and if any of the incoming beasties is acting strange, I don't want any part of them. Strange behaviour is obvious clue to parasites, specifically ones that turn hosts into zombie-esque entities.

so we become drug dealer worm worst drug dealer ever they will eat us for there fix.

oh fuck has any of those parasites got into a human before cause i can see some madman experimenting and killing us all by zombie apocalypse.
