Crimson Beauty of The Crescent Moon (Fate/Grand Order)

In Which Medea Spoils Hinako's Smug — Alt. Title: The Reveal of Saber's Identity
Hmm, the Lady Yuenü? She's from before Hinako's time, fits perfectly as a Saber and countering Thunderer is easy, as being good enough with a sword in Fate means you unlock conceptual magic. :V

At the slight paling of the Archer's face, Hinako allowed herself a smile. "Not to worry, with the power drain in Chaldea, you will not face her, for now."
Medea of Colchis continued, once more, to sip her tea. Servants has no need for sustenance — doubly so considering her Master — but it is relaxing nonetheless, to partake in slight refreshment. She was a princess before this all. Still, it meant that she have the time to consider her Master's words.

Sword shard. Guarded. An artifact not whole but kept sacred nonetheless. The artefact itself isn't as important as the details surrounding it. She pulls back, to the repository of modern information the Grail System provided. It's robust, but much the one from Fuyuki, it is made with a base of information available in the Age of Man. Still, it will do its job.

Before her Master's time, before her self-professed sapience around 200 BC in the vast lands of Asia, there's a few candidates. All predate the Celestial and- there.

Even if one were to consider the fact that the reported sex of the many eligible heroes and notables, there's but one who fit her Master's hints. A fact that said master knows she knows now, judging by the fact that her expression is turning into the sort of ones her mentor made. The sorts that belied a perplexed annoyance of having done a task earlier than anticipated in a manner that ruined her mood.

Without further preamble, she said it. "Lady of Yue."

"Eh?" Billy blurted, all while the gears behind his head turns and inputs the keyword into the Grail System's database.

"...How astute, Caster. You cheated, didn't you?"

"Only in so far that I needed to check what you said." She allowed herself a small smile. "It's not as easy as you might think it is - piecing the facts together. So, now that the secret is out, what do you know of her? The repository is inaccurat-"

Billy cut her off, his composure rattled by the revelation. "Except for the fact that you think I somehow have a chance against the progenitor of all Chinese sword arts?! Master, are you being serious?"

"I am. And her legends have been lost. Much, anyway."

Caster raised her hand to stop Archer's tirade. "And are they as conflicted then as they are now?"

"Somewhat. Some remained clear to me, however. She was trained, in part or in full, by one of the Four Celestial Monkeys. Perhaps even by Sun Wukong himself."

"How did that tidbit be forgotten? And how is this a fair fight on my end?"

"I did say that I was rather rash in my early days, didn't I?"

Medea looks at the Elemental oddly. "You... murdered all who knew of her deeds?"

"The monkeys were in the way. And not all of the deeds were lost. But they were distorted far easier than most. Her divinity too, were an exaggeration. Of a sort. Her links to Xuannü might have been established as a postdated fact."

"I still don't get how I am supposed to beat her. If the records I am getting is right, she's just that good at sword arts."

"In a fight to the death or a sparring match, her movements are fast. But you are just as fast. I never said that her attacks are unavoidable, but that Thunderer itself might become countered."

"So what, a counter to a counter attack?"

"In a sense." The guarded answer came then. Inwardly, Hinako herself is unsure how Yuenü's Noble Phantasm would manifest. She is certain enough that can handle Thunderer and yet, the form itself might be unknown.

Thankfully, the Caster switched the subject, "That's all well and good Master but what is she like? Sounds like someone who's a potential handful than not."

Hinako takes deep breath then. "That is where I am unsure of."

"Huh?" "Explain?"

"The stories that have been told varies. Either she was a refined lady who was sought by Goujian, who mastered her arts already in her prime, or she was a simple peasant girl who lived in the hilly bamboo forests of Zhejiang. Both versions mentioned that she is a calm spirit in combat, that she inherited the qualities of her mentor in many ways than one."

"Both versions might be true."

Hinako looks at the shard in her hand. "That might be so. But again, we've no idea when we can start summoning her. Or other Servants for the matter."

"...I think I'll start training then, I think Mister David wouldn't mind if I spar with him."

AN: My mood is Hinako's own for the past 12 hours. I'll strive to make further Servants a harder deal to guess. Congratulations, Random, you got the guess.

I mean, we threw a lot of spaghetti at the wall. Get enough people guessing and it's likely someone will get it. You don't want to make it so hard it's impossible, that takes the fun out of it!

Medea deserves headpats. She fulfilled her parts in all this flawlessly, and having "all pertinent cache information" added to the database means that Chaldea can start "officially" benefiting from our hidden materials.
Sadly, Medea is not one to be headpatted. That said, I am almost certain that this one Saber would not mind being dragged to dress-ups, provided she gets summoned that is. That can be a consolation.
@Vocalend - do the specialties do anything, or are they just essentially shorthand's for who would be better at a particular task?
Specialities? You mean the Olga Marie's assessment for the Department Representatives? If you're talking about that, then narratively, it opens and/or closes certain proposals from reaching your desk. More pertinently, as noted by @Namer, it also does mean that there are... biases. Minor enough prejudices and thoughts that normally might not affect the daily operations but in this case, might prove to be rather obstructive.

The spaghettis were on track and indeed, the speculations are more or less pointed to the same directions. My slight perplexed mood is more so on the fact that it's less than a day of people guessing before it right-ish.

In another news, the Week Two is on the way. I am adding closer to six options than three. There's a... lot of things to add in. They will take a bit. With the blurb above, I think it will be midnight and further for most of you American readers before the update becomes online. Please wait warmly for that.

I meant Ritsuka's endurance from getting the high rolls at the end of the chapter, I should have clarified

My first guess had been Hang Tuah, based on the part about countering Billy, but then my mind caught up to the "predates Yu Miaoyi" part.
"...I think I'll start training then, I think Mister David wouldn't mind if I spar with him."
Hmm...
"...I think I'll start training then, I think Mister Billy wouldn't mind if I spar with him."
I need to be faster with my sarcastic remarks, it appears. :V

Oh that. It means that the Guda will be swole. For now, it's something more narrative than mechanics. It will start opening up options sooner than later though. Again, you've no say on the Guda decisions but suffice to say that she's going to start by not being a deadweight.
... oh god, Goku actually teaching someone.
Possibly Sun Wukong. Might not be the case. But well, there's more than one reason why Billy's mood is nervous sweating as of now.
Could we also get a stat page for the masters since Ritsuka increased her endurance stat?
Mmm, not needed yet. Again, it's not a mechanical thing.

Too bad, git gud :V

More specifically, it means she'll be capable of bridal carrying Mash for needlessly long distances without needing to catch her breath.

This will prove vital in the future, I am sure.

Chaldea Week Two
"My sincerest apologies, Director."

Sulo Anselm's opening is not what the Animusphere or anyone else expected. Contrition is the frame of the current head of the Staffing Department. He remained sitting on a wheelchair, except for the fact that it's not a wheelchair. It's a hovering chair that retained the wheels on the side, manufactured by Da Vinci as the Finnish diplomat seemed adamant in retaining the chair.

As for the apologies, there's only one thing that he would ever want forgiveness on.

Due to the Extreme Synergy, the nutritional needs of Chaldean personnel increases. 'Lose' 1 Week of Food Supply. Food Supply secure until the start of Turn 3.

"It is fine. The Animusphere nodded with a neutral expression. Inwardly, she's a slight bit annoyed at herself, for not taking a second look at Anselm's proposal and her own decisions last week. "An acceptable error. None here fault you for that."

"Be that as it may, it presents some complication in Chaldea's plans. Especially if we're to expand our operations?"

Maxamed quirked his brows at that, but it was the Director who inquired first. "What do you mean, Anselm?"

"Technically speaking, our numbers have not increased. Practically speaking, with the widespread destruction, we have free hand in many tasks. We can rectify that, allow us to do more but…"

"We have a buffer, no?"

"That's just the thing. At normal consumption, we would have a buffer but this is an abnormal circumstance." He looks at Romani, who nodded, standing up and giving everyone a piece of paper.

The Director looks at the paper. Within contained information with regards to food consumption and effects to mental health. As everyone read — or skimmed, for Da Vinci, the baritone-like voice of Anselm continued. "As you can see, our dietary plans are kept at a level just above the minimum. You can almost say that we're rationing."

"And your plan is to make that not so." The Animusphere murmured, finding sense in the logic.

"Just so."

"Right, I will consider this. Avram?" The captain looks better now, if only the man wrapped in bloody bandages and strapped to a modified hospital bed is replaced with one who is halfway metal. Da Vinci had stated that it would have taken him three weeks to become used to the prosthetics. Not a mere four days.

"The proposals remain the same. Though Miss Skaidrite has informed me of the material deficiency, there's nothing that my Department can do." As if on cue, Da Vinci's smile widened. The Director looks at the somehow still long-suffering Archaman who nodded, giving the floor to the Caster.

"Well, Captain, it is good then, that we've had some… extreme proposals on how to resolve this issue. Between the talks between Skaidrite and Doctor Black, it seemed like the best thing to solve the issue is the creation of industries."

"...Excuse me?" The Animusphere blurted out.

"Given the capacity, we can make many things needed for Chaldea's operations. Given the fact that the outside world is… non-existent, we would not survive without further advanced tools and parts."

"The cart," Avram started. "Is not to be put before the horse."

The beaming smile of the Mona Lisa did not fade, even as she single handedly lifted a 100 kilogram thing. The Director sees it clearly for what it is, and so does Avram. Everyone else, however, seems rather confused.

To clarify then, the Director speaks. "The Blast Shield Lattice. The only thing that stops Chaldea from being incinerated along with the rest of the world. Marvels of techno-thaumaturgical creation, created by Chaldea before your arrival." The Animusphere's eyes lit up in realization. "In the North Sea, in the SERAPHIX Oil Rig."

At that, Maxamed interjected. "The sole reason that this proposal exists is due to the fact that just yesterday, we detected the existence of a new Singularity in the North Sea. Technically a micro-Singularity but it is very stable, for some reason."

Da Vinci continued then, "And if we can reinstall the Lattices located in SERAPHIX, we would solve several problems at once. We would not worry about fuel supply, Director. And that means we are clear to be able to expand the industry and-"

The Director raises her hand, silencing the Heroic Spirit. "Very well. That is under heavy consideration." And considering no one else is wanting to raise a new priority at this bombshell of a revelation… time for her to consider the proposals on her side of the table.

Pick 1 Action from each Department and 1 Action from Olga Marie. In addition, pick a total of two Servant Actions for eligible Servants.

Staffing Department
: Sulo Anselm is not a mage. In the department though, he would be the third best thing. A people's person. His proposals are sound, but they carry an edge of dismissiveness towards the magical portions of Chaldea. It burned him once now, he will not be found wanting the second time.

[] Food. More of them. With a third of Chaldean personnel now in various states of activity, there's a pressing need to get more food. With the Hydroponics still broken, then the two Archers would need to be enlisted once more. This time, the proposal has a more varied list. Anselm confided that prophet-prepared mutton is still, in the end, mutton. Which resulted in a bit of a bickering from Avram's end on matters of gratefulness and the like. Time: One Week. Result: Gain actual three weeks of food supply for a third of Chaldea's staff. More red meat variety.

[] A Memorial. Earth is Incinerated. The survival of the human race is in doubt. In Chaldea alone, a fifth of its staff are dead. There, Anselm states, is a need for a time to reset the broken bones. For a painful time of remembrance, lest it festers and brings down the cohesion of the Chaldean as a whole. More than ever, this is the time to do so. Any later, and the genie is out of the bottle. Time: One Week. Result: Morale… increase? Other benefits?

[] Directorial Coordination. Now is the time. Reintegrate and smoothen the workflow of the newly healed Chaldeans. With the glut of staff, there's a lot more that can be done around Chaldea. The proposal details, almost to an obsessive detail, where each of the personnel would go and how they would be seamlessly inserted into the command chain of the relevant Departments. Time: One Week. Result: Gain the Second Directorial Action.

[] Hydroponics Reactivation Pt. 1. The entirety of the Hydroponics Wing is buried in rubble. They need to be cleared first. Enlist some Servant-power and what few able workers to shift the debris and prepare for rebuilding. Time: Three Weeks. Result: Hydroponics Wing is cleared of debris. Unlocks Part 2.

[] Doubled Rations. The simplest thing is, as usual, the hardest. Increase the calorie intake and food variety for the Chaldean staff. Without the Hydroponics Wing, this… will be rather hard. The reward itself might not be commensurate but it is undeniably beneficial. Cost: Half of the Food Supply. Time: One Week. Result: Double the food requirement of Chaldean Staff. Adjust the Food Supply accordingly. Increase morale. ???

Security Department: Avrum Yisshakar is… not an ideal person to lead the department. You know it, he knows it, everyone does. But for now, he's the only one you have. And to be fair to him, he's not just a soldier, he's also an engineer aware of the problems his department needs to solve. His proposals leave much depth to be desired but in its simplicity lies solutions. Now that there's more minders behind him, his proposals gain a note of competence.

[] Repair the Reactors Phase Two. The primary reactors are the main things that allowed Chaldea to run. The past tense is well, important. Avram would like to retool one of the least damaged one, dumb down the system and allow for a fuel effeciency in exchange for lower output. Time: One Week. Result: Increase Primary Reactors Operational Level to 10%. 'Increase' 2 Weeks worth of fuel supply.

[] Repair the Wind Turbines. Chaldea, as a measure of energy-sufficiency, has a small windfarm. Its output is enhanced through cutting-edge tech, thaumaturgical expertise, and a large amount of capital. With its almost complete destruction, there'd normally be no way to repair the turbines. But the existence of Leonardo Da Vinci changes things. Divert her effort here and let her genius be applied. Cost: Da Vinci Action. Time: One Week. Result: Fully repair the turbines to 100% Operatibility. Increase fuel supply by 1 Week. Lessen the load on the overworked Reactors. ???

[] Inventorize the Storage Wing. Not a pressing proposal, the Captain said. Nonetheless, there are a lot of things in the storage. The result of perhaps excessive hoarding in the part of the Master Candidates — all but two of whom are more or less dead — and the accumulated treasure of more than one decade of activity can be quite considerable. Time: Two Weeks. Result: Gain access to Chaldean Materials and Servant Catalyst tabs.

Medical Department: Romani Archaman is a frazzled bundle of exhausted energy. You can relate. His proposals are penned in his usual conciseness and leaves none to be desired. He's doing better too now, on account of not having to deal with nearly a fifth of Chaldean staff under his Department's care.

[] Industrial Framework: Medical Equipment. This one, Romani noted, is the work of one Hadrian Black. There's… not quite a dearth of medical supplies. But enough to cut it close. The proposal outlines that the reforging of metal-based equipment and recycling of plastic-based ones would be enough to address the shortage. Cost: One Week of Fuel. Time: One Week. Result: Self-Explanatory. Complete with 'Industrial Framework: Pharmaceuticals' to unlock 'Self-Revivification — Technological'.

[] Industrial Framework: Pharmaceuticals. This too, is a proposal from Doctor Black. With the surfeit of medicinal herbs, there's now enough to kickstart the creation of synthetic medicine distilled from the plants. Time: One Week. Result: Self-Explanatory. Complete with 'Industrial Framework: Medical Equipment' to unlock 'Self-Revivification — Technological'.

[] Selective Revivification — Magical. Nearly half of Chaldea's staff is still in cryofreeze. One and all, their injuries are in such severity that suspended animation was the best choice. Now… now he can start to make a new proposal. Once more, he would like to enlist Medea's help. This time in creating what is in essence a sealed chamber filled with healing fluids. The specifics of this project eludes you but it is what it is. Cost: Medea Action. Time: One Week. Result: Start critically injured personnels.

Analytics Department: Sterling Maxamed is a man of few words. But you can work with that. For a new Family, he is hard working, diligent, and nonplussed. His proposals are short, concise, and do not meander into tangents. Not that there's many proposals to begin with for now.

[X] Backfill Documentation. Tantamount of the effort of the department is the recovery of information from the wrecked databanks and servers. It will be a hard slog, shifting through corrupted data and files to find the usable information. But it's a slog that the department excels in. Time: Two Weeks. Result: Unlocks actual departmental options. ??? Locked for One Week.

[] AAR: Fuyuki.
A side proposal put forth by Maxamed is a simple one. He believes that there's a particular need to compile a report of how the two Masters performed in Chaldea's first crucible. Attached preliminary data is… interesting, to say the least. And enlightening too. Time: Two Weeks. Result: Gain an AAR and lessons to be learned from Fuyuki. Unlocks enhancement options in other Departments in the coming turns.

Research Department: Da Vinci. You don't need to say anything else. She has a lot of plans. Plans that, admittedly, neglects her actual subordinates in their worth but she's Da Vinci. There's no bad blood in this on the part of staff under her, not in this scenario and after years of acclimatization. It is a bias worth noting though.

[] Industrial Framework: Maintenance Forge. This… is going to be a costly project. Everyone heard the proposal but you still balk at this one. Still, Da Vinci had the sense of splitting off the momentous projects to several parts. The first one is the original suggestion made by Skaidrite, revamped by the Caster to be more comprehensive. The results are undeniable, of course. Cost: 1 Week of Fuel. Time: One Week. Result: Create a forge specialized in creating and replacing used parts around Chaldea. Ensure that invasive repairs of the reactors can be enacted. Unlocks more actions.

[] Automata Creation. There's a demand for untiring workers and while the current roster of Servants aren't ones to shy over menial work, other Servants may voice objections. It will be somewhat costly, of course. Cost: Da Vinci Action and 1 Week of Fuel. Time: One Week. Result: Mechanical Automatas capable of doing programmed tasks. Alleviate the workload of human personnel. Cut the time cost of certain Actions and unlock others.

[] Holy Grail Investigation. Of import is the recovery of the Holy Grail of Fuyuki. It is a chalice fully brimming with energy and could do much for Chaldea… and yet, it is something that needs testing and checking. Fortunately, one of the greatest Magus of the Age of Gods is here. Have her ascertain the use of the Holy Grail and if it is indeed worth using. Cost: Medea Action. Time: One Week. Result: Gain information on the Grail. Unlocks actions on utilizing it.

Vote in Plan Form. Manual Moratorium will be enforced. Please ask Questions if there are things unclear.

I think we want to put Medea on grail. As nice as healing the critically wounded is, we don't have the supplies to handle them after

I'm also holding to my earlier opinion of DaVinci on turbines, Olga on memorial, and Archers on food. Not 100%sure of specifics otherwise

Definitely Medea on Grail..

Vocalend, you might need to add how many actions each department could take plus whatever aditional Servant and Olga bonus actions.

Thoughts on doing these staffing actions this week? Archers on food, Olga on Memorial, staffing on directorial coordination?

Vocalend, could ya add how much fuel and food supply we have left for each turn? also isn't the analytics department action locked in?

It's going to suck, but we should start to clear hydroponics now rather than later. The investment is huge but we can't rely on going out and hunting every turn, we need to make our own food eventually.

Thoughts on doing all the staffing actions this week? Archers on food, Olga on Memorial, staffing on directorial coordination?

Maybe. At this point I'm viewing this as either we put Archers on Food or we go into Medea on Holy Grail while hitting memorial and coordination. Just not sure which yet but I think the plan should look something like this. Will write out an explanation post with reasoning in a bit and will edit in the [X] once the food/Holy Grail choice is made and moratorium is over.

[X] Plan Setup
-[X] A Memorial. (Olga)
-[X] Directorial Coordination.
-[X] Repair the Reactors Phase Two
-[X] Repair the Wind Turbines (Da Vinci)
-[X] Industrial Framework: Pharmaceuticals
-[X] Backfill Documentation
-[X] Industrial Framework: Maintenance Forge
-[X] Holy Grail Investigation (Medea)

Why hunt for food now? We have food till next week at least.

We should really start on Hydroponics. The sooner we start, the sooner it gets done. I'd say that instead of the Memorial, do that next week with our new Directorial action.

Why am I hearing the theme song of a certain super cute devil, last boss-type kouhai?

In seriousness, this actually opens a chance to save Kiara from what Zepar would do to her. At this point, she's a genuinely good person with the potential to become a Saver. If we're careful, we can prevent her from becoming a Beast, and possibly gain a very powerful ally.

BTW, canonically it's the magnetic field generated by CHALDEAS - a mini replica of Earth, right down to the iron core - that protects Chaldea from the Incineration.

I'll do it later. But for now, cross-checking with the Informatics Tab works too.

Since the no one is asking questions and it's just about nearly midnight for most of you American questions, vote is open. I need to duck for the while. Need to go out to the clinic for dental check and possibly surgery of a sort so replies might be sparse.

Welp, new turn so I feel comfortable fully contributing now.

[X] Plan Fuel Economy
-[X] Staffing - Directorial Coordination
-[X] Staffing (Olga) - A Memorial
-[X] Security - Repair the Reactors Phase Two
-[X] Security (Da Vinci) - Repair the Wind Turbines
-[X] Medical - Industrial Framework: Pharmaceuticals
-[X] Analytics - (Locked)
-[X] Research - Industrial Framework: Maintenance Forge
-[X] Research (Medea) - Holy Grail Investigation

Laying things out...

Priorities:
Two weeks of Fuel is the more pressing concern, with another buffer over Food at 3 weeks. So that needs to be addressed in some fashion. Further, as we'll note below, Fuel is also burned on various actions so we need to be even more careful what we're doing with it.

Action Synergies/Chains:
Hydroponics Wing is 3 Weeks of manual labor. Automata Creation is labor creation for menial tasks, ergo Hydroponics should not be selected until Automata is done (possibly same turn depending on how action order and timing is evaluated for synergy) @Vocalend are you willing to clear that up?

Last turn made a note on the Reactors needing a new Power Source. While we have the obvious Industrial chain opened up, it's...plausible that the Holy Grail could be repurposed as a Power Source if we went that route. Or we might have other options.

So how do we approach this?
Food isn't going to kill us yet, so we can push that off. Worst case send the Archers out next turn or the turn after to buy more time there. Instead, action economy is important, there's various things that can still be done that are notionally resource cost-less that we aren't doing because they're lower priority but are still useful.
Take the double action on the Reactors + the Wind Turbines along with getting the Forge going both to lessen the load, gain more fuel, and to fish for synergy for the obvious way they interlock. Further, no matter what I think we need to take Maintenance Forge to progress that chain or else we'll just continue limping along, not fixing the problem.
That leaves the Medical action--and because I want Medea available for the Grail next turn (or other actions) and I'm unwilling to spend more Fuel on an action that does relatively less on its own, that makes this the obvious choice to accomplish something with our time.

edit:
Fixing some actions, we have some additional actions I didn't select as I slightly misunderstood the requirement on Servant actions.

As Servant actions don't take the Department selection:
Swapped Medea to the Holy Grail Investigation to prep it as a possible power source. Medical gets the default action that doesn't take fuel.
Used the Director Action on the Memorial. Good time to do it, work on morale.
