Come for the Raifus, Stay for the Plot: Girls' Frontline - Baking Time

Ah, I remember now, you're the one who was running the no-5-stars challenge. That locks you out of some of the "meta" advice, but you do have a good selection otherwise, so I'll see what I can do.
More advice! Thank you again.

Unfortunately, force shield SMG's have a 8 second initial cooldown, so they won't help against the phase of the fight when the strikers are strongest. MP5 is unfortunately pretty lacking in HP, which is a problem when you need endurance for the striker waves. All that said, pairing her with Dorothy (and shield fairy) might well be the best tank option you have. The selection of SMG main tanks is hit really hard by the removal of 5*'s.

Your main RFHG looks fine to me - you could switch HG's around your echelons, but that would just be up to your preferences/testing. As long as it's strong enough to avoid getting grenaded by the doppels, it should work fine. You probably don't need a separate echelon just for rodeleros (you can kite them with HG's or with an ARSMG), but it's ok if it makes you more comfortable with the clearing. Your MGSG seems fine too; you could add another SG in place of Mk23 for more CE points if you want. There's also the option to use M16 in one of these to tank strelet and rodel waves - just keep her far away from the strikers.
Roger that.

It sounds like you're still having problems with the strikers, but without 5* tanks, I'm not sure what advice I can give. I'd definitely keep M4, but you can try swapping her with another DPS AR instead (not an HG, their skills don't kick in fast enough). Maybe try getting together M4, STAR, and either 9A-91 or Sop, so you have as much AR DPS in one echelon as possible. Then put either Dorothy/MP5, or some combination of MP5/UMP45/UMP9 in front of them, stick on a shield fairy, and see how it goes. You'll probably still need three ARSMG echelons, but hopefully the others won't be called on to fight more than one or two striker waves.

I haven't found molotov SMG's to be worth it on striker waves - they have to trade off evasion for damage, and if you retreat them the burn damage stops. (They'd be great on the prowler and all-strelet waves, though.) Regular SMG grenades and stun grenades have been iffy for me, but your fights will probably be slower so you might see more value from them. Just try to maximize your evasion and disruption so the AR's can do their thing.
Now my AR echelons look like this:
- TAR-12, Ribeyrolles, Meido, Uzi MOD3 and Type 64 MOD1 (as an experiment), with Anna Graem - against Strelets
- M4, Soppo, STAR-15, Dorothy and UMP45, with Shield fairy - main against Strikers
- 9A-91, T65, CZ2000, UMP9 and MP5, with Taunt fairy - backup against Strikers, and probably main against Prowlers.
Note: tried it just now, at it worked reasonably well. The only concern is Fairy commands, but eh, isn't that how it's supposed to be?

If it "doesn't count", then you should be using Sei for Uhlans and Doppels.

I still think you're being very silly because 5 stars count for more than half of the units in the game at this point and make up a good chunk of the event drops.
Of course it's silly. But if it wasn't silly, it wouldn't be quite as fun.

Also, I started the game during the Valhalla crossover, so Sei, Jill, and... The RF lady, what's her name. Well, I didn't manage to get them in time.

I feel like it goes hand in hand with the 100% T-Doll collection crowd. You'll never find a use for every doll when you've only got 10 echelons to work with. But it doesn't matter, you need that 100% mark no matter how tedious and terrible the farming map is, or how low the construction pull rates are. It's just gotta be done.

Plus the Mod stories are usually good reading. Colico's story in the newest batch is down right fantastic, a more then worthy follow up to the DJmax collaboration and works well within Polarized Light. Type 64's story is much more low key, but some nice, easy reading all the same. I'm looking forward to AS Val's story once I get enough fragments to unlock all of it. Really, I'm more into the Neural Upgrades for the stories then anything else.
Honestly? I'll admit some of the satisfaction of going for that 100% collection is just that GFL actually LETS players get to 100% character collection without having to drop thousands of dollars to maybe get the characters you want. Like, after playing GFL for two years, I've ended up dropping FE Heroes for its rampant powercreep, FGO after 400 dollars last summer got me FIVE COPIES of Caster Nero, literally one of my least favorite characters in the game, before I got a single copy of Berserker Nobu who was unit I actually wanted that supposedly had triple the drop rate. Meanwhile, a one hundred percent Free to Play player of Girls Frontline can still expect to eventually get every single unit in the game. Sure, there's still furniture and costumes, but that's all optional cosmetics, and actually has a functioning pity system in tickets and black cards unlike the absolute joke that is FGO's Spirit Origins. "Yo if you get 15 copies of the same five star unit, maximum of .7% chance per unit, then you can choose a single other 5* you want lol".

This totally just turned into an FGO rant, but you get the point - I'm happy to collect all these dolls because I CAN and it costs me nothing to do so, and even if Sangvis Capture sounds like it's dipping into a more traditional "pay for guarantees" gacha system and that's rather disappointing, GFL as a whole manages to mix good free to play, generally enjoyable gameplay between the map strategy and the microing in harder battles, and a fairly good story to go with it. 10/10 wish I'd been playing from launch, but I'll make do with showing up a few months after.

Of course it's silly. But if it wasn't silly, it wouldn't be quite as fun.

If you want to play with such restrictions, fine, that's your business.

The only thing I will say is that a good amount of harder content tends to be balanced around you having at least the AR team modded and maybe having farmed and raised some of the event 5* dolls. Not to mention newer enemies generally being balanced around newer doll skills (e.g. the current event boss has an attack that literally can only be blocked by HP shields, even if it is an optional fight) and some of the general powercreep caused by the addition of new dolls to the game over time.

Also if you are committed to this it'd be good to pick up a solid understanding of the game mechanics so you know how to best operate within the restrictions you've set for yourself.

That's... A legitimate concern. If I don't know what I'm doing, the later events will turn into a "Do you have enough repair tickets?" kinda thing. Which is exactly how I dealt with one boss in Singularity, and that wasn't fun. But think I learned a thing or two since then - apparently, looks like I know how to run RF echelons. Either that, or M14+Clear are that overpowered. Eventually, I might learn that AR echelons aren't always better with molotovs. To learn that, I will need to fail a lot play the game, and occasionally ask advice. I'll try not to be obnoxious about the latter.

But, for now, clearing this event with only 4-stars made me feel much giddier than I expected to feel.

M14 is great for a 3* and pretty good overall.

M14mod is top-drawer.

Two of those (the bottom ones) look like they could be new skins for Calico (or Mk48) and NTW-20. The top ones look more like crossovers with Fire Emblem, or something.

Beat me to it on those last two.

The first one could be one of the AK's, perhaps? What little we see of the receiver in the lower right reminds me of what I've seen of AK's, though I'm far from an expert. Though IDK if the Eagle iconography on the armor fits with that. Could be a German or American rifle with a vaguely similar looking ejection port. I'm not sure where the sword design (specifically the guard) on the second one is from, or even if that design is associated with a particular nation. Knowing that could be a big hint. The bit of the shoulder we see on the third reminds me of the flowers in AUG's hair, so it could be her, but that's reaching quite a bit.

Edit: From a quick bit of research, the ring guard on the sword (possibly a longsword) seem to have an association with Germany and Switzerland, though the style was more widely used back in the 16th century.

Having looked at AUG's default costume in game, I'm a bit more confident the third one is her. We see what appears to be hair in the upper left, above the arm, and it matches her hair color and is in a similar position to her hair in her default art.

The first one has me quite stumped though. It could be just about any AR or MG that isn't AR-15/M16 derived. Even some of the SGs or SMGs might fit what little we see of the receiver.

Edit 2: I was rather silly in my analysis of the third one. The white above the arm on the left is probably the white cape we see attached at the shoulder. Her hair, if we're seeing any of it, is more likely the light brown we see in the upper right corner.

Very nice indeed.

Maybe I should actually mod NTW-20?

IMO the story was quite well done, though somewhat dark until the end. I ended up spending the resources to Mod 3 her just to see how the story ended. I haven't actually used her in combat since then, so I have no clue if she's any good, but her skill sounds useful at least. Though the shots from her second skill can miss, which means she's less useful at night.

Can miss in theory. In practice, I can't remember her after shots missing once, and I was using her on later Paradeus spawns during Isomer ranking.

NTW's mod makes her more viable. I'm running her in my anti-Uhlan squad in Core 8.

That's about what I thought her niche might be. At Mod 1 and beyond, she beats out DSR-50 for the highest damage single-target nuke. I'm pleasantly surprised she wasn't missing more on the night missions. Accuracy buffs from a fairy and tiles?

I should go level her 2nd skill. She was my first 5-star, so she deserves to get out more often.

Honestly, I couldn't take her Mod-3 story entirely seriously because it felt like one of those where the commander was going peak Brainlet. "Hm, what kind of specialists do I send to infiltrate and spy on a group which regularly captures T-dolls and dismantles or reprograms them? I know, send 3 rifles specializing in long range to crawl around the tight quarters of their base, along with a handgun who's deathly terrified of human contact. Also, none of them are allowed to injure humans directly when going up against a human group lol". The motorcycle chase scene was still pretty great though.

The motorcycle chase was completely awesome. My mine gripe with her story is the no killing humans angle. More so after Calico's story has her cutting off a guy's hand before shooting him in the face. I can only assume NTW's story takes place much earlier in the timeline, but even then I don't see why they couldn't just disable the assholes, especially considering how she did eventually take care of them.

That said, all would be forgiven if Mica gave her a motorcycle skin.

Calico's story does take place much later on within the larger story, specifically during Polarized Light when you're having final kill-or-be-killed against KCCO. It's why people didn't expect her Mod to come out so soon.

Usually ranking rewards are sent a week later, following maintenance.

That said, as of writing this, the last day's rankings aren't even up yet. Hopefully it's just a delay by the devs.

I managed to make it to the top 30% despite my horribly late start.

Hopefully I can start earlier and make it to the top 10% next Theater. I hear it has a different unit lineup? Is there someplace I can look it up?
